Listing/Relationship Question
Hello,
I know this is probably super simple, but for some reason I just can''t get
it!
What I want to do is click on a post and display all the categories that the
post is in.
class Post < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :categories
end
class Category < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :post
end
...simple enough.
In the categories_controller I have this:

convert string to AR class
Hi everyone,
I''m trying to convert a string passed on the command-line into an
ActiveRecord class, so I can do something like this.
a="SomeClass"
a.find(:all)
where
class SomeClass < ActiveRecord::Base
end
This appears to work (better ways would be appreciated):
a="SomeClass"
b=eval a
b.find(:all)
However I would like to make sure

RAV for Samba (Linux i386)
Just wondering if anyone has thoughts (good or bad) about this product
(RAV AntiVirus for Samba (Linux i386))...or any other?
I have a client that wants to have A/V *on* their samba server, rather
than just scanning the shares from a WS.
Any comments regarding ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION and SAMBA are gratefully
welcome!
TIA

OH323 doesnt hear ringing
I have Asterisk running with a combination of SIP and H323 clients. I am using the OH323 module instead of the H323 one.
When the SIP clients ring each other, they can hear a ringing noise in the ear peice to let them know that the other parties phone is ringing. However, when the H323 client rings a SIP client, there is no ringing sound at all, although as soon as the called party picks up the

Ruby on Snails
I''ve been reading, hearing, and looking at blogs that state Ruby on
Rails is rather slow. Coming from a VB 6 world (thank you Microsoft for
killing VB because VB.NET is NOT VB) I was always told that VB was a toy
or too slow. Now, I''ll easily tell you that yes VB was not a great
language. It had it''s share of warts, like a lot of other languages I
might add, but

Virus Protection ... Which one...?
Hi all
I've found a few different packages (RAV, Kaspersky,Vexira, Clam ...)
which offer Anti-Virus features for Linux servers. It looks like RAV
specifically supports Samba servers.
My question is:
Can anyone relay their experiences / opinions / thoughts about which one
would work best in a multiple-server environment (~100 Windows Clients)?
Thanks in advance -- all comments are

Phone still rings while on a call
Hi All
I have some grandstream phones registered to my asterisk and all internal, external, voicemail services etc are working very well.
I am not sure that it is a problem more so an annoyance. If someone dials my extension number or external DDI while I am already in a call rather than skipping to the next priority in the dial plan for example voicemail the line continues to ring and while in

loop through and modify multiple data frames
Hi
Newbie question:
I have a set of data frames that I want to do the same calculations on each.
I've found out that I can put them in a list and loop through the list
to do the calculation, but not put the results back into each
data.frame..
For example three data frames cats, dogs, birds

Doing a simple search from the database?
I realize thi may be more complex issue than can be asnwered in this
post. But, what I need to do is create a simple query on my existing
tables via a search form. I have half my app done (I can write all the
info I want to my database), but pulling the data out dynamically is
giving me trouble.
I have both the "ruby for rails" book and the Agile Development book.
They both give

self documenting workspaces, and the proper role of the dot
again I ask for some suggestions : I don't mind being told to RTFM as long
as I get a few hints as to where to look <g>
suppose I want to document the set of functions and vectors that I have in
a workspace, and I would like to make that workspace 'self documenting' ..
so I could open up that particular workspace in a few months and know what
xdiff contained ..etc.

ICC - IntraClass Correlation Error
Hi, I'm trying to run a ICC calculation on a data frame. I get the following
error message:
Error in data.frame(x.s, subs = rep(paste("S", 1:n.obs, sep = ""), nj)) :
arguments imply differing number of rows: 1700, 1750
I've looked at the data in the file and it seems to be okay. Any thoughts
would be much appreciated. I'm getting used to R so if possible, I

nt/2000 password has expired
Hi,
I have setup samba on redhat 7.3 and configured it as a windows 2000 Primary Domain Controller. Everything works fine, however, everytime that Windows NT or 2000 clients log onto the domain they get a message stating that their password has expired and asking them if they want to change it. It doesn't matter if you answer Yes and change it or answer No and just continue on, the message

Problems with spaces in filenames in scripts
I've got some (bash) shell scripts which I'm using to call rsync based
on command-line options passed to the script. The problem I'm having is
with spaces in the filenames/paths.
I can do:
---
rsync -rav --modify-window=2 --stats --partial --compress --timeout=30
"localhost::module_name/dir/file with spaces.doc" "/smb/dir/dir with
spaces/"

Threads vs. Processes and Rails
Hey all,
I need to launce a rather lengthy process from a small Rails application.
It''s the sort of thing (sending out an email newsletter) that would need to
be launched from a browser window, but the browser doesn''t need to stick
around to see it through.
I played around with Thread.new, but I think, based on limited testing, that
the threads need to complete before the view

Hrm, I would much rather just have LLVM be a drop in replacement for
