Winedit and R
Hi all, I am trying to install add-on in R (rw1070) to work with WinEdit. Libraries Swinregistry and Rwinedt have been installed via "Install Package(s) from local zip files" from R. However, when I run library(Rwinedt) I get the following messages: > library(Rwinedt) Loading required package: SWinRegistry Error in loadNamespace(name) : package `methods' does not have a name

type III sum of squares - ssType
Hello, It seems that, unlike Splus, the anova.lm function of R does not take the argument ssType=3 into account. How can one get an anova table with the adjusted sum of squares in R? bwplot and panel.bwplot
Hello, I am trying to use "bwplot" to display whisker boxes according to some conditioning factors ("age" has two values 1/2). I get the following messages: > library(trellis) > bwplot(dvk95~age|site*season,panel=function(x,y){panel.bwplot(x,y)}) Error in tapply(1:0, structure(list(INDICES = numeric(0)), .Names = "INDICES"), : arguments must have

Hi, I am trying to bootstrap the difference between each parameters among two non linear regression (distributed loss model) as following: # data.frame > Raies[1:10,] Tps SolA Solb 1 0 32.97 35.92 2 0 32.01 31.35 3 1 21.73 22.03 4 1 23.73 18.53 5 2 19.68 18.28 6 2 18.56 16.79 7 3 18.79 15.61 8 3 17.60 13.43 9 4 14.83 12.76 10 4 17.33 14.91 etc... # non

Memory limitation in GeoR - Windows or R?
Dear Aaron, I am really a tool user and not a tool maker (actually an ecologist doing some biostatistics)... so, I take the liberty of sending a copy of this e-mail to the r-help list where capable computer persons and true statisticians may provide more relevant information and also to Paulo Ribeiro and Peter Diggle, the authors of geoR.. I really feel that your huge matrix cannot be

pseudo R-squared with likfit (geoR)
We want to compute a pseudo R-squared for a model whose parameter estimation was based on maximum likelihood (function likfit, package geoR). I tried to compute the R2 proposed by Maddala (1983) which compare the maximized likelihood for the model without any predictor and the maximized likelihood for the model with all predictors. I got a really low value (0,01%). Did I miss something? Are

writing polygons/segments to shapefiles (.shp) or other A rcGIS compatible file
The main limitation of the shapefiles package that I put together is that it does not create shapefiles from R objects - rather it only writes shapefiles that have been read into R and manipulated within the constraints of the existing file structure. By this I mean that for example you can change the coordinates of points and write them back out. Or you can add a bunch of blank columns in the

maptools, write.polylistShape
Dear Roger, I am trying to use the write.polylistShape() function of maptools for the first time and realize that it handles list of polygons of class 'polylist'. However, it seems that no as.polylist() function exist in the package. The question behind that is: in your opinion, which would be the best way to convert a list of matrix of polygon nodes coordinates into an object of

hierarchical partitioning
Dear all, I am trying to model variation of distribution of species assemblages according to environmental variables. For that I use a log linear multinomial regression. In order to select variables that mostly discriminate the assemblages, I tried to apply a hierarchical partitioning protocol to my data set. For that I have adapted the all.regs() for multinomial model. The problem is that I

RCMD check error windows
Dear Lister, I am working with Windows XP and R 2.1.0 and can check and build home-made packages easily (just *.r, *.rmd, *.rda files, no compiled code). However for some reasons, I cannot check or build the package 'foreign' from the source (I took it as an exercise...). After some lines of sentences OK (here omitted and replaced by ...), I get a message like this: RCMD check

multiple comparisons for lme using multcomp
Dear R-help list, I would like to perform multiple comparisons for lme. Can you report to me if my way to is correct or not? Please, note that I am not nor a statistician nor a mathematician, so, some understandings are sometimes quite hard for me. According to the previous helps on the topic in R-help list May 2003 (please, see Torsten Hothorn advices) and books such as Venables &

pseudo R-squared for model generated with spgm (splm)
I am working with the splm package. I use the spgm function: general estimation of a panel data model. Based on this approach, I know it is possible to compute a R2, eg the ratio of variation explained by a given model. My model is : bivmod<-spgm(logIKA~NBLITRE0+NBLITRE1,data=mydatap,listw=comsKnn.nbW,spatial.error=TRUE) I know that we can calculate the R^2 as the variance of the fitted

multicomp
Dear R people, I have heard rumors of a function called (I believe) multicomp in S+ for doing multiple comparisons for linear models. It doesn't seem to be in the version of R I am using, 0.90.0. Is there something equivalent to this in R, or does it simply not exist? I see there is are more recent versions of R. For my platform, SuSE Linux, the most recent rpm available appears to be

legend of maps generated by function symbols
I generated maps with the function symbols (graphics). These are basic maps generated with : symbols(x,y,circles=myvariable) where x et y are spatial coordinates corresponding to replicates of "myvariable". I would associate legend to this kind of maps, is it possible? Regards, Marion. -- Marion Jacquot Laboratoire de Chrono-environnement UMR UFC/CNRS 6249 USC INRA Universit? de

Basic questions on nls and bootstrap
Dear R community, I have currently some problems with non linear regression analysis in R. My data correspond to the degradation kinetic of a pollutant in two different soil A and B, x data are time in day and y data are pollutant concentration in soil. In a first time, I want to fit the data for the soil A by using the Ct = C0*exp(-k*Tpst) with Ct the concentration of pollutant at time t, C0

bootstrap function coefficients
Dear R community, Please, can you help me with a problem concerning bootstrap. The data table called «RMika», contained times (Tps) and corresponding concentration of a chemical in a soil (SolA). I would like to get, by bootstraping, 10 estimations of the parameters C0 and k from the function: SolA = C0*exp(-k*Tps). # First, I fit the data and all is OK >

multcomp, simint, simtest and computation duration
Dear R-listers, I am trying to compute simultaneous confidence intervals with simint from the package multcomp. 230 measures (abundance) have been taken in 23 sites (factor) of a data.frame (donnees: a file can be sent on request, saved with save(donnees, file="donnees")). I would like to get all pairwise comparisons with : mc<- simint(ren~ID,type="Tukey",data=donnees) I

How to use lmer function and multicomp package?
Dear list members, First of all thank you for your helpful advices. After your answeres to my firt mail I studied a lot (R-News n?5) and I tried to perform my analysis: First, to fit a GLM with a nested design I decided to use the function "lmer" in package "lme4" as suggested by Spencer Graves and Filippo Piro. I remember to you that my data were: land use classes, 3 levels

substring if value starts with a character
Hello togehter, i have a litte problem to convert a data.frame. My data.frame looks like this one A 1 R5000 2 R4800 3 R4700 4 3500 5 3800 I need now a command, which outputs all the numbers, without the character in front. The solution look like this one: A 1 5000 2 4800 3 4700 4 3500 5 3800 Thanks. Best regards. Mat -- View this message in context:
