format (?) problems with data imported from postgres
Good day, I read some data from a PostgreSQL database by a following script: library(Rdbi) library(RdbiPgSQL) # conn becomes an object which contains the DB connection: conn <- dbConnect(PgSQL(), host="localhost", dbname="BVS", user="postgres", password = "*******") query_duj_kal <- dbSendQuery(conn, "select zdroj as well, cas as date, fe2,

Cross-tabulation of data from database
I am quite new to R, so please bear over with me if I have problems with the R terminology. I want to (try to) use R for some analyses within vegetation ecology, using the vegan package. I have my data in a postgresql database, and I manage to get them into R as a dataframe with columns for respectively: Name of the analysed m2, Name of the species, coverage of species in the square in %. Lightbox and RJS
Hi, I am trying to include lightbox functionality in my app, but there is a slight complication. Apparently lightbox initializes all the links to lightbox events on page load. However, in my case, some new links to lightbox events will be rendered to the page through ajax events (obviously this means after the page loads). So I figure I need to find a way to call lightbox''s

Unable to get past Tutorial 1 in RubyOnRails
Unable to get past Tutorial 1 in RubyOnRails On 29 April 2006 I met some one in a Microsoft sponsored developers? community gahering. I was told that ruby on rails is a free software, easy to use, and in no time will have my mind blown with all the wonderful prospects and possibilities. After almost a week, I am still unable to get past tutorial 1 and still unable to make any tutorials work

apply function returning different results
For some reason when I apply a function to a single row in R it works, but when that same row is in a data.frame it does not, see below: apply(dx[954,], 1, query.db) 2571 1092 0.06044147 3890 0.05948577 3273 0.05911261 794 0.05855583 4241 0.05854064 3560 0.05602690 apply(dx[954:955,], 1, query.db) $`2571` numeric(0) $`1194` 908 3754 5119 2835

... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal. RSPec and rails 2.0 plan
Hello all, I''m just wondering what the overall game plan is here. Right now when I use rails 2.0 pre release with rspec trunk, I run into a LOT of problems (lot is not an understatement here). Some are solved by removing the test unit adapter layer, others by countless hacks, etc, eventually i decided not to use rails 2.0 pre release, and wait for something more in-tune with it. Anyway

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel. #Reproducible script Empdata<- read.csv("/Users/ngwinuiazenui/Documents/UPLOADemp.csv") View(Empdata) install.packages("systemfit")

Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of smarter folks than I on it who can help. I may or may not have time to look at this. Hopefully someone else will. -- Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is that people keep coming along and sticking things into it." -- Opus (aka Berkeley Breathed in his "Bloom County" comic strip

Samba 3.0.8 breaks all printing from Windows 98
We have small panic here as we've just put samba 3.0.8 up to fix the DoS attack but all printing from Windows 98 has now broken. Printing from Windows XP is still working fine. We're running on Fedora 2 using LPRng. Everything was working fine under 3.0.7 and no changes to the OS or the config files was made. Samba was upgraded to 3.0.8 using the configure line from the 3.0.7

problem adding columns to matrix
Hi all, i purchased a copy of the book Morphometrics with R by Springer. at the end of each chapter there are exercises to train what you just read and (hope) learned... so i have this problem: Define a hypothetical data frame containing five measurments normally distributed(size, head, pectoral, area, weight) for four individuals (named ind1, ind2, etc). ADD A COLUMN corresponding to the

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end. I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis. I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

multi-class classification using rpart
Hi, I am trying to make a multi-class classification tree by using rpart. I used MASS package'd data: fgl to test and it works well. However, when I used my small-sampled data as below, the program seems to take forever. I am not sure if it is due to slowness or there is something wrong with my codes or data manipulation. Please be advised ! The data is described as the output from str()

About logistic regression
Hi, I have a dichotomous variable (Q1) whose answers are Yes or No. Also I have 2 categorical explanatory variables (V1 and V2) with two levels each. I used logistic regression to determine whether there is an effect of V1, V2 or an interaction between them. I used the R and SAS, just for the conference. It happens that there is disagreement about the effect of the explanatory variables
