Package install problem on Windows (PR#13284)
Full_Name: Lars Hansen
Version: 2.8.0
OS: Windows XP Pro x64 SP2
Submission from: (NULL) (71.39.177.36)
Hi,
I have run into a problem using "R CMD INSTALL" with the
"--with-package-versions" option under Windows. It is a bit obscure, which could
explain why other people have not run into it.
We happen to have two packages with almost the same name. One name is a subset

Lazy loading... advices
Hello,
I am looking for more information about lazy loading introduced in R 2.0.0.
Doing
?lazyLoad
I got some and there is a 'see also' section that points to
'makeLazyLoading'... But I cannot reach this page.
My problem is: I recompiled a library that uses a lot of functions from
other libraries (of course I can give details if needed). I load it in my
computer: library(svGUI),

Byte compilation of packages on CRAN
In DESCRIPTION if I set LazyLoad to 'yes' will data.table (for example)

This question is based on reading section 1.2 of this document :

Mature SOAP Interface for R
Hello, we are writing rich internet user interfaces and like to call R
for some of the computational needs on the data, as well as some
creation of image files. Our objects communicate via the SOAP
interface. We have been researching the various packages to expose R as
a SOAP service.
No current CRAN SOAP packages however.

New lazyload rdx key type: list(eagerKey=, lazyKeys=)
Prior to R-3.6.0 the keys in the lazyload key files, e.g.
pkg/data/Rdata.rdx or pkg/R/pkg.rdx, seemed to all be 2-long integer
vectors. Now they can be lists. The ones I have seen have two components,
"eagerKey" is a 2-long integer vector and "lazyKeys" is a named list of
2-long integer vectors.

how to remove the 'promise' attribute of an R object (.Random.seed)?
Hi,
The problem arises when I lazyLoad() the .Random.seed from a
previously saved database. To simplify the process of reproducing the
problem, see the example below:
## this assignment may not really make sense, but illustrates the problem
delayedAssign('.Random.seed', 1L)
typeof(.Random.seed)
# [1] "integer"
rnorm(1)
# Error in rnorm(1) :
# .Random.seed is not an integer

Building GUI for custom R application
HI R users,
I would appreciate information/examples/suggestions on building GUIs
for R applications.
I am currently working on a project that would require the following
functionalities :
1) Display a window to the user. Provide a function to scan local
drive and choose dataset file.
2) Display the column names for the user to choose the dependent
variable and the independent variables.
3) Fit

[Pv-ops][PATCH 0/4 v4] Netback multiple threads support
This is netback multithread support patchset version 4.
Main Changes from v3:
1. Patchset is against xen/next tree.
2. Merge group and idx into netif->mapping.
3. Use vmalloc to allocate netbk structures.
Main Changes from v2:
1. Merge "group" and "idx" into "netif->mapping", therefore
page_ext is not used now.
2. Put netbk_add_netif() and netbk_remove_netif()

When to use LazyLoad, LazyData and ZipData?
Dear developeRs,
I've searched the documentation, FAQ, and mailing lists, but haven't
found the answer(*) to the following:
When should one specify LazyLoad, LazyData, and ZipData?
And what is the default if they are left unspecified?
(*)Except that
1) If the package you are writing uses the methods package, specify
LazyLoad: yes, and
2) The optional ZipData field controls whether the

how to run R as a daemon
Hi all,
Using R a as a real-time application called by Php for a website, I
would like to run one R process only, which would manage user
connections. For the time each user who asks for an analysis causes a
new R process to start, which is not suitable in prevision of many
users. R needs about 30 seconds to run the script which makes the
analysis. The problem is that this waiting time is n

samba 4.x slow ...
Hi,
we are running samba 4.4 on two machines as file servers.
Both are running a GFS (stornext). The storage is attached using 8G HBA.
You can get up to 800MB/s local speed. We are exporting the shares using
2x1GB
and 2x10G. However the clients are only getting 40-50MB/s. With samba3 I
think we had up to 80-90MB/s.
Using a 100MB/s link for the client we see 12-13MB/s (wire speed).

Help with hclust() and plot()
Hi
When I use plot(hclust(dist..)...)...) etc to create a dendrogram of a
hierarchial cluster analysis, I end up with a vertical tree. What do I
need to do to get a horizontal tree?
Also, my users are used to seeing trees who's leaves all "end" at the
same place (eg. Like in minitab). Is this possible in R?
Thanks
