3d plots?
Hi all I'm trying to create a three-dimensional wireframe-type plot, much like the screenshot shown at http://www.r-project.org/screenshots/volcano-persp.jpg In my case, I'm trying to show a density estimate of two-variable system, using the GenKern package. I've used the image() and contour() to create a nice shaded plot, but I've found a 3d plot is often easier for the

two perspective plots in in plot
Dear all, I would like to put two perspective plots into one plot. The help page for ?persp shows how one can add points and lines but not another perspective plot. data(volcano) z <- 2 * volcano # Exaggerate the relief x <- 10 * (1:nrow(z)) # 10 meter spacing (S to N) y <- 10 * (1:ncol(z)) # 10 meter spacing (E to W) ## Don't draw the grid lines : border = NA persp(x,

Problem in calling R functions from Matlab
Hi, I wish to use R (version 2.13.1)?from within Matlab(ver R2009a) on windows XP plaform (on both 64 bit and 32 bit OS) . For this I have installed StatConnector (http://rcom.univie.ac.at/download/current/statconnDCOM.latest.exe) for calling R from within Matlab (R2009a) on Windows XP platform. I have added all the files of MATLAB_RLINK folder (downloaded from

3d images
Hi, The screenshots page of the R-project contains nice 3d images: "3d plot of a surface" and "image and 3d plot of a volcano". What packages were used to generate these images? Or What packages have 3d plotting capabilities? thanks pawel -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

overlaying points and lines on a surface3d rgl plot with axes
Hi R users and experts, I am interested in learning more about the use of 3D plots. Specifically, I want to add points and lines to a surface plot. And get the axes and labels plotted also. Here is what I have tried with an example data set : library(rgl) vol2 <- 2*volcano # Exaggerate the relief library(reshape) mvol2 <- melt(vol2) str(mvol2) # First, persp and persp3d plots do not succeed

How to use Rpad
I am a beginner and I don't know how to use Rpad package. I installed it and opened the following example .Rpad page in Internet Explorer. When I clicked "Calculate" button, nothing seems to happen. Can anyone tell me how to use Rpad? <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN"> <html> <!-- by Tom Short, EPRI, tshort at epri.com (c) Copyright 2005 by

3-D plot of likelihood
Could anyone recommend a package for visualizing a likelihood function of two scalar parameters? I would prefer a three-dimensional plot similar to the kind Mathematica is known for, perhaps generated by a package not specific to likelihood. David ______________________________ David R. Persp and color
How can I control de "wrap-around" color behaviour in the persp function ? I am using something like : persp(bb[1:100,2:97], col= rainbow(8,start=0.1, end=0.8))) Depending on the rainbow length value I get several "wrap-around" blocks of the selected color range...something that I wanted to avoid... My idea is to use the color in order to make a separation from a certain

Computer Modern Fonts in R graphic
Hello all, I am trying to use computer modern fonts in my r grahics. I tried to do, as described here: http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~paul/R/CM/CMR.html but unfortunately, it does not work. First of all I downloaded the cm-lgc package and the AFM and PFB-files from the page and put them in my R working directory, so far, so good. Then I tried to run the following code: > sn <-

R-alpha: R 0.50.a1: small patches for graphics and image demo
Applying the following patches closes the following task (part 1 was already taken care of). TASK: New Problems STATUS: Open FROM: <Kurt.Hornik@ci.tuwien.ac.at> New minor remarks: * The documentation for `image' still has the old order z, x, y. * Perhaps one should add `par(ask = T)' in the image demo? * Perhaps one should save the original value

3-D scatter plot laid over Surface plot
Hello, I have created a Fitness surface (persp()), with data that was created by a tp spline procedure. Now I would like to superimpose a set (XYZ) of existing points (from two different treatments) onto this surface. I didn't come across any function or command that is able to do this in R. Could somebody please help me in finding a solution to this problem Thank you Peter --

pb with Date format using filled.contour
Hi R-help community, Can anyone tell me why, while using : x <- seq(as.Date("2001-01-01"),as.Date("2001-01-01") + nrow(volcano)-1,1) y <- seq(1, ncol(volcano),1) when I plot the volcano matrix with that command : filled.contour(x,y,volcano) the graph has a Date format on X-axis, ok ... ... but when adding a contour plot to the filled contour, using this

Adding a distance scale to a plot?
Do you know what steps I need to take to add a scale to a plot? I'm pulling my example out of "An Introduction to R: Software for StatisticalModelling & Computing" (see the R code around Figure 76). I would like to add a scale to the image produced by the following code.? I would like to the scale to list the distance?and units:? data(volcano) x <- 10*(1:nrow(volcano)) y

Color index in image function
Dear All, I was looking for the color index in?image function,?such as from topo.colors(n) and etc. but still never found it. For instance, from the help menu. ########################################### # Volcano data visualized as matrix. Need to transpose and flip # matrix horizontally. image(t(volcano)[ncol(volcano):1,]) # A prettier display of the volcano x <- 10*(1:nrow(volcano)) y

customizing color key with plot3D
Karline, Thank you for your help. I discovered that in addition to including clim, I needed to omit breaks. This code uses one of your other examples as a starting point and works as intended: persp3D(z = volcano, zlim = c(-60, 200), phi = 20, colkey = list(length = 0.2, width = 0.4, shift = 0.15, cex.axis = 0.8, cex.clab = 0.85), lighting = TRUE, lphi = 90, clab =

Surface Graphic
Hello list! I have a problem with the function 'persp'. I have a data set with the variables X -> The X coordenate of the insect Y -> The Y coordenate of the insect deep-> how deep the insect buried into the soil. I would like to have a plot with a surface simulating the way the insect buried. Is it possible? If I type persp(x,y,deep) R gives me this error message Error in

persp graphs
Hi, I am doing my way on R, with much experimenting. So, I am trying to plot a 3d graphic ussing "persp" and entering a data set (attached) of UTM coordinates as x,y and a pH values as z. However when I try an error message comes out telling that increasing x and y values are expected. Jus ordering the first vector does not help, and, of course, order the first two independently

behavior of squishplot in TeachingDemos
Hi list, I wonder if anyone has had this experience with squishplot() in the TeachingDemos package. Taking the example from the ?image help page, library(TeachingDemos) x <- 10*(1:nrow(volcano)) y <- 10*(1:ncol(volcano)) layout(matrix(c(1,2,3,4),ncol=2,byrow=TRUE),height=c(2,1)) ## 1st plot op <- squishplot(range(x),range(y),1) image(x, y, volcano, col = terrain.colors(100)) par(op)

shading in image()
Is there a way to make a shading interpolation on an image plot? Something similar to matlab 'shading interp', I think it is called Gouraud shading. What I want is to make a image plot look nicer. with image() it looks very facetted, and I would like to make it look smoother. I've tried with interp.surface() in fields package but it (obviously) makes nan values at the borders and
