Squirrelmail - messages not marked as read
As of test-60 and test-61, running Squirrelmail 1.5.1[cvs] on
FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE, messages are not marked as read after they
are read.
If I switch back to test-59, it works normally.
When switching back to test-59, with log_path = /var/log/dovelog
dovelog shows:

"Delayed Write Failed" and other similar errors on Windows machines
I am experiencing an error which has been reported on the internet
since Samba 2.2.7 and Windows 2000. There are many suggestions as
to the cause of this problem, but no working solutions that I've been
able to find. I've already invested two weeks on this problem.
I was running Samba 3.0.7 under Mandrake for the last year, and
this problem was not present. Because Mandrake had other

lm with predictor matrix
Hello,
can someone give me an example of how to fit a linear model where the
response is a matrix, please? (other than a loop over lm calls)
The ?lm points me to model.matrix but it is not clear to me how to use a
model matrix in an lm call.
fit<-lm(headmatrix ~ tailmatrix) causes problems as soon as I
use predict(fit, newframe). The variables in tailmatrix are not found in

Right shift for normality
Hello,
My data is discrete, taking values between around -5 and +5.
I cannot give bounds for the values. So I consider it as
numerical data and not categorical data.
The histogram has a 'normal' shape, so
I test for normality via a chisquare statistic (by calculating the expected
values by hand).
When I use the sample mean and variance, the normality hypothesis has to be
rejected.

netCDF, ncdf library
Dear all,
I would like to use data in .netcdf format and for those I have to use
the netCDF or ncdf packages.
Problem : these packages don't seem to work :
"Error in testRversion(descfields) : This package has not been
installed properly
See the Note in ?library" (with netCDF package)
Does anybody have the same problems with these packages ?
Is there any

Troubles installing RMySQL on Win2K
What do I need to do to load the RMySQL library on Win 2K using version 1.8.1

Using RGUI I have loaded RMySQL and an appropriate directory structure has
appeared under
C:\Program Files\R\rw1081\library\RMySQL
I have added C:\Program Files\R\rw1081\library\RMySQL\inst\libs to my path

contributed packages and downloads questions
Hello,
I am trying to download two library files: multiv and e1071 to do principal
components analysis. I was able to unzip the folders to my R directory, but
when I type library(multiv) in the console I get an error message: Error in
testRversion(descfields) : This package has not been installed properly
See the Note in ?library
So, it seems that I am not downloading these two library files

Mixreg package
Dear R users
it's my first time using R and I am specially interested in doing analyses with the "mixreg" package.
I use W2000 but it seems the code for R is available only for Linux Os. Anyway I I downloaded the *tar.gz file of the package for R and the converted it in a *zip file.
Apparently the installation process was ok, but when loading it I got the following error:

Installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
Hi,
I'm thankful for any help on installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
The thread
http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/01/1021.html
already tried to discuss the matter. It concludes that Windows Sources for Packages are alike the Linux ones.
So I extracted the files from the RMySQL_*.tar.gz from
http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html
and stuffed them into a zip-file

Interfacing R and Python in MS Windows
Hi all,
I need the power of R from within some of my Python programs...
I use debian linux (woody) at home and windows XP at work (the
latter is where I need to get things done!)
This are my packages:
R 1.8.0
Python 2.3
RSPython 0.5-3
This is what I've done:
(1) Since the Windows Binary of RSPython is compiled against
Python 2.2 I downloaded the tarball

R1.8.0 and virtual PC (PR#4708)
Dear Sir/Madam
First, I should tell that I'm using virtual PC "w2k" in a mac osx 10.2.
The problem: I recently downloaded the windows version 1.8.0. I found
the following problem with the instruction plot.
E.g., if I type the following instructions, I got the following error
message:
> x = 1:10
> y = 2*x
> plot(x,y)
Hit <Return> to see next plot:

Read SPSS data (*.sav) in R 1.8.0 (ok) and R1.9.1(error)
Hallo!
I read SPSS data in the following way:
library(Hmisc)
library(foreign)
dat<-spss.get("surv_abb.sav")
In R1.9.1 I got the message:
"Error in all(arg == choices) : Object "typeDate" not
found"
In R1.8.0 the same script works fine.
Does anybody know a possibilty to read a SPSS file
under R1.9.1?
Thanks!

options
merci

Database Connectivity Performance Comparison with ROracle
R users have a few choices of how to connect to their Oracle Database.
The most commonly seen include: RODBC, RJDBC, and ROracle. However,
these three packages have significantly different performance and
scalability characteristics which can greatly impact application
development. This blog article
