S4 methods for rbind()
Hello. I am trying to write an S4 method for rbind(). I have a class of objects called 'mdm', and I want to be able to rbind() them to one another. I do not want the method for rbind() to coerce anything to an mdm object. I want rbind(x1,x2,x1,x2) to work as expected [ie rbind() should take any number of arguments]. This is what I have so far: setGeneric(".rbind_pair",

S4 package warning
Hello everyone. R-2.12.0, suse linux 11.3. I am debugging a package that uses S4 methods and R CMD check gives the following warning: > Warning in methods::findMethods(g, env) : > non-generic function 'mdm' given to findMethods() > See the information on DESCRIPTION files in the chapter 'Creating R > packages' of the 'Writing R Extensions' manual. S4 and head() problems
Hi I am having difficulty defining an S4 method for head() and tail(). I can't quite provide minimal self-contained code because the problem appears to require the whole corpus of my package; and there also appears to be a difference between sourcing the lines directly, and having them installed in a package. The lines in question (I think) are: setClass("mdm",

constructing arbitrary (positive definite) covariance matrix
Dear list, I am trying to use the 'mvrnorm' function from the MASS package for simulating multivariate Gaussian data with given covariance matrix. The diagonal elements of my covariance matrix should be the same, i.e., all variables have the same marginal variance. Also all correlations between all pair of variables should be identical, but could be any value in [-1,1]. The problem I am

Maildirmake equiv?
Since I am using dovecot I do not have courier installed, but Courier had a very handy tool for making maildir folders called `maildirmake` which I used in some automated backup scripts. How do I duplicate maildirmake in dovecot? for example: #!/bin/bash # v1.2a Testing for new dovecot install # Archive mail from folders without [0-9]{4} Maildirs # after they are 21 days old to a yearly folder

Monitoring bandwidth, latency, packet drop.
Hi all. I am currently thinking about monitoring a network link (bandwidth, latency, packet drop). I have a centos server which is connected to providers network through a switch. How to test the link? Should I: - use ICMP to ping gateway and collect staistics of time/packet loss/etc. - use software like here: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-unix-windows-monitor-outgoing-bandwidth-latency/

Raid1 degraded mode
I am trying to understand how btrfs works with Raid1. Is it possible to create the filesystem with -m raid1 -d raid1 in which there is only one device available when the filesystem is created. Is it possible to refer to a second device as "missing" The use case I am thinking of is converting an existing raid1 setup from mdm + lvm + ext4 to btrfs with raid1 and subvolumes. I would

glmmPQL probelm
Dear listers, First let me appologize if the same mail arrives multiple times. Recently I had some probelms sending my e-mails to the list. I encountered a problem when running glmmPQL procuedure doing multilevel modeling with a dichotomous outcome. Those are the two error messages I usually get: Error in logLik.reStruct(object, conLin) : NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call (arg 3)

group export - print queue
Hello, I'm very happy to provide Linux solutions for windows client, but I'm not completly satisfied on 2 points. 1. Often, when I creat a windows file and print server; I creat it in domain controler. Now I havn't find a possibility to export domain group into local group in each client. Acctualy i must put each domain user into the apporpriate local group. It make so musch time

R-devel RNG change
I find the documention for RNGversion in R-devel is a bit misleading, and suggest adding a sentence to make it clear that the meaning of "default" is not set to its meaning in the earlier R version: `RNGversion' can be used to set the random generators as they were in an earlier R{} version (for reproducibility). RNGversion does not set the meaning of
