Command line R / PHP?
Greetings All,
Just a quick query about calling R. Looking through the manual you start R
with $ R, and then start calling R functions e.g plot whatever. Sounds
pretty funky, and R looks to be *the* open source maths package. Awesome
... I would like to call R from my favourite glue language PHP (rather than
call perl which calls R) if possible. To call R from the command line is

Mature SOAP Interface for R
Hello, we are writing rich internet user interfaces and like to call R
for some of the computational needs on the data, as well as some
creation of image files. Our objects communicate via the SOAP
interface. We have been researching the various packages to expose R as
a SOAP service.
No current CRAN SOAP packages however.

R as shared library
Hello folks,
I'm embarking on a project to embed R into the Apache web server, and
I'd like your help. Currently, I'm looking for a way for R code to call
back into a shared library from which the R shared library was loaded.
Essentially, apache starts and loads mod_R.so which runs an
initialization routine which calls Rf_initEmbeddedR() and the following
code:

Building GUI for custom R application
HI R users,
I would appreciate information/examples/suggestions on building GUIs
for R applications.
I am currently working on a project that would require the following
functionalities :
1) Display a window to the user. Provide a function to scan local
drive and choose dataset file.
2) Display the column names for the user to choose the dependent
variable and the independent variables.
3) Fit

how to run R as a daemon
Hi all,
Using R a as a real-time application called by Php for a website, I
would like to run one R process only, which would manage user
connections. For the time each user who asks for an analysis causes a
new R process to start, which is not suitable in prevision of many
users. R needs about 30 seconds to run the script which makes the
analysis. The problem is that this waiting time is n

Persistent state of R
Hi
I am using R as a back-end to some CGI scripts, written in Perl. My platform is Suse Linux 8.2, Apache 1.3.7. So the CGI script takes some form parameters, opens a pipe to an R process, loads up some Bioconductor libraries, executes some R commands and takes the ouput and creates a web page. It is all very neat and works well.
I am trying to make my cgi scripts quicker and it turns out

Dynamic visualisation of R data using Adobe FLEX
Hi useRs,
I had posted about Adobe FLEX talking to R for rich visualisation.
Reply from Jeffery Horner contained links to the
revolution-computing.com webpage which had information pertaining to
the Bay Users R group Meetup on Web Dashboards with R.
I have a very specific project that I need to implement.
I wish to use the graphics capabilities provided by Adobe FLEX to
visualise outputs from R.

ESRI shape file import and time-space models
Dear R user,
I am running R under Windows 2000.
I am looking for a routine for importing
- shape files (ESRI) into R
- dbase files (FOXPRO) into R
and I am looking for time-space models for description and prediction of
Bernoulli-, Binomial- and Poissonvaraibles.
Thank's a lot for a reply.

[PATCH 0/2] resize: Split out the command line parsing into Cmdline
Some simple refactoring of virt-resize.
I originally had the idea that we could turn virt-resize into a
library (cf. virt-customize) and use it from virt-builder, but I now
don't think that would make any meaningful difference. In particular
we'd still have to open the handle the same number of times.
These two patches are left over from my work on that.
Rich.

R as a server on Linux
Hi,
I am trying to avid the somewhat costly startup overhead of launching
a separate R executable for each "client" request on Linux.
My current architecture is such that My Java client explicitly calls
R in batch mode and passes it certain parameters. The initital
startup takes almost 10 seconds because R has to load a bunch of
libraries as well as a moderately large, previously

[PATCH] febootstrap-supermin-helper: Replace objcopy call for embedding init binary
objcopy needs "output-target" and "binary-architecture" parameters
which makes it necessary to keep a list of known architectures.
The bin2s.pl script generates input for the GNU assembler which should
produce an object file that is equivalent to that produced by objcopy.
I have successfully tested the change on an amd64 Debian/unstable system.

currency conversion webservice in a rails app?
Hi,
I''m interested in using a currency conversion web service in my rails
app. Does anyone have a free service that they use and like? I found
this one
http://www.webservicex.net/WS/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=10
I''ve tried to make a simple, plain Ruby script to connect to this and
get a conversion rate without success.
How do I integrate a webservice into my rails app? I

Here's how you can do a single file (i.e., an unlinked executable):
llvmg++ -c infile.cpp -o - | llc -march=c -o infile.cbe.c
Reid might be able to tell you how to do it with a single command using
the llvmc tool.

Getting error while running unix commands within R using system() function
Hello All,
I use Cygwin ( unix on windows) heavily for all my text data processing.
Also use Cygwin inbuilt *R* to do numerical processing.
*My aim is to integrate R and unix commands to avoid heavy memory usage that
R takes normally.*
I can run many unix commands using system("some unix command or sh script.sh
or even R file itself ") inside R.
But, When I tried to run the command
