Combined Marimekko/heatmap
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out a way to create a data graphic that I haven't ever seen an example of before, but hopefully there's an R package out there for it. The idea is to essentially create a heatmap, but to allow each column and/or row to be a different width, rather than having uniform column and row height. This is sort of like a Marimekko chart in appearance, except that

Arguments name IR LLVM
Hi everybody, I want to read the name of the arguments of fucntion IR LLVM, I have the following function define: define void @vecadd(i32, float* nocapture readonly, float* nocapture readonly, float* nocapture) local_unnamed_addr #0 { As we see, the argument has no name, if we look at call function in main function we see the arguments name (a, b and c): call void @vecadd(i32 10, float*

Problem with lsa package (data.frame) on Windows XP
Dear R team, The following piece of code (to use the lsa package) works fine on my mac os x, but when I run the same code on Windows XP, it doesn't work any more. ### code: library("lsa") matrix1 = textmatrix("C:\\Documents and Settings\\tine stalmans.TINE. 000\\LSA\\cuentos\\", stemming=TRUE, language="spanish", minWordLength=2, minDocFreq=1,

Mixing text and graphics in PDF
Is there an easy way to "sink" text output to a pdf file using the pdf() device? Here's an email that describes setting up empty graphics plots and then using the "text" command to put text on page: http://www.r-project.org/nocvs/mail/r-help/2002/5598.html I'm just looking for something a little more polished -- automatic page breaks, line wrapping, etc. Kevin

new to R: don't understand errors
Hello all, I'm brand new to the use of R, and I'm trying to quickly learning the rudiments for a couple of projects here at work. I'm working with the lsa package and trying to generate various semantic spaces. I seem to do well with small collections of clean text files, but now that I am trying to work with larger collections of less than perfection files, I'm getting errors

Cannot allocate vector size of... ?
Hello all, I've been working with R & Fridolin Wild's lsa package a bit over the past few months, but I'm still pretty much a novice. I have a lot of files that I want to use to create a semantic space. When I begin to run the initial textmatrix( ), it runs for about 3-4 hours and eventually gives me an error. It's always "ERROR: cannot allocate vector size of xxx

lattice question: how to change the dot on boxplot to line
Hi, How does one change the dot for the median in a boxplot drawn using lattice? I have been looking at > names(trellis.par.get()) [1] "grid.pars" "fontsize" "background" [4] "panel.background" "clip" "add.line" [7] "add.text" "plot.polygon"

[RFC PATCH v3] virito-serial: A guest <-> host interface
Hello, This is a new iteration of the patches that implement virtio-serial. Changes include: * Adding support for port hot-add * Creating ports at specific ids that can be bound to specific apps / usage * Cleanups This code still doesn't get rid of the support for assigning names to ports but it just has to be ripped out. Comments welcome. Thanks, Amit.

Use of all/any
all/any coerce their arguments to logical (if possible). I've added a warning in R-devel if coercion is from something other than integer. This arose because it is easy to make a slip and write all(X) > 0 rather than all(X > 0): thanks to Bill Dunlap for bringing that to my attention. However, it has been useful in detecting quite a few other things: - indices which had been made

Troubles with stemming (tm + Snowball packages) under MacOS
Dear all, I have some troubles using the stemming algorithm provided by the tm (text mining) + Snowball packages. Here is my config: MacOS 10.5 R 2.12.0 / R 2.13.1 / R 2.14.1 (I have tried several versions) I have installed all the needed packages (tm, rJava, rWeka, Snowball) + dependencies. I have desactivated AWT (like written in

virtio-serial: An interface for host-guest communication
Hello all, This are the latest version of the patches. Lots of things have changed since the last submission. A few of which I remember: - VNC copy / paste works* (* conditions apply) - client vnc copies get propagated to guest port 3 (/dev/vmch3) - guest writes to port 3 (/dev/vmch3) go straight to client's clipboard - sysfs hooks to autodiscover ports - support for 64 ports in this

New trellis settings
I've just upgraded to 2.0.1 and was taken by surprise by the changes in graphical parameter handling for lattice plots. I'd previously been using 1.9.1. The old settings seem to have been replaced by a daunting number of new options. I've poked around a bit and have not seen any discussion of the changes in the newsletter or on r-help but maybe I'm overlooking something?

latticeExtra: useOuterStrips and axis.line$lwd
Hi, I'm working on some lattice wireframe figures that have two conditioning factors, and I want the strips labelled on the top and left of the entire plot, rather than above each individual panel. useOuterStrips() does this, but it draws internal axis lines, even after I explicitly set axis.line to 0. Is there a way to use useOuterStrips but without axis boxes? I've included a short

Multiple ports support for virtio_console; major number for dev
Hello, This is the patch that I have for adding support for multiple ports to virtio_console. It's pretty stable in my testing so far and the memory corruption that I had earlier has been resolved in linux-next so I'm proposing this for inclusion. This currently uses device major number 60 from the experimental range; Alan could you please reserve a new major number for virtio_console?

virtio-serial: A guest <-> host interface for simple communication
Hello, Here are two patches. One implements a virtio-serial device in qemu and the other is the driver for a guest kernel. While working on a vmchannel interface that is needed for communication between guest userspace and host userspace, I saw that most of the interface can be abstracted out as a "serial" device with "ports". Some requirements for a vmchannel are listed at
