how to get a line plot before/after treatment
Dear R help-list reader,
I would like to generate a plot which compares to states in a patient
treatment, before and after. for this reason I have generated a vector
before<-c(1,30,23,40)
and
after<-c(20,10,20,60)
the first element in "before" corresponds to the first element in "after".
I would like and generate a dotplot with
before and after as x-scale, the elements

I have a problem with the log2 function
Dear R users,
according the help(log), the function
log2(x) should give the natural logarithm of x.
I expect in case of x=2 to to get 0.6931, however, R gives me 1 as a result.
Similar, logb(2,2) gives 1 again.
I'm wondering if I have missed something ?
Yours

help with Tukey Mean-Difference Plot
Dear R users,
I would appreciate for some advise how to generate a Tukey
Mean-Difference Plot with the tmd function part of the lattice

correlation on a scatterplot. However the correlation line is
parallel displaced depending on a clinical condition. I thought to a

For me as a beginner a cookbook would be welcome. so many great code

In this respect, Detlef Steuer (suggestion , might be a solution

? building a database with a the great examples
Dear R help reader,
I'm not an expert in R and are lerning a lot by reading the help
digest, which is sometimes difficult because the huge amount of data
posted. I have posted some questions before, and are impressed how
quick I got a solution for my problem. Sometimes with quite different
suggestions. I was always wondering if my questions didn't come up
before. On the other site,

Linking in R package documentation
I have two straightforward questions about linking in the man pages for R packages:
First, is it possible to link from within parts of the documentation that are not the \seealso section? For example, I would like to have something like:

ERROR: missing backlink attribute 'memberOf'
Good Morning (or not),
I am running three Samba AD DCs all at version 4.7.2 on Ubuntu 16.04.
All three have run flawlessly for over a year.
Last night one of the DCs started failing Replication with both the
other DCs so I decided to run samba-tool dbcheck .

peering inside functions in a package?
Let's say I would like to look inside the function corBrownian in library
(ape). When I type in the function name I get the following, which is not
nearly the detail that goes into this function. I am wondering how to
begin cracking this function open (and others) so I can learn more about it
and perhaps code my own corClass one day. Thanks.

corSpatial and nlme
I noticed that ?corClasses in package nlme does not list corSpatial among the standard classes. This might either be intentional because corSpatial is not "standard" , or it might be simply an oversight that needs correcting.

creating a new corClass for lme()
Hi,
I have been using the function lme() of the package nlme to model grouped
data that is auto-correlated in time and in space (the data was collected on
different days via a moving monitor). I am aware that I can use the
correlation classes corCAR1 and corExp (among other options) to model the
temporal and spatial components of the auto-correlation. However, as far as
I can tell, I can only

Winfried,
Good question. Since Linux-2.2.* has hit the streets, I'm guessing there
may be wider interest in this sort of thing so I'm CC'ing my reply to
linux-security.

WINS and domain controller
Hi,
Is there any way to 'administer' Samba's WINS database? I'm attempting to
get Samba to take over our NT servers' current functionality so that we
can ditch them entirely. I've enabled WINS support and told our DHCP
server to point at it. Is there any way of viewing it's database to see if
it's working?
Also, our XP boxes connect to a domain which is

ID from child table not handled by AR
Hi all,
Im slowly moving forward, but there''s something a miss. I can save some
relational records to tables, but only once. For an unknown reason, the
primary key (id) of the child table is not automatically increased. (I can
only perform one save, (the first records id field holds the value ''0'') and
during the next save it says:

assuming AR(1) residuals in OLS
Hi to all,
In other statistical software, such as Eviews, it is possible to
regress a model with the Least Squares method, assuming that the
residuals follow an AR(q) process.
For example the resulting regression is something like
y = 1.2154 + 0.2215 x + 0.251 AR(1)
How is it possible to do the same in R?
Thank you very much in advance,

question about corStruct
dear list,
I am wondering if one can find examples and/or more detailed
descriptions of modifications needed when going beyond standard
corStruct classes (i.e. those already provided for use in lme/nlme)?
When I looked at pages 238-239 of Pinheiro/Bates (2000): Mixed-effects
models in S and S-plus, I found that I would need a bit more explicit
guidance what to do for implementing a new

Merb test harness
Ezra,
* test harness in new generated merb apps with helpers for testing
merb without starting a server.
* pin down plugin arch
Seems to me that these two tasks go together unless you want to have
rspec built in Merb.
Regarding the test harness, my understanding is that:
- a developer should be able to easily write specs against a merb application.
- a developer should not need to start a merb
