Annotate a levelplot (using abline) - Difficulty with trellis.
Hi,
I am generating a beautiful plot with the 'levelplot' function over my
square matrix of data. In order to help visualise the data I would
like to draw a diagonal line on the matrix. Because the plot is
actually a trellis object, I am having difficulty working out how to
do this. I have been reading around, but I don't see any easy solution
to the problem. (Most of the docs I have

PAN: Need Help for Multiple Imputation Package
Hello all. I am trying to run PAN, multilevel
multiple imputation program, in R to impute missing
data in a longitudinal dataset. I could successfully
run the multiple imputation when I only imputed one
variable. However, when I tried to impute a
time-varying covariate as well as a response variable,
I received an error message, “Error: subscript out of
bounds.” Can anyone tell if my commands

Lattice: no grid name space
The following now occurs to me when I try to
load lattice (R 1.7.1, debian stable):

Error in loadNamespace(i, c(lib.loc, .libPaths()), keep.source) :
package `grid' does not have a name space
Error in library(lattice) : package/namespace load failed
I did an update.packages() as root recently.
Any idea what's wrong?

How to alter circle size
Hello all,
I'm trying to create a heatmap using 2 matrices I have: z and v. Both
matrices represent different correlations for the same independent
variables. The problem I have is that I wish to have the values from matrix
z to be represented by color intensity while having the values from matrix v
to be represented by circle size. I currently have the following in front of
me and an unsure

Color intervals in image.plot function
Hi,
The script below is my current coding in order to produce a contour plot of temperature across altitude and time. In my case,?time, altitude and temperature?are represented by x, y and z variables.

bubble plots
Dear all,
I'm used to draw bubble plots (gstat) to get a first view of my spatial
marked data, but I can't find a way to label legend with marks after having
replaced them by a numeric scale.
I have a data frame with numeric coords and factors:

[R-sig-Geo] plot() and Jpeg() increase font size and resolution
Thanks to Edzer and Roger,
I can now plot with increased font sizes. However, jpeg still does not
reproduce these, nor does it show up in high quality. What I would like
to do is produce some highresolution jpegs.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanx

Hi
Thanks for that, but I still cannot confirm on ...

Could you please read the comments within the "Cairo Fonts" section of
the ?X11 help page, in case that offers some explanation.

Superimposing vector polygons over raster grid in a plot
Hello:
I would like to superimpose vector polygons (state outlines) from a
Shape file on top of a satellite image,
imported into a SpatialGridDataFrame from GEOTIFF via gdal_translate and
readGDAL.
When I plot polygon and point shape files in R, into
SpatialPointDataFrame and SpatialPolygonDataFrame,
the two feature sets line up geographically, so it seems logical that a

Overimposing one map in ssplot onto another
Hello!
I have 2 maps - both created in ssplot and both identical in terms of
outline. Is there any way to superimpose Map1 (which has black borders
between Canadian provinces) onto Map2 (which is also a map of Canada)?
Thanks a lot for your hints!

error bars in lattice xyplot *with groups*
Hi all,
I'm trying to plot error bars in a lattice plot generated with xyplot. Deepayan
Sarkar has provided a very useful solution for simple circumstances
(https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2005-October/081571.html), yet I am
having trouble getting it to work when the "groups" setting is enabled in
xyplot (i.e. multiple lines). To illustrate this, consider the singer data

plotmath degree symbol
In plotmath expressions, R's degree symbol, e.g. shown by
plot(1, main = parse(text = "1*degree*C"))
has sunk to halfway the text line, instead of touching its top. In older
R versions this looked much better.

Connecting lines across missing data points, xyplot
All,
I have data across 5 time points that I am graphing via xyplot, along with
error bars. For one of the variables I have missing data for two of the
time points. The code below is okay but I can't seem to get the lines to
connect across the missing time points. Does anyone now how to rectify
this?
Cheers,

par("uin") ?
I inherited a function written either for an older version of R or SPlus
to draw a brace, "{", in a graph. It uses par("uin") to determine the
scaling of the
quarter circles that make up segments of the brace, but that setting
doesn't
exist in current R.
I'm guessing that, in the function below, ux, uy can be defined from

default value for cutoff in gstat variogram()
I wonder what is the default value for the argument 'cutoff' when not
specified in the variogram.formula function of gstat. Computing
variogram envelops within gstat, I am comparing the results obtained
with variog in geoR and variogram in gstat, and it took me a while
before understanding that the cutoff default value is not the maximum
distance.

cumsum method in Math group
When running
a = runif(10)
class(a) = "foo"
Math.foo = function(x, ...) {
NextMethod(.Generic)
}
signif(a, 3)
cumsum(a)
I don't understand why cumsum strips the class, but signif does not.
Both claim in the documentation that "These are generic functions:
methods can be defined for them individually or via the ?Math? group
generic."
