Matrix Multiplication
R1.7.1/Win2k: Apologies if this posts twice - the first message was not in plain text. I have looked in help.start() and tried typing "crossprod" and "%*%" into the RGui to get an idea for what R is using as internal algorithms for its matrix computations/manipulations... to no avail. Could someone point me in the direction of some documentation? All I get for

R won't connect to the internet
Hi I can't get R to connect to the internet. I am running R 1.7.1 on Windows XP and whenever I try to download packages etc from within R using the internet, it fails. OK so I am behind a firewall and use a proxy server.... SO, if I go to my MS-DOS prompt and type: RGui.exe --internet2 everything works.... BUT i can't set up a shortcut for this as Windows (I hate Windows) complains

Merging and sorting multiple data.frame
Dear R help, I'm pretty new to R and would be grateful for help. I have 11 data.frames, each with 3 columns of data. Each has the same row.names, however these are not sorted. Please tell me the best way to sort these (by row.names) and secondly the best way to extract data columns from these to form a merged table. Thanks a million Aedin

SORTING Arrays by index value
Hello, I'm somewhat new to R. I've searched the archive for the last year and tried to consult the manual pages for the following problem, but did not find an answer. I want to sort an array by the index values. Here is the array >acc.gp.bl.wtmn Gp17 Gp4 1 0.5703125 0.6406250 10 0.7812500 0.7109375 11 0.8046875 0.7343750 12 0.8359375 0.7890625 13 0.8515625 0.7109375

Sorting rows of a binary matrix
Hallo, The command: x <- 3 mat <- as.matrix(expand.grid(rep(list(0:1), x))) generates a matrix with 2^x columns containing the binary representations of the decimals from 0 to (2^x-1), here from 0 to 7. But the rows are not sorted in this order. How can sort the rows the ascending order of the decimals they represent, preferably without a function which converts binaries to decimals

Sorting a data frame with values of different lengths
Hi all, I am attempting to run a script in which I permute my data and run a Wilcoxon rank sum test on the data 1000 times and compare my original test statistic to the permuted test statistics to more accurately estimate a significance level for the trends I am observing. In the process of doing this, I need to sort a data frame that measures 3 x 1001 based on the value of the test statistic

manipulating dataframe according to the values of some columns
hi netters, I'm a newbie to R and there are some very simple problems puzzeled me for two days. I've a dataframe here with several columns different in modes. Two of the columns are special for me: column 1 has the mode "factor" and column 2 has the mode "numeric vectors". The values for column 1 are either "T" or "F". I wanna do two things:

Sorting a data set
I am a novice user of R and am stumbling on how to order a dataset produced during my session. I have a 1863 row X 14 column dataset that I want to put out to a file. I want the output sorted by the first column and then by the second column both in ascending order. The first column is character and the second is numeric (I hope). I used an "as.numeric" function to assign that

clearing some part of a graph
Hi R lovers 2 questions: 1) I'd like to know how to clean the title, the sub title or the labels of a graph. I know how to redefine it with the function title() but it overwrites the previous title and do not replace it 2) How could I clear a whole plot (for example in a multiple figure environment) thanks for your help vincent
