(simple) xml into data.frame and reverse
Hello,
I am trying to convert a simple data.frame (it will always be a few
equally long variables) into the XML format (which I don't understand
too well but need as input for another program) and reverse the
operation (from XML back into data.frame).
I found some code which does the first and it works good enough for me
(see below). Is there an easy way to reverse the operation? My XML

pretty report
Dear Listers:
I have a couple of data frames to report and each corresponds to
different condtions, e.g. conditions=c(10, 15, 20, 25). In this
examples, four data frames need to be exported in a "pretty" report.
I knew Perl has some module for exporting data to Excel and after
googling, I found R does not.
So I am wondering if there is a package in R for generating good
reports. I

sieve filtering, rewriting subjects
Is it possible to modify an emails subject line in a sieve script?
I've seen references to 'addtag' whilst googling, but it appears
dovecots implementation doens't support it - are there any other methods?
As a side note, can anyone suggest a web based script editor that works?
Simply a text area to write the script in would do
Thanks,

Data Exchange with StatDataML for MATLAB
The e1071-group is developping a data exchange package based on XML,
called StatDataML.
Both read and write functionality is available for R/S and
MATLAB/Octave.
Now here is a snapshot from the "StatDataML for MATLAB/Octave"-package.
It should work fine, but the installation procedure needs some
improvement yet.
I think the following will nevertheless make it run:

Request to open up getConnection to embedded interface
Hello all,
I would like to request that getConnection() and the struct Rconn
declarations be added to the R embedded interface. Here's why.
It's common in CGI scripts for web applications to direct stdin, stdout,
and stderr map to reading from the browser, writing to the browser, and
writing to a web log file respectively; very nice and neat. However,
things get a little hairy once

embedded DTD using Builder
Hello -
I would like to include an embedded DTD in generated XML output. I am
attempting to use the Builder::XmlMarkup class to do this. A simplified
example follows:
xml = Builder::XmlMarkup.new(:indent => 2)
xml.declare! :DOCTYPE,:logs do
xml.declare! :ELEMENT,:logs,''(log*)''
end
The problem that I am encountering is the that second declare! call

Bug#599434: xen-utils-4.0: create.dtd is missing
Package: xen-utils-4.0
Version: 4.0.1-1
The Python code in /usr/lib/xen-4.0/lib/python/xen/xm/xenapi_create.py
tries to validate an XML configuration against a missing "create.dtd"
DTD file.
The code expects at SHAREDIR/xen/create.dtd (SHAREDIR is "/usr/share"
according to /usr/lib/xen-4.0/lib/python/xen/util/path.py).
In the Xen source distribution the missing file can be

[StatDataML] compile error
Hi,
sorry if this is OT here. I'm trying to compile StatDataML[1] to
import Matlab data into R. The R part works fine but compiling
the Matlab part exits with this error message (following the
INSTALL instructions: autoconf -> ./configure -> make):

statdataml question
Hi,
I was wondering if Statdataml is currently the preferred way to
represent statistical data in XML in R. And also if the Statdataml api
provides ways to load the XML as a HTTP GET?
If so can you give me an easy example of this. Thanks.
Cheers,

converting Ggobi csv input to xml for line plots in 3d
Hi,
I was wondering if any Ggboi experts have encountered the following.
I have data in csv that I want to plot with lines in ggobi. Unfortunately,
there is some kind of information missing that xml seems to contain. I.e. I
can plot scatterplots with dots using csv input, but not connect with lines.
Any ideas on how to convert to xml, or modify the csv file to get the
information?

Condition to factor (easy to remember)
Dear List,
creating factors in a given non-default orders is notoriously difficult to
explain in a course. Students love the ifelse construct given below most,
but I remember some comment from Martin M?chler (?) that ifelse should be
banned from courses.
Any better idea? Not necessarily short, easy to remember is important.

Re: [Omega-devel] StatDataML Description element

(I'm getting a bit confused about whether this discussion is taking
place on r-devel or omega-devel, and perhaps everyone is on both lists)
I just posted something on R-devel which I hope addresses many of the
points you mentioned, in particular pointing out that I meant encryption
for the purpose of authentication, not for the purpose of making
something secret, and I was using the

Re: [Omega-devel] StatDataML
Hi,
I just had a very quick look at the StatDataML proposal --- nice
work! At the risk of showing my ignorance, I want to mention
my first impressions.
My first impression is that defining datasets in terms of
arrays and list is a bit too high a level. What about
simpler vectors, scalars? (I know that R/S don't have scalars,
but other systems/applications do.) Can we think of a core
