Strange error ...
I''m getting a very strange error in a very vanilla Rails app setup:

Rtools and R 4.0.0?
Hevr? told me that people from Bioconductor and possibly others are
keeping an eye on this thread so it would be good to post a note here
too.
As of version 4.0.0, the official R for Windows and binary packages
provided via CRAN are built with gcc-8.3.0 from rtools40, as shown in
the CRAN check table:

Rtools and R 4.0.0?
Huge thanks to you (Jeroen) and R-core for doing this.
I wasn't involved with this directly but I know it was a pretty seriously
heavy list so well done all around!

Rtools and R 4.0.0?
That's great to see, although I suspect it's still a speculative
change and could be backed out if any non-trivial issues were
encountered.
Regardless, I would like to thank R core, CRAN, and Jeroen for all of
the time that has gone into creating and validating this new
toolchain. This is arduous work at an especially arduous time, so I'd
like to voice my appreciation for all the time

gluster replicate - sync monitoring
Hi,
how do you monitor your gluster replicate ?
I use a rsync -n script, to "check" the diff between my two servers
but is there a better solution to detect split brain or any error ?
Now i'm doing something like that for my 10 "replicate tcp 2 bricks
Volumes".

resize images
Hi,
I am looking for the best solution to resize images to fit within a
certain area. The images will only be made smaller if they will not
fit within a fixed size area. It is important to maintain the same
proportions.
This ImageMagick extension looks promising:

However, I believe it may be overkill for just resizing images
sometimes. I have also seen a

[LLVMdev] Using C++'11 language features in LLVM itself

You're completely ignoring communities that compile code outside
llvm+clang. Any compiler chosen by that group has to be able to
correctly compile hundres if not thousands of source code files.

Can't connect USB Serial (COM3)
Wine does great job for GUI on screen (PC Oscilloscope) But, can't USB connect to external hardware device that has FTDI 245AM chip in it. See device in /dev/ttyUSB0. See device in lsusb, also in lsmod. Did normal linking, ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 /.wine/dosdevices/com3. No luck. See the link with: ls -al of dosdevices. Using COM3 because in Windows registry in Wine, it says COMPORT=3
Any help?

Com1 Setup in Wine (Windows)
Where does wine setup the com ports?? Maybe I can't access the port because
winme has not set it up correctly? I have the symbolic link in dosdevices,
and I am already a member of dialup and uucp ... so that should be right ...
IF wine has the comport setup correct.
Still looking to control my rig through my ONLY com port.

Lattice Histogram Scaling
I am trying to do some comparisons of density estimators using lattice.
The code below attempts to plot the same histogram in each panel and
then overplots a kernel estimate with different bandwidths. Finding
packet.number() was a bit arduous, but seems to do what I want. My
concern now is that close examination of the 4 histograms reveals that
they are different even though they use the same

Unable to build appliance
Hello--
I've been trying to build libguestfs 1.2.14 with the appliance enabled on an
older type of system at my company. Getting all the required dependencies
installed has been an arduous process, but I've finally hit an obstacle I
don't know how to get around. The final output of "make":
