using the netCDF.zip package in Windows (XP).
Dear R-help, I have a question relating to the netCDF package for R in the Windows environment. I have used this package in the Linux version with no problem, and the Windows version of R installed the package without problems. But there are problems when I try to read a netCDF file: Error in .C("open_netcdf", filename, id=as.integer(verbose)): C/Fortran function name not in load

BSOD with ESS under win2000
I have had a visit from our windows buddy the BSOD twice in one day when running R1.6.2 under ESS5.1.24 on a win2000 platform. I wasn't doing anything special, just moving or resizing the emacs window, although I did have 4 or 5 emacs windows open at the time. Has anyone else observed this problem? Thanks, Darryl.

options(chmhelp = TRUE)
Hi all, Here's a curosity I ran into since upgrading to 1.6.2 (precompiled for Windows). When using the chm help I get the following warning. I saw a recent post regarding this as a new warning (``dyn.load warning message in R1.6.2 on Windows XP'' dated 1/28/03), but not in the context of the help system. The warning only appears once and does not prevent the chm file from

bug in read.table (PR#2764)
Hi, there might be a bug in read.delim (also read.table) in R.1.6.2. I included the correct input done in R1.6.1 first, then the wrong input in R1.6.2. The discrepancies are highlighted in red. I have followed the instructions in the Win port faq concerning tck, but when I try 'library(tcltk)', I get Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to load shared library "C:/PROGRA~1/R/RW1062/library/tcltk/libs/tcltk.dll": LoadLibrary failure: One of the library files needed to run this application

file.choose (PR#2465)
R1.6.2 winnt. file.choose() gives an error if the dialog is cancelled without choosing a file. This can be easily dealt with via try(), but I would have thought that a NULL or NA return would be the expected behavior. Cheers, Bert Gunter Biometrics Research RY 84-16 Merck & Company P.O. help with graphics
I'd like to use lattice to make graphics under conditional structure like : if (TRUE) { barchart(....) dev.print(png, file = "image1.png", width = 600) } but there's nothing in the output file. It seems that it's too long to print graphic into the graphical output and the saved file is a blank picture. it works if I do that without the conditionnal structure. it doesn't

Private: Problem with tapply/lapply and sample (PR#3286)
Full_Name: Peter Gedeck Version: R1.6.2 and R1.7.0 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (194.191.169.72) Hello, I marked the bug report Private, as I don't want my email address on the web server. The problem that I found is best explained using an example. index <- 1:6 cluster <- c(1,1,1,2,2,3) tapply(index, cluster, sample) gives $"1" [1] 2 1 3 $"2" [1] 4 5

R 1.6.2 for Windows, Win2k: I have fitted a weighted least squares model using the code "wls.out <- gls(y ~ x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 + x6 - 1, data = foo.frame, weights = varConstPower(form = ~ fitted(.), fixed = list(power = 0.5), const = 1))" The data has 62 rows and the response is zero when the covariates are zero. The purpose of the model was to account for the the fact that

Translating lm.object to SQL, C, etc function
This is my first post to this list so I suppose a quick intro is in order. I've been using SPLUS 2000 and R1.6.2 for just a couple of days, and love S already. I'm reading MASS and also John Fox's book - both have been very useful. My background in stat software was mainly SPSS (which I've never much liked - thanks heavens I've found S!), and Perl is my tool of choice for
