how to generate bar charts with the standard deviation
Hi,
I have the two vectors mean and sd of individual columns, but I am unsure
how to generate bar charts with the standard deviation, even after looking
the help of barplot and barplot.2.

plotCI -- multiple plots on same graph
I have a bunch of lines I want to plot using plotCI()
What Id like to know is, how can I connect the points with a line and how
can I print multiple lines on the same graph?

proportional odds model
Hi all!!
I am using a proportinal odds model to study some ordered categorical
data. I am trying to predict one ordered categorical variable taking
into account only another categorical variable.
I am using polr from the R MASS library. It seems to work ok, but I'm
still getting familiar and I don't know how to assess goodness of fit.
I have this output, when using response ~ independent

Plotting means and confidence intervals by group factor using lattice graphics?
Dear R graphics gurus,
Another question about lattice graphics. This time I would like to plot
means and confidence intervals by group factor in a lattice graph. I can
not find any working lattice examples. Maybe a custom panel function is
the answer, but that is a bit beyond me for now.
The individual plots within the lattice graph could look like this:

Impaired boxplot functionality - mean instead of median
Hello to all users and wizards.
I am regulary using 'boxplot' function or its analogue - 'bwplot' from
the 'lattice' library. But they are, as far as I understand, totally
flawed in functionality: they miss ability to select what they would
draw 'in the middle' - median, mean. What the box means - standard
error, 90% or something else. What the whiskers mean -

confidence-intervals in barchart
Hi R users,
1) How does one show confidence-intervals in a barchart and use rownames for
labels on the y-axes? I have looked at "plotCI" in "gregmisc" package . But
it does not seem to produce something like a barchart. The statistic, error,
upper-bound, and lower-bound are in a dataframe.
2) How to show CI in a barchart either using the statistic and, either (a)

Problems with Package Installation.
I am having difficulty installing packages. For example, here I have tried to
install "gplots" but to no avail. I have tried multiple mirrors and
different packages (errbar) but after installation I seem to be unable to
access any of the commands or help pages. I am a little concerned about the
'lib' missing message but this has been present for previous successful

How to visualize paired t-test results?
I would like to know if you have any suggestions how to visualize the
results from a paired t-test (see the example data below). I tried to
produce plots that show the mean and CI's from the original data and the
estimate of the difference between means and the confidence intervals (see
below) from the t-test. I really don't know what would be the best way to
graphically display the

Barplot and plot means with confidence intervals in the same plot
I want to obtain a barplot with error bars and a mean plot with error bars
with other scale on the left in the same plot. I need help to get the same
x axis (centered) when overlay two plots (barplot2 and plotCI (or
lineplot.CI) with errorbars), with diferent y axis. I use par (new=T) but
the X axis names are not centered with the figures.

scatter plot with 1 standard deviation for each point
Hi,
Could anyone give suggestions how to plot a scatter plot with 1 standard
deviation for each point. To make it clearer, here is a simple example: the
scatterplot is plot(X, Y), but I want to add 1 standard deviation according
to the value of Z for each Y.

Showing limits on line graphs
Is there a function that would allow me to create a line graph of some central tendency, such as mean, with limits indicated by a vertical line at each data point, i.e. SD? It's a fairly common type of graphic, but in looking through examples I have been able to find, I have found no function for such a graph.
Thanks in advance,
Harvey

aov(variable~group*(speed*person)) but How to get 95% confidence intervals ?
Greetings and gratitude,
I have 19 persons in each group, and each person walks at 3 different speeds. I can do a nice p value and f value with summary command
Please help me learn how to report the 95% confidence interval for this anova?
This is easier for my fourth, separate condition: preferred walking speed, where there is no speed factor in the model:

¿Como se hace el gráfico que muestran distintos intervalos de confianza

plot mean + S.E. over time
Hi, there!
I finally became a disciple of 'R', after having lost years of my life
handling data with a popular, rather wide-spread spreadsheet-software.
Now I want to plot the results of many runs of my simulation over time,
so that the means +/- Standard error are on the y-axis, and time on the
x-axis.
I have tried 'boxplot', with timesteps as the grouping variable, but did

boxplot with diamond shape
Hi,
I haven't found in R a possibility to draw a boxplot with a diamond
shape (means and CI).
Does anyone know how to plot it ?
thanks,
