Centos 6 installation memory requirements
Will (does) Centos 6 require 512Mb of memory for the GUI install like FC14 or the lower requirement of FC13? My ASUS EE 700 has ~490Mb of memory (vidoe steals some from the 512Mb base) and FC14 switches to text install and does not install any GUI, leaving the boot in test mode. I recall a message earlier that 6 is based off of 14, but not the final Anaconda, thus my question. It would be

discrepancy between R and Splus lm.influence() functions for family=Gamma(link=identity)
Hello, I am looking for an explanation and/or fix for a discrepancy in the behaviour of the R lm.influence() function [ version R 1.5.0 (2002-04-29) ] and the same function in Splus [ Splus version 5.1 release 1, running on SGI IRIX 6.2]. The discrepancy is of concern because I am migrating some Splus scripts to R and need to ensure consistency of results. Specifically, when I fit a glm()

Selecting row indices from a data.frame by a factor and simple calculation (miniumum)
Hello I wish to extract the row indices from a data.frame in which a column contains numeric data by calculating the minimum value, but grouped on another column factor: An example data.frame: Code absdiff NY14/3070 2 NY14/3070 4 NY14/3070 1 NY14/5459 5 NY14/5459 7 So in this case the factor is Code and the numeric vector is absdiff The

Feedback request: AGI GET DATA change - termination digits
I'd like some feedback on potentially submitting a request (and probably a patch too) to change the way the AGI command GET DATA works. Right now, # terminates the entry, which is then returned with the # stripped off the end. What I'd like is to allow user configurable termination digits, which are not stripped off the end. Reasoning: Some entries you'd like to terminate with #.

figs parameter for split.screen()
Dear all, I would be pleased if anyone could help me. The Rhelp description for the figs parameter is "a two-element vector describing the number of rows and colunns in a screen matrix". So, why does my code (below) produce a 2x1 screen matrix instead of a 1x2 one? Thanks in advance, rodrigo. ----------------------------------------------------------- plot.new()

Why doesn't formatC( x, digits=2, format="g") doesn't always give 2 sig figs?
Hi all I am not a C programmer, but I am trying to understand formatC to get consistent printing of reals to a given number of significant digits. Can someone please explain this to me? These first three give what I expect on reading ?formatC: > formatC(0.0059999, digits=2,format="fg",flag="#") [1] "0.0060" > formatC(0.59999,

R-beta: edit figs with xfig?
Question for R users under unix: Do you ever edit figs created by R using xfig or some other program? I tried to edit a figure with xfig (a program which I find quite horrible by the way) and it said it couldn't read it in. I guess xfig has no capability of reading postscript files? Can anyone tell me how to do it, or perhaps suggest another freeware structured drawing program for use in

How to finalize instruction lowering after register allocation.
Hi, I've some problems/questions while implementing the BUILD_VECTOR primitive for a SIMD microcontroller... This microcontroller has two FPU units: UnitA and UnitB. UnitA has a bank of 512 registers named RegisterA_0 .. RegisterA_511. UnitB has a bank of 512 registers named RegisterB_0 .. RegisterB_511. The FPU instruction format has a 2 bits operand indicating which units are involved:

Possible winbind bugs.
Dear All, I've found a strange behavior on Winbind + getent group If there are AD/winbind group didn't have any unix gid... getent group will only show local group. If all the AD/winbind group have unix gid getent will reply with all the group I have included the AD/winbind group. Did we have any bugs reported on this? Thank You.

how to collect user entered digits
Hello all, I have been searching thru all docs that I can find on wiki and such but can not get an answer. I am trying to collect a date from user input in the form of digits dialed from the phone to use in an agi script to do a database look up. I have tried to use "Get Data filename, timeout, maxdigits " in the agi script. In * console I get message saying playing filename but it

Feedback request: AGI GET DATA change termination digits
Hi, this is my 1.st response to this list, i hope this will work. I tend to agree with Steven since just allowing other termination digits probaly wont solve your upcoming the issues anyway. I use a wrapper around the 'get digit' which allows me to specify that the * digit repeats the menu but maxium 3 times and if the * star digit is used twice in sequence (without other digits inbetween

R-alpha: Re: .Options$digits do not (always) work
While trying to understand official and private explanations of Robert and Martin before writing something useful in the FAQ, I did some more experimenting ... Please have a look at the following. According to Martin, this is also what he observed about 2 weeks ago but did not document exactly enough when posting. Note: the explanation given by Robert was (roughly speaking) that the result of

Can you turn a string into a (working) symbol?
Dear folks-- Suppose I have an expression that evaluates to a string, and that that string, were it not a character vector, would be a symbol. I would like a function, call it doppel(), that will take that expression as an argument and produce something that functions exactly like the symbol would have if I typed it in the place of the function of the expression. It should go as far along the

Asterisk Perl AGI
Hello everybody: This could be a stupid question, or may be not; I'm not sure 'cause I have not a very wide experience working with Asterisk, actually I just started last week. I need to make an IVR system work and I choose working with AGIs, written in Perl. The available documentation I've found show it as a very simple proccess, but it doesn't work for me... and I

[RFC] dynamic checksum size
Currently rsync has a bit of a problem with very large files. Dynamic block sizes were introduced to try handle that automatically if the user didn't specify a block size. Unfortunately that isn't enough and the block size would need to grow faster than the file. Besides, overly large block sizes mean large amounts of data need to be copied even for small changes. The maths indicate

MeetME Conferencing
Can anyone point me to a sample or information on using MeetMe like this? Conference room is set up with 2 PINs, one for the moderator and one for the participants. Participants get music until the moderator joins (to avoid wild, un-moderated tangents). Call is ended and all participants are kicked out when the moderator leaves (or the moderator can kick everyone out via phone keypad).
