Yet another batch mode question
Hello all and thanks in advance,
I know you can start R with either:
1. R CMD BATCH myfile.R
or
2. R < myfile.R
My question is this: what if I want multiple input files and/or command
line arguments. For example, under unix you can run a script command (in
a shell language, perl, or python) like:
python myScript.py
or better yet, if you have things set up right, you can place a

BATCH mode
Dear R users
I wonder if it is possible to run R code in the batch mode like in Splus
(Splus5 scriptfile outputfile).
Any hints?

difference in behavior between batch and source
Hi : I am using R 2.20 on windows XP and I have a REALLY
long read.table statement because the col.names argument
has 440 character strings in it. ( I use python to write R code ).
When I run the read.table statement inside an R program
( the R program only consists of the read.table statement )
using the source command in an interactive R session,
everything works fine. But, if I take the same

BATCH and tcltk
Hi R-hackers
I try to write a batch (in Windows, i have to use!) with
Rcmd BATCH D:\Test.R D:\Test.Rout and
Rterm.exe --no-restore --no-save < D:\Test.R > D:\Test.Rout.
In my file Test.R are any tk-codelines (like: Window1 <- tktoplevel(); ... tkbutton...).
It works not interactifly, what is written in Rcmd BATCH --help.
Exist there a way to do it all the same?
Please help...

Get back to the console with ssh access
Dear R users,
I am currently learning how to work with a new shared computer (a Mac pro) in our lab, that is dedicated to execute R code for large simulations (over a few days).
We have a VNC option to remote control the computer, with a shared used session, but this is not really needed in most of the cases. I would like to do some ssh access.
This is pretty straigthforward, and I am able to

Rterm BATCH versus Splus BATCH
I have written a batch file I thought would run in R (for Windows, 1.5.1),
but as the documentation suggests, R is different in how it handles BATCH
from S-Plus (i.e. not directly equivalent to "Splus BATCH infile outfile
errfile").
If the file consists of a list of valid R commands, what's the best way of
automating it?
Many thanks.

htaccess authentication asks for MySQL table test.user_info
Hello.
I tried to create an access file with 'htpasswd -c
/etc/httpd/conf/myfile.htaccess testuser'.
In the SSL directory I have put a .htaccess file containing the followings:
AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/conf/myfile.htaccess
AuthName "Mydomain"
AuthType Basic
require valid-user
This worked with CentOS 3.
Now with CentOS 4, apache version 2.0.52, the access to the page is

Open an r+b file connection on Windows
I am trying to open an existing binary file, seek to a position in the
middle, and then write one byte, while keeping the already existing data
after that byte. It seems to me that I am unable to open a connection to a
binary file in both read and write mode. I can open the "r+b" binary file
connection and seek around, but I can't write to the file. And looking at

I am using the following code to create ppp files from csv data and map shape files, but I am getting some errors which I have been unable to fix by searching them online:

Renaming Rplots.ps from BATCH scripts.
I often use R CMD BATCH to run my files (e.g. script.R), and get the
output recorded in script.Rout -- this is great. On my setup (R.2.3.0
on linux), if any plots are created, they get stored in Rplots.ps.
This can get confusing if I have several batch scripts in one
directory.
I've written a simple shell script to rename Rplots.ps to
e.g. script.Rout.ps so that later I can easily identify

Reading an upper triangular matrix
Hola!
I have data in the form of a symmetric distance matrix, in the file I
have recorded only the upper triangular part, with diagonal. The
matrix is 21x21, and the file have row and col names, and some other
information. I am trying to read with the following code (I tried
many variations on it, but all give the same error). The items in the
data file is delimited by white space.

HiddenStore option may be useful
I'm missing a HiddenStore option in OpenSSH, known from some ftp-server
implementations like ProFTPd.
Consider the following scenario:
- A process PROCA is frequently polling the directory for a file called
myfile.txt
- Someone transfers this file via sftp or scp to the directory
- While transfer is going on and the file is not completely written,
PROCA reads in the file and removes is

Reloading a shared library with dyn.load
Hi,
I'm using dyn.load to load a shared library (compiled from C
code) into R. If I dyn.unload it and then dyn.load it again, I
get an hourglass icon in Rgui (R 1.7.0, Win 2000), and it
just sits there forever. I can't press Escape to stop the
current computation, but I can close Rgui without resorting to
using the Task Manager.
Is it a problem with my use of R_alloc? Do I need

[LLVMdev] verbosity while invoking clang
I am working on implementing a new target for llvm.
So far (to make debugging easier), I was compiling a C code into 2 steps:
1) generate the llvm file:
clang -ccc-host-triple mytarget -emit-llvm -S myfile.c -o myfile.ll
2) generate the assembly file using
llc -march=mytarget myfile.ll
Sometimes, I add some verbosity for the 2nd command like "-print-after-all".
Now, I'd like to

Problems with Share Modes "fill_share_mode_lock failed"
Hi, my details:
Server: 3.2.3
Client: win2k8
When I try list contents of a shared directory through an ASP script

times (4 times for each file) the same error: "fill_share_mode_lock

I tried "shares mode = No" but no success

Problem reading from a file
Hi all,
I have written a function
cluster_compare(myfile, mclfile)
I called it giving names of files in the working directory (I see them with
dir()). I get

In addition: Warning message:
In file("myfile", "r") :
