survreg vs. aftreg (eha) - the relationship between fitted coefficients?
Dear R-users,
I need to use the aftreg function in package 'eha' to estimate failure times for left truncated survival data. Apparently, survreg still cannot fit such models. Both functions should be fitting the accelerated failure time (Weibull) model. However, as G?ran Brostr?m points out in the help file for aftreg, the parameterisation is different giving rise to different

ID parameter in model
Hello,
I am apparently confused about the use of an id parameter for an event
history/survival model, and why the EHA documentation for aftreg does
not specify one. All assistance and insights are appreciated.
Attempting to specifiy an id variable with the documentation example
generates an "overlapping intervals" error, so I sorted the original
mort dataframe and set subsequent entry

Pseudo R^2 for logit - really naive question
I am using GLM to calculate logit models based on cross-sectional data. I
am now down to the hard work of making the results intelligible to very
average readers. Is there any way to calculate a psuedo analoque to the R^2
in standard linear regression for use as a purely descriptive statistic of
goodness of fit? Most of the readers of my report will be vaguely familiar
and more comfortable with

p values in coxph()
Hi,
I'm interested in building a Cox PH model for survival modeling, using 2
covariates (x1 and x2). x1 represents a 'baseline' covariate, whereas x2
represents a 'new' covariate, and my goal is to figure out where x2 adds
significant predictive information over x1.
Ideally, I could get a p-value for doing this. Originally, I thought of
doing some kind of likelihood ratio

about systemfit
Hello. I am still a newbie in R. Excuse me if I am asking something obvious. My efforts to get an answer through browsing the mailing archives failed. I want to perform an augmented Dickey-Fuller test and to obtain AIC and BIC and to be able to impose some linear restrictions on the ADF regression so as to decide the correct order of autoregression. However I could find no obvious way to impose

Stepwise logistic Regression with significance testing - stepAIC
Hello R-Users,
I have one binary dependent variable and a set of independent variables (glm(formula,…,family=”binomial”) ) and I am using the function stepAIC (“MASS”) for choosing an optimal model. However I am not sure if stepAIC considers significance properties like Likelihood ratio test and Wald test (see example below).
> y <- rbinom(30,1,0.4)
> x1 <- rnorm(30)
> x2

Extract p-value from aftreg object
Dear all,
does anyone know how I can extract specific p-values for covariates
from an aftreg object? After fitting a model with aftreg I can find
all different variables by using str(), but there's no place where
p-values are kept. The odd thing is that print() displays them
correctly.
EXAMPLE:
> testdata
start stop censor groupvar var1 var2
1 0 1 0

maximum likelihood problem
I am trying to figure out how to run maximum likelihood in R. Here is my
situation:
I have the following equation:
equation<-(1/LR-(exp(-k*T)*LM)*(1-exp(-k)))
LR, T, and LM are vectors of data. I want to R to change the value of k
to maximize the value of equation.
My attempts at optim and optimize have been unsuccessful. Are these the
recommended functions that I should use to maximize

Cox regression and p-values
Hello,
I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but I want to make sure I
have a full understanding of this. What I would like to know is what
tests are performed to give the p-values for each variable in the table
that is the result of coxph regression when the variables are
categorical only.
More specifically, when expected counts are less than 5 is the Fisher's
exact test used instead

Getting AIC from lrm in Design package
I am trying to obtain the AICc after performing logistic regression
using the Design package. For simplicity, I'll talk about the AIC. I
tried building a model with lrm, and then calculating the AIC as
follows:
likelihood.ratio <-
unname(lrm(succeeded~var1+var2,data=scenario,x=T,y=T)$stats["Model
L.R."]) #Model likelihood ratio???
model.params <- 2 #Num params in my model
AIC

[Fwd: RE: maximum likelihood problem]
I forgot to add that I first gave a starting value for K.
Nonlinear least squares won't work because my errors are not normally
distributed.
Any advide on my maximum likelihood function would be greatly appreciated.

coxme frailty model standard errors?
Hello,
I am running R 2.6.1 on windows xp
I am trying to fit a cox proportional hazard model with a shared
Gaussian frailty term using coxme
My model is specified as:
nofit1<-coxme(Surv(Age,cen1new)~ Sex+bo2+bo3,random=~1|isl,data=mydat)
With x1-x3 being dummy variables, and isl being the community level
variable with 4 levels.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the standard error

Likelihood ratio test between glm and glmer fits
Dear list,
I am fitting a logistic multi-level regression model and need to test the difference between the ordinary logistic regression from a glm() fit and the mixed effects fit from glmer(), basically I want to do a likelihood ratio test between the two fits.
The data are like this:
My outcome is a (1,0) for health status, I have several (1,0) dummy variables RURAL, SMOKE, DRINK, EMPLOYED,
