write a loop for tallies
Dear R users,
I have a list of numbers such as
> n
[1] 3000 4000 5000 3000 5000 6000 4000 5000 7000 5000 6000 7000
and i'd like to set up a loop that will keep track of the number of
occurences of each of the values that occur in the list, e.g.
3000: 2
4000: 2
5000: 4
I came up with the following:
a<- for (i in 1:length(n)) {
r<-0
s<-0
t<-0
u<-0
v<-0

mem.tally.* in R
I'd like to use the resources() function described on p. 151-152 of S
Programming by Venables and Ripley (2000), but I don't have access
to S and don't know whether R's memory functions (e.g., gc()) can be used
instead of mem.tally.reset() and mem.tally.report(). In order to
implement the resources() function in R, should I look for the
C source for these S functions and wrap them

squirrelmail and pam tally and invalid imap logon attempts
Greetings,
In trying to use pam tally to secure pam-aware services from brute
force attempts, it worked well for all but one aspect. It seems like
a client using our Squirrelmail setup creates an invalid imap login
attempt every time they refresh a webpage.
Has anyone else experienced this or have a clue why SM does this?

Anyone have a method of keeping an incremental tally of calls?
Hi All,
I thought I read a post a while back of a system call or something in
the dialplan whereby a call count can be incremented and spit out to a
text file.
Not like a group count of active channels.
What I would like to accomplish is have an incremental count of a
specific dialplan routine that gets called, so after a week or month,
I can see how many times a specific dilaplan action has

Means do not tally
Hi all,
here is my situation
In my experiment, I expose 10 subjects to 24 different conditions of
stimuli. Each condition is exposed to the same subject 3x.
This would make each subject have 24x3=72 data points. All the subjects
combined would have 72x10=720 data points with each condition having 30
datapoints.
To find the grand average of each condition, I find the average of all the

How to transfer variable names to column names?
Hello R users,
I have a set of data frames for which I am tallying row numbers, as shown below.
> nrow(mC_Explant)
[1] 14480
> nrow(mC_Callus)
[1] 23320
> nrow(mC_RegenPlant)
[1] 8108
etc.
I want to create a new data frame which has the variable names as column headings, and then a single row with the nrow tallies. My first step was this:
dfIntron <- c(nrow(mC_Explant),

Printing in Wine
Hello,
I am using Wine to run Tally, an accounting package. Over the
network, we are able to print documents using OpenOffice as we
have CUPS installed. I read the DOCS related to printing in Wine
and they say, I dont need to configure wine if I have CUPS
installed. But whenever I issue the print command in tally,
nothing happens. I checked out /var/log/messages but didn't find

Problem with bandwidth
Hi all,
Here is my setup: Host1 ---> Router ----> Host2
When i run ttcp -t on Host1 while ttcp -r in Host2, the bandwidth that i
can get is about 860 Kbytes/s, which is less than 7Mbps. But i am using NIC
10Mbps for all machines. Why is that so?
Currently, i am experimenting with the example efcbq. I am using MGEN (a
UDP traffic generator) to send 2 flows of traffic (EF and

SAMBA Problem - Users take ownership
Hi,
I have a problem with my Samba/WinBIND implementation. In folders shared by multiple people the last one to access and modify a file takes ownership of the file and changes the permissions so other users cannot make changes to the same file:

sql server & linux: left join problem
I''ve got a left join problem of some sort connecting from linux
