Help with ldBands(Hmisc)
Hello My Fellow Users, Under the details it is given that the ld98 executable should be in a subdirectory that is in the system. Should ld98.exe be included under Hmisc (where it is stored) or under the lib subdirectory within Hmisc? I am getting the following error message: Error in (head + 1):length(w) : NA/NaN argument. Does this mean that I didn't store the ld98.exe in the right place

ldBands (Hmisc)
All, I'm getting the same error message as that discussed in a previous post (Feb 3, 2006). The reply to that post was to insure that the ld98 program was in the system path (as also suggested in the help on ldBands). I have done this but this does not change the result. Any advice much appreciated. David > sessionInfo() R version 2.7.2 (2008-08-25) i386-pc-mingw32 locale:

group sequential and adaptive designs
Hello R users, I am looking for R (or S) code related to group sequential or adaptive designs for clinical trials. (The most prominent examples are the designs of Pocock or O'Brien/Fleming, the alpha-spending function approach, or Fisher's combination test and the inverse normal method.) I am particularly interested in the calculation of the critical boundaries, the handling of spending

panel.axis() & grid/lattice settings
Hello, I wish to customize the tick marks and labels of axes in panels produced by high-level lattice functions, namely xyplot. I know I can use the scales argument to specify values for rot, cex, etc. in the top-level call. However, I am interested in determining values for cex and rot based on the current panel / viewport and device. More specifically, I would like to make adjustments when

Linux Standalone Server Suggestions for R
Hi All, My group is looking for any suggestions on what to purchase to achieve the most powerful number crunching system that $50k can buy. The main application that will be used is R so input on what hardware benefits R most will be appreciated. The requirements are that it be a single standalone server (i.e. not a cluster solution), and it that must be able to run unix/linux. If

Interpreting the example given by Prof Frank Harrell in {Design} validate.cph
Dear R-help, I am having a problem with the interpretation of result from validate.cph in the Design package. My purpose is to fit a cox model and validate the Somer's Dxy. I used the hypothetical data given in the help manual with modification to the cox model fit. My research problem is very similar to this example. This is the model without stratification: > library(Design) > f1

Thanks! (was panel.axis() & grid/lattice settings)
Deepayan, Paul: Thanks very much for the very useful leads. I just spent some time this afternoon implementing your suggestions and my early test results are very encouraging. Paul, I understand the potential device re-sizing issue with the convert family of functions in grid, and will be in touch in case it becomes problematic for my applications. I very much look forward to your upcoming
