General "moving" functions
General "moving" function.
I'm a relatively new comer to R, and I've only just started writing my own R
functions. However, I need some help for something which I'm sure is quite
straight forward.
I want to write a function that will allow me to calculate "moving results"
for a given vector. Ideally, the function will be of the form
foo<-function(vector1,

AW: R function help arranged in categorical order ?
There is a very nice Search Engine, with Keywords arranged by topic, that
comes with R.
If you are under Windows (and have Html help installed), you can find this
in the Help menu, under "Html help".
(The relevant file can also be found as
...\doc\html\search\SearchEngine.html.)
Maybe this helps,
Heinrich.

R function help arranged in categorical order ?
Hi,
I'm new to R and I'm finding it quite a chore trawling through the R
documentation to find a function to carry out simple atomic tasks. Is any
one aware of R help documentation that is aranged in functional categories
for e.g.:
String manipulation
File I/O
Dataframe, List manipulation
etc, etc ...
Thanks

write file to date-stamped folder
Hello,
I would like to be able to write all files produced on one day to an output
directory with that date stamp, or alternatively stamp the date in the
filename. So that if i run the same code the next day the files will not be
overwritten.
here's what i have to start with:
baseDir = getwd()
outputDir = paste(baseDir,"/OutputData-", Sys.Date(),sep="")
and lets say i

Can samba do this?
Hi all,
I don't currently run samba and I'm a bit of a novice at networking. Anyway
here is the problem.
My office/company has a fair sized windows network - 500 or so machines. For
some of my applications linux is far more useful so I want to build a
sub-network of 3-6 linux machines and connect to the windows network. The
only essential function would be file tranfer in both

Request: Time Stamped Dump-Files
Hi,
I urgently need a feature to save the dump-files in splitted timestamped
chunks or - much better - named accordingly to the stream metadata.
I don?t want to use utilities like streamripper to make dumps because
they act as a client and thus the "relay on-demand" feature of icecast
isn't usable anymore. I only want to have a copy of the stream when
somebody is actually

AFT-model with time-varying covariates and left-truncation
Dear Prof. Brostr?m,
Dear R-mailinglist,
first of all thanks a lot for your great effort to incorporate
time-varying covariates into aftreg. It works like a charm so far
and I'll update you with detailled benchmarks as soon as I have them.
I have one more questions regarding Accelerated Failure Time models
(with aftreg):
You mention that left truncation in combination with time-varying

question about codebook
Hi, all
I am studying the ogg-vorbis algorithm but I have less knowledge about the
codebook structure of vorbis. After tracing the release source code, I
found it doesn't use huffman tree to decode the huffman code instead of
using a special mapping and pre-look. The memory requirement seems similar
with huffman tree decoding. Could anyone tell me how the vorbis huffman
decoding works

exploratory analysis of large categorical datasets
Dear List,
I am looking to perform exploratory analyses of two (relatively) large
datasets of categorical data. The first one is a binary 80x100 matrix, in
the form:
matrix(sample(c(0,1),25,replace=TRUE), nrow = 5, ncol=5, dimnames = list(c(
"group1", "group2","group3", "group4","group5"), c("V.1", "V.2", "V.3",

I have a suggestion about the projects in idea section. Projects
<http://llvm.org/OpenProjects.html#gsoc18> are listed as GSoC 2018 followed
by GSoC 2017, I hope that some projects in the GSoC 2017 section are
already taken by previous year gsoc students, could you please remove those
projects from the list and include the remaining projects in GSoC 2018.
