No Magic for HABTM forms?
Hi, I posted yesterday asking how to get form tags to reference the associated objects in a habtm relationship. I was hoping for Rails Magic, but it looks like Rails doesn''t have habtm magic beyond a certain point. Here was my solution for others who might have the problem. Also, I hope someone shows me that there is a simpler way. The Database Model: class Registration <

Check_box woes
I have a User model and an Address model. A user has_many addresses, and an address belongs_to a user. An address object for a user could be a billing, shipping or marketing address. The way I''m tracking this is via the user attributes: billing_adress_id, marketing_address_id and shipping_address_id in the user table, which holds the relevant address id. But in my form that allows a

ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper instance methods should take an object reference rather than an object_name.
Hi ActionView::Helpers::FormHelper methods (e.g. #text_field, #check_box...) take object_name as an argument. From this argument they infer a name that is supposed to contains the reference to the relevant object. I can''t see why the FormHelper methods were designed that way. Compared to simply passing them a reference, the current way seems too complicated and an invitation to problems

check_box form helper questions/issues
I''m using Rails 1.1.x and it looks like the check_box form helper expects me to provide and object and method so it can determine if the checkbox should be checked or not. I''m having a couple of issues with this. note: I''m using UserEngine and adding a HABTM so that: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :foos end class foo <

form_for not working with Markaby
I''m playing around with Markaby and I decided to write a little blog app. I''m running into issues with forms however. If I use form_for the output of the form gets swallowed. For example: form_for :article, @article do |f| f.text_field :title f.check_box :published f.text_area :description f.text_field :pub_date f.text_area :content end gets rendered as an empty form

Problems with multiple ActiveRecords and Validations
Hi all, I am a RoR newbie and have the following scenario set up: There are 2 ActiveRecords involved, the first one being "User", the second one being "Visibility". The corresponding users table holds address informations regarding a User. The visibilities table holds visibility settings for the individual columns of the users table (i.e. firstname, lastname, country
