special recursive filter
Hi, I have a question about a special recursive filter problem. What I have: - given variables: x: time series with rather randomly occuring '0' and '1' wait: non negative integer - a working but ineffectiv implementation (see below) How the implementation works (what I want): The filter should drill holes of distance 'wait' between the '1' in x, e.g. x =

Trouble in running Rcmd --check on Windows 2000.
Hi! My Platform: Windows 2000 R version >1.5 Active Perl 5.6 Rtools at the start of the PATH. I am trying to build a package. The functions are written only in R (no C code). I am trying to proceed as described in R-exts.pdf But instead to get a build package i am getting (see below). At first glance it seems to me that i understand the output. At something similar i am looking most of my

indexing in a function doesn't work?
Hello, I've written a small function that's supposed to save me some time, and it's ending up killing it- the intention is to iteratively subset a dataset fram on framevec, fit a model (either lm or nls depending on type) and return the r2 or AIC from the model, respectively. Although as far as I can tell in my code the plots are dependent on the fit of the model to the data and the

dopar parallel assignments
Hi guys, I was wondering why this piece of code doesn't work: foreach (i = c(1.25,1.50)) %dopar% { assign(paste("test_",i,sep=""),i) } but, this does: foreach (i = c(1.25,1.50)) %do% { assign(paste("test_",i,sep=""),i) } Obviously, the difference is %dopar% vs. %do%. If I use %do%, I get objects test_1.25 and test_1.50, but I don't get these

averaging two matrices whilst ignoring missing values
Hi folks, I'm trying to do something that seems like it should easy, but it apparently isn't. I have two large matrices, both containing a number of missing values at different cells. I would like to average these matrices, but the NAs are preventing me. I get a "non-numeric argument to binary operator" error. That's the first problem.

customising installed libraries
hello I am returning to some libraries that I had previously customised by amongst other things adding additional functions. I had simply typed these new functions into the file in library/R/thelibrary. These however do not seem to be loaded now as they previously were under older versions of R. What's changed and what do i need to do? Thanks Stephen

Questions on package creation
I have some questions about 1. nomenclature, 2. recommended file locations and 3. overall procedure related to creating packages. To the extent that it matters, examples here relate to Windows XP R 2.0.1 beta. The questions are interspersed and prefaced with ***. My understanding is that there are actually 6 forms of a package that one should use in package development: 1.

Building own packages on Windows 2000!
Hi! I encountered some things trying to build own packages under Windows 2000 for which i found no answer in the documentation. First. 1. I do not found the rcmd.exe in the bin directory of R_HOME. I installed R using the setup.exe 2. I updated the R intatllation with one of the zip files. (rw1041sp.zip) now i had the rcmd.exe in the bin. 3. I do not found any hint in the docu that perl is

method names conflict.
Hi! I would like to give my objects functions like "subset", "union", et cetera and name it also in this way. But this functions names are already used in the base package and they are not generic. I am right in that if they would be generic then i still can use the neat names with my objects? I have the impression that there are more and more packages are going to be

Reading tables using a truncated name
Dear all, I am trying to read a bunch of csv files using read.table() that are named "test_xxxxxx.csv" where "xxxxxx" has no particular pattern. Is there a way of reading all the files by specifying a truncated file name e.g. "test_" with some wild card characters, or would I have to laboriously create some vector with the "xxxxxx" names and iterate or

scatterplot of 100000 points and pdf file format
Hi, I want to draw a scatter plot with 1M and more points and save it as pdf. This makes the pdf file large. So i tried to save the file first as png and than convert it to pdf. This looks OK if printed but if viewed e.g. with acrobat as document figure the quality is bad. Anyone knows a way to reduce the size but keep the quality? /E -- Dipl. bio-chem. Is there a way to represent the ... argument in signature?

I would like to define a function rbind. > rbind function (..., deparse.level = 1) { which works only for objects of class Myclass Is it possible to use something like setMethod("rbind",signature(...="Myclass",deparse.level="numeric") This gives an error. Or should I use rbind.Myclass Eryk. Dipl. bio-chem.
