accessing dimension names
I have a matrix y: > dimnames(y) $x93 [1] "1" "2" $x94 [1] "0" "1" "2" .................. so on (there are other dimensions as well) I need to access a particular dimension, but a random mechanism tells me which dimension it would. So, sometimes I might need to access dimnames(y)$x93, some other time it would be dimnames(y)$x94.. and so

Reading JPEG file, converting to HEX
Colleagues, I am using R to assemble RTF documents (which are plain text). I need to embed a JPEG graphic that was created with R. I presume that the steps need to be: a. read the file into R b. convert the object to HEX format c. write the converted object to a textfile. If I read the file into R using readLines, I get the following (only the first 5 lines shown): > >

truncation/rounding bug with write.csv
To my surprise, I can confirm on Windows 10 using R 3.4.3 . As tail is not recognized by Windows cmd, I replaced with: system('powershell -nologo "& "Get-Content -Path temp.csv -Tail 1') The last line shows only 7 digits after the decimal, whereas the first have 15 digits after the decimal. I agree with Dirk though, 1.6Gb csv files are not the best way to work with

I don't see the issue here. It would be helpful if people would report their sessionInfo() when reporting whether or not they see this issue. foreach loop, stata equivalent
Hi! I'm a recent convert from Stata, so forgive my ignorance. In Stata, I can write foreach loops (example below) foreach var of varlist p1-p14 { foreach y of varlist p15-p269 { reg `var' `y' } } It's looping p1-p15, p1-p16...., p1-p269, p2-p15, p2-p16,... p2-p269,... variable pairs. How can I write something similar in R? I 'tried' understanding the

change the height or scale of the y axis
Hallo, All, I have a question about changing the height or scale of the y axis. When I use following two R codes, I can get two plots. Please look at the y axes, the number of indices (x1, x2, ?) on the y axis in the first plot is smaller than that in the second plot, and hence the space between any two indices in the first plot is wider than that in the second plot. As the number of indices

linear programming in R | limits to what it can do, or my mistake?
Question for 'experts' in LP using R (using the lpSolve package, say) -- which does not apply to me for the sort of problem I describe below. I've run any number of LP's using lpSolve in R, but all of them to date have objective and constraint functions that both contain the same variables. This lets you set up a LHS and RHS matrix/vector that are symmetrical. But, for a

Query about creating time sequences
Hi All, I have a query about time based sequences. I know such questions have been asked a lot on forums, but I couldnt find the exact thing that I was looking for. I want to create a time-based sequence which will mimic the trading window AND would span multiple days. Something like below: "2011-01-03 09:15:00 IST" "2011-01-03 09:15:01 IST" .... .... .... linear programming in R | limits to what it can do, or my mistake?
Apart from the fact that the statement "such that t1+t2+t3+t4=2970 (as it must)" is not correct, the LP can be implemented as follows: library(lpSolve) LHS <- rbind( c(0,0,0,0, 1, 0, 0,0), c(1,0,0,0,-1, 1, 0,0), c(0,1,0,0, 0,-1, 1,0), c(0,0,1,0, 0, 0,-1,1), cbind(-diag(4),diag(4)), c(0,0,0,0,0,1,0,0), c(0,0,0,0,0,0,1,0), c(0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1) ) RHS <-

truncation/rounding bug with write.csv
Hello, I have looked on https://www.r-project.org/bugs.html , but it seems that this is the only way to do it. The issue is that the precision used by write.csv is on consistant for big files. See the following code: First I create a large dataframe filled with random uniform values. Then I write it to .csv and print out the first and last lines. df = data.frame(replicate(100, runif(1000000,

Problems with replication in the Samba 4
Hi, I noticed that my Samba 4 DC isn't OK, because the are differences between the data storaged int he Schema on my Windows Server 2008 (isn't R2) DC and Samba 4 DC. This way, I performed several tests on my servers as shown below. Follow the results of command repadmin in the Windows Server 2008: C:\Windows\system32>repadmin /showreps /verbose Default-First-Site-Name\WIN-DC1

truncation/rounding bug with write.csv
My apologies for not including sessionInfo(), and I'm a bit angry at myself for that. Retrying in a fresh session of R, I get different results. More specifically, I get the expected result where accuracy is the same in the first and the last line. As I didn't include my sessionInfo() in my previous mail, I can't figure out why I now have a different result. So I'm positive
