Fedora 10, R and yes...help.start()...deja vu all over again...
Hi all,
I installed F10 Final today. This was a clean install, not an upgrade
from F9.
Kudos the the Fedora team as the level of maturity noted in the install
process, including using encrypted partitions, keeps getting better with
each release. I'd still like to see easier options in the GUI with
respect to selecting entire groups of applications, rather than having

Bug#123084: r-base: R documentatio search engine unusable with Mozilla 6 (OK with netscape 4.7x) (PR#1202)
As there is nothing Debian-specific in this bug report (and the .deb of the
JVW is not from Debian either), I am forwarding this to R-bugs. My
recollection from recent discussions on the R mailing list is that currently
/no/ browser other than Netscape supports the Java search engine -- is that
correct or was there some Netscape derivative (galeon?) which does?
Maybe the documentation should be

Currently no Java for Linux-Mozilla on 4-Stable?
Hey folks,
I was trying to install a jvm for the linux-mozilla port on 4-stable.
4-stable of yesterday (updated) and all ports of yesterday except as
indicated.
I am through all of them, blackdown-1.3, blackdown-1.4.2, checked out
the previous blackdown-1.4.1, Sun-1.3.1 and Sun-1.4.2.
Most of them have incompatible C++ interfaces to the current
linux-mozilla, except blackdown-1.4.2, which

I use OpenNMS and this is how I install it. So far it's worked every time
(6 installs). Make sure you open up your IPTables as needed. Let me know
how it goes.

cross compiling (arm)
Hi.
I'm trying to cross compile dovecot.
My desktop machine is an AMD64 box with bells and whistles. The ARM
based machine is a network attached storage box. When I run "make"
always get x86_64 binaries.
My OS is Gentoo, so I have been able to build using emerge a variety of
other programs from source. What am I doing wrong here. (Gentoo
doesn't have Dovecot for the arm)

Can't get JRE to install so that FireFox sees it
Hot on the heels of the success of getting sound to work with FireFox, I
am on to getting Java applets to run.
When I go to a page with a Java applet, I get the little Rubik's cube-
like icon that says I can click to download. So I do, but FireFox says
it can't find it, so I have to install manually.
I click on Manual install and I'm taken to a page that allows me to

SJava still hates GUIs on Linux, both Blackdown and IBM... Can anyone verify IBM or Sun?
I've been having fun with crashes recently, both with Blackdown JDK
and the IBM JDK, while building up the ROrca interface. It's just not
stable for me, and my lack of grokking the intimate details of lazy
evaluation is not helping.
Brushing works, though, which is nice. I need a bit more stability
before I get the "data add/change" features in line, though.
Anyway, other

Logging patch
Hi,
I''ve attached a patch which fixes a logging problem with
log_rule_limit in custom actions. E.g. this action:

| log_rule_limit $LEVEL ${CHAIN}Add WhitelistAdd DROP "$LOG_LIMIT" $TAG
| run_iptables -A ${CHAIN}Add -j DROP
| run_iptables -N ${CHAIN}Del

java applet on CentOS-3
Hey,
Has anyone installed a java applet on a CentOS-3?
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/ASP/contribs/9/i386/j2re-java-plugin-1.4.2_02-1asp.i386.html
I need a java applet for some functionality accessing
my SmoothWall firewall from a workstation on the
internal network.
Has anyone set YUM up to watch for updates?
Thanks,
Rick
