Reverse legend label order in barplot
Hi list, I've thus far not found a solution to my problem and hope someone can help. I have a data matrix and wish to plot a stacked bar plot using barplot(). This is simple enough, but I have a problem with the legend labels being in the reverse order from what I want. The default appears to have labels ascending bottom-to-top reflecting bottom-to-top sub-bars, but I would like the

Another plot question
Here is another, perhaps trivial, plotting question. I am making a filled contour plot and have almost everything dialed in the way I want it. The last hurdle (that I can foresee) is adjusting the look of the key. I'm plotting the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 95% quantiles and I want the key to be evenly spaced, e.g., the width of the 25% and the 95% should look the same on the key. They are labeled

barplot fill patterns
Dear R-helpers, I will like to know if there is a way to generate a stacked column graph using both patterns and colors to fill the bars. I have many categories for the number of color available in R, so I will like R to start with solid colors and then use patterns an colors. I have been using barplot and some code that I found in the archives, but I am still having bars with the

adding contour lines to a filled.contour
Hi all, Does anybody know how to add contour lines to a filled contour plot? I want to draw a single contour around values that are above a certain level (e.g., significant). The problem I'm having is that since the filled.contour command actually draws two plots (data and the key), adding contour lines paints them over both plots. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy #~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

filled.contour - plot.axes
Hi all, Sorry for what might be a trivial issue. However, I am completely flummoxed! I'm making a filled contour plot for a publication. It's a continuous wavelet transform should anybody care. The problem I'm having is correctly demarking the ticks on the y axis. I have a matrix that has 100 columns. Every 10th column represents a power of 2. So: col[10] <- 2 col[20] <- 4

how do I draw such a barplot?
Hi, I cannot figure out how to draw a certain plot: could someone help me out? I have this data.frame from a survey my.data that looks like something like this: col1 col2 col3 col4 1 5 5 4 5 2 3 5 3 1 3 2 3 4 5 4 3 1 1 2 5 5 5 4 5 6 4 2 5 5 .... Each row represents a single questionnaire

barplot and ylim - display problems
The following single line of code shows what I am trying to do, and the problem I am having... barplot(c(101,102,103),ylim=c(100,103)) The 'xaxis' is missing, and the grey bars 'fall off' the plot area. This is generally ugly, and I would like to trim the bars (ideally they would have a ragged appearance to show that I am 'zooming in'). I can see why what I am trying to

draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
I recommend instead of no border, that you use a border with the same color as the fill. I do this in the likert functions in the HH package. draw borders of bars inside of the rectangles in a barplot
Dear R-users, I want to draw a barplot with beside=TRUE. One halve of the bars are drawn with a border, while the other halve are drawn without a border (i.e. filled bars vs. non-filled bars next to each other). Because borders are drawn around the bars, doing this leads to one halve of the bars being wider than the other halve, expanding across the 0-point of the y-axis. This problem emerges

Changing border width in barplot ?
Is it possible? I was hoping to find something like: lwd for the different bars in the barplot but couldn't find it. Does it exist ? barplot - change width of bar outline
Dear R users I am modifying a column chart which I have created in R using barplot to make it clearer. I have been able to change the settings to increase the width of the axes lines and the text size but I cannot find the code to change the width of the lines which create the bars/columns themselves. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks Claire -- View this message in

Error when using foreach package for parralelization
Hi, i tried to find the answer but didn't so my apologies if the question is obvious ! I'm trying to parallelize the following R code : pk2test = c(1:16,(12*16+1):(12*16+16),(16*16+1):(16*16+16),(20*16+1):(20*16+16)) score.mat = matrix(nc=16*4,nr=16*4) for(i in 1:(16*4)) { for(j in i:(16*4)) { score.mat[i,j] = score.mat[j,i] =

Drawing a rectangle around a barplot()
Hi I want to draw a rectangle behind a barplot such that it highlights those particular bars from the rest of the plot. I have figured out how to draw a barplot(), and then how to draw a rectangle of the correct shape and size (using rect()), but when I use rect() it draws over the top of the bars, and then when I re-draw the bars, it draws with a white background, thus eliminating my rectangle!

Matrix barplot
Hi, as a bloody R beginner I failed to solve the probably simple problem to create a barplot of the following data read from a file Year A B C 2000 4 3 0 2001 2 1 3 2002 1 2 5 The Barplot should look like 5 | C 4 | A C 3 | AB C C 2 | AB A C BC 1 |

Legend with fill = gray ?
Hi, I am facing a problem with the legend, I don?t know how to use the fill option in the legend in order to achieve the same standard gray levels that are plotted. Sorry for this easy one, but I really did not find anything so far. It works fine with color: ###### C O L O R mat <- matrix(2,3,rep(2,6)) rownames(mat)<-c("A","B","C") par(xpd=T,

Simple Gantt like chart for numbers rather dates
I would like to produce a chart that looks like a Gantt chart (or shingle plot), but instead of tasks you have variable names and instead of start and finish dates you have an upper and lower numeric value. If that makes sense, is there an obvious way of doing this. Thanks, Graham
