Hello, I am closely following the RTAQ documentation in order to load my dataset into R, however I get this warning when running the convert function in the following way: convert(from="2010-11-01", to="2010-11-01",datasource=datasource, datadestination=datadestination, trades=T,quotes=T,ticker="BAC",dir=T, extention="csv", header=T,

Dot plot - equivalent of MINITAB
hi folks, Bit of a newbie, but I've spent a fair bit of time looking for an answer on this, with no joy. Can anyone help me? Dataset: A single column of values in a csv file (eg. 52, 53, 54, 85, etc) Goal: In Minitab, you have what they call a dot plot. It's a histogram, where a single dot represents a set of identical values (eg. 57, 57, 57 would be one dot). Multiple dots are

Changing graphics height when using grid and lattice
Hi, I have recently been playing with the grid package in an attempt to create some pages containing multiple lattice plots on the same page. However, when I specify a grid layout with different widths, such as: pushViewport(viewport(layout = grid.layout(1, 2, unit(c(2, 1), "null")))) the individual graphs do not end up as the same height - which is a feature I would prefer to have.

I have --progress and it says 1 file to consider rsync -Cav --ignore--existing --progess test.bac /backup First time above command works second time it hangs!!! 2. If I do control c on Cygwin I still see rsync process running. Probably, this is not question for this

GLMM (lme4) vs. glmmPQL output (summary with lme4 revised)
This is a summary and extension of the thread "GLMM (lme4) vs. glmmPQL output" http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/help/04/01/0180.html In the new revision (#Version: 0.4-7) of lme4 the standard errors are close to those of the 4 other methods. Thanks to Douglas Bates, Saikat DebRoy for the revision, and to G?ran Brostr?m who run a simulation. In response to my first posting, Prof.

frequency table-visualization for complex categorical variables
Dear R users, I have three questions measuring close relationships. The questions are same and the respondents put the answer in order. I'd like to examine the pattern of answers and visualize it. For example q1 (A,B,C,D,E) and q2 and q3 are the same. If the respondents selects A B C (so BCA or BAC or CBA or CAB), I'd like to construct frequency table for ABC and other combinations for

Need to study and learn about better plots
Hi, So far my plotting needs have been sort of ignored as I got acquainted with R this week, but now that I have the basics in place for the program I wanted to write it's time for me to start learning about how to make output that better suits my needs. I think I have two sort of charts I need to concentrate on learning how to produce: 1) Probably a trivial request - a single chart that

read.table bug in Mac OS X (PR#2469)
Full_Name: George W. Gilchrist Version: 1.6.2 OS: OS X Submission from: (NULL) (128.239.124.126) Start with a tab-delimited or comma-delimited text file created on the Mac and use read.table("filename.txt", header=T) to read it in. When the first column of the file contains a character vector, and there is a header line, the first letter of the first column of the fifth row is appended

error in seq.POSIXt?
I am trying to extract only the winters (defined to be 01-Dec through 28-Feb) of daily data from 1948-2002. There are 90 days in each winter season. I wrote the following code to gather the winter dates into a single vector: DJF <- NULL for(year in 1949:1999) { temp.begin <- strptime(paste("01/12", year-1, sep="/"), "%d/%m/%Y") temp.end <-

Wavelets correlation test
Hello, I use wavethresh packages to perform wavelet analysis. In particular, I would like to compare 2 signals (vectors) after a wavelet decomposition. I would like to use cor.test function, but this function acts on the entire vector values. I plan to perform a cor.test on each level of the wavelet decomposition, say N. So I will have at the end of a first step N results of cor.test. How can

boxplot and xlim confusion?
I have some code as shown below. Basically, I would like three boxplots to be set next to each other with no ylabels on the two "inner" plots, and I want the same x axis range on all three. However, it seems like boxplot does not respect the xlim setting. I've tried the various ways I thought would work (par, boxplot(...xlim=)) but none of them seem to work. I then tried plot.window,

accessing the attr(*,label.table) after importing from spss
Dear all, I just received a file from a colleague in spss. The read.spss could not finish the file due to an error (Unrecognized record type 7, subtype 18 encountered in system file) so instead I converted the file using stat-transfer. Looking at my data I see that most labels are in the attributes and I?d love to access them and assign the pertinent variables to factors without doing the whole
