installing R-1.3.1 on Solaris 2.6
Hi All,
I am trying to install R1.3.1 on solaris 2.6 using the gcc/g77 compiler.
The configure step succeeded, but make failed. The compiler versions I used

g77 version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
CC workshop Compilers 5.0 98/12/15 C++ 5.0
I can't use the c++ compiler(v2.95.2), since it failed the configure step. I
can't use f77 either,

Subject: Use of Rd2txt on .Rd files from rw-1.0.0
Files generated using prompt.data.frame() under rw-1.0.0 get
scrambled (mildly) when I process them under Rd2txt on Solaris,
(using R-devel 1.1.0).
Files generated under R-devel 1.1 on Solaris are processed ok.
The .Rd files from the two sources look identical. The problem

configure for R 1.5.x on Solaris (fwd)
Dear All,
No-one seemed to know about this on r-help, so I'm trying here....
I'm having problems at the configure stage when trying to build R on
Solaris 5.8. configure finds everything it needs but when it runs
config.status to make all the Makefiles and headers, I get a huge slew of
errors like this:
config.status: creating src/extra/zlib/Makefile

system(.., ignore.stderr = TRUE) problem on Solaris (PR#547)
(i.e. my version Solaris, see below...)
Note that system() is not only implemented quite system-dependently
(which you'd very much expect!) but also Unix and Windows have quite
different arguments apart from the first two.
Hence all the following is ``Unix-only'' :

R-0.64.1 make problem: Solaris 2.4
Greetings,
I'm attempting to install R-0.64.1 on a Sun Sparc 20 running Solaris 2.4 with
gcc-2.7.2.2, g77-0.5.20 and Gnu make 3.76-1.
On several occasions, the make process aborted when trying to build the shared object
file for the modreg package (its first attempt at such a beast). In all attempts, the error
message is as follows:

Building R on Solaris with SUNperf
Dear All,
I am building R-1.3.1 on Solaris 2.7 and I am trying to use the native
SUNperf BLAS/LAPACK. I have added the flags ("-dalign
-xlic_lib=sunperf") for the compilers in the config.site file.
What is not clear to me is what I have to do with the "--with-blas"
flag for ./configure. It seems to me that omitting it is not enough.
Any suggestions?

rl_callback_read_char error on Solaris 7
This question is about compiling R-1.6.2 from source on a
Sparcstation-20 machine running Solaris 7, gcc-2.95.3 and
readline-4.2 (both gcc and readline from sunfreeware.com).
I searched the r-help archive and the FAQ. The errors seem to be
related to the binary readline libraries, and I have
/usr/local/lib/libreadline.a,libreadline.so@, and
libreadline.so.4.
