Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
It can't be this hard, right? I really need a shove in the right direction here. Been spinning wheels for three days. Cannot get past the errors. I'm doing something wrong, obviously, since I can easily compute the Box's M right there in RStudio But I don't see what is wrong below with the coding equivalent. The entire code snippet is below. The code fails below on the call to

How to do a "Box's M" Test with
Trying to get past a frustrating error to do a "simple" Box's M test using Java. The Box's M test says it will work with a data.frame. Here's the setup code: REXP myDf = REXP.createDataFrame(new RList( new REXP[] { new REXPDouble(d1), new REXPDouble(d2), new REXPDouble(d3), new REXPDouble(d4), new REXPInteger(d5) })); Here's the call: REXP boxMResult =

converting character matrix to a dataframe
Dear R-Help, Suppose I have a character matrix, e.g., (ch.mat <- matrix(c('a','s','*','f','w','*','k','*','*','f','i','o'), ncol=3)) When I convert 'ch.mat' to a dataframe, the columns are converted to factors: (d1 <- data.frame(ch.mat)) mode(d1[,1]) is.factor(d1[,1]) To prevent

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
Hey Duncan, Hard to debug? That's an understatement. Eyes bleeding.... In any case, I tried all your suggestions. To get "integer" for the final column, I had to change the code to get integers instead of strings. double[] d1 = ((REXPVector) ((RList) tableRead).get(0)).asDoubles(); double[] d2 = ((REXPVector) ((RList) tableRead).get(1)).asDoubles(); double[] d3 = ((REXPVector)

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
Thanks Duncan. Awesome ideas! I think we're getting closer! I tried what you suggested and got a possibly better error... . . . rConnection.assign("boxMVariable", myDf); String resultBV = "str(boxMVariable)"; // your suggestion. RESULTING ERROR: Error in format.default(nam.ob, width = max(ncn), justify = "left") : invalid 'width' argument (No idea

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
I'm not sure what you mean. Could you please be more specific? If I print the string, I get: boxM(boxMVariable[, -5], boxMVariable[, 5]) From this code: . . . // assign the data to a variable.rConnection.assign("boxMVariable", myDf); // create a string command with that variable name.String boxVariable = "boxM(boxMVariable[, -5], boxMVariable[, 5])";

How to create a table structure in Java code?
Thanks! I just figured it out (thanks to "Beyond Compare") and was coming here to post back. The boxM test doesn't work with that (now, finally working) REXP structure, but I probably now need to create a table or something and parse that structure. So much fun! :) Thanks again. - M Sent from [ProtonMail](https://protonmail.com), Swiss-based encrypted email. > --------

how to recover a list structure
I am experiencing some problems at working with lists at high level. In the following "coef" contains the original DWT coefficients organized in a list. Thorugh applying the following two commands: coef.abs <- lapply(unlist(coef, recursive=FALSE,use.names =TRUE),abs) coef.abs.sorted <- sort(unlist(coef.abs),decreasing=TRUE) I get vector "coef.abs.sorted" containing

How to solve a non-linear system of equations using R
Dear R-list members, I've had a hard time trying to solve a non-linear system (nls) of equations which structure for the equation i, i=1,...,4, is as follows: f_i(d_1,d_2,d_3,d_4)-k_i(l,m,s) = 0 (1) In the expression above, both f_i and k_i are known functions and l, m and s are known constants. I would like to estimate the vector d=(d_1,d_2,d_3,d_4) which is solution

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
Thanks Duncan. I can't tell you how helpful all your terrific replies have been. I think the biggest surprise is that nobody appears to be using Java and R together like I"m trying to do. I suppose it should be a surprise since there are no books on the subject and almost no technical documentation other than a few sites here and there. ----- I originally had the "int" as the

R version 3.3.2, Windows 10: Applying a function to each possible pair of rows from two different data-frames
For certain reason, the content was not visible in the last mail, so posting it again. Dear Members, I have two different dataframes with a different number of rows. I need to apply a set of functions to each possible combination of rows with one row coming from 1st dataframe and other from 2nd dataframe. Though I am able to perform this task using for loops, I feel that there must be a more

> Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2015 00:13:45 +0100 > From: cof

About LLVM Pass dependency
Hello I am working on pass which has dependency on multiple passes. Say D1,D2,D3 I used INITIALIZE_PASS_BEGIN INITIALIZE_PASS_DEPENDENCY(D1) INITIALIZE_PASS_DEPENDENCY(D2) INITIALIZE_PASS_DEPENDENCY(D3) INITIALIZE_PASS_END. While running it through opt tool it, I had to specify this D1,D2,D3 pass names to get this pass executed before my pass. Is there way, to let llvm pass manager to know

Rounding variables in a data frame
Hi All I am trying to use the round function on some columns of a dataframe while leaving others unchanged. I wish to specify those columns to leave unchanged. My attempt is below - here, I would like the column d3 to be left but columns d1, d2 and d4 to be rounded to 0 decimal places. I would welcome any suggestions for a nicer way of doing this. d1= rnorm(10,10) d2= rnorm(10,6) d3=

Dear list, I have a question and I'm going to give an example of my problem f<- function(d1, d2, d3) { d<- d1*d2/d3 return(d) } v1<- 1 v2<- 2 If I try f(v1, v2, v3) Error in f(v1, v2, v3) : object "v3" not found I obviously got the above error message. I would like to add something to my function to allow me to get a certain value (say zero) if one of the arguments is

sem vs. LISREL: sem fails
I am new to R. I just tried to recreate in R (using sem package and the identical input data) a solution for a simple measurment model I have found before in LISREL. LISREL had no problems and converged in just 3 iterations. In sem, I got no solution, just the warning message: "Could not compute QR decomposition of Hessian. Optimization probably did not converge. in: sem.default(ram =
