Hi,
Are there some packages which can generate multi-normal, multi-t, etc
multivariate sampling? thanks!
Best wishes,
Peng

multivariate sampling question again
Hi
Thanks for replying my question! What really interested me is that the
package providing some complex form sampling, such as wishart,
multinomial, dirichlet. And others for example conditional beta
distribution confining the random variable in the interval (a, b). Since
these concept are widely used in the baysian, I wonder whether somebody
has already written this package. Thanks!

Compiling R on an Alpha
Sorry to be such a nuisance but after asking for help with compiling
R-1.1.0 on an Intel-based machine I now have another problem on the
Alpha DS-10 server which my students use.
Compilation and instalation proceed perfectly, but when I invoke R I
get:
[etdx01:bin]$ ./R
Fatal error: The X11 shared library could not be loaded.
The error was /home/etptupaf/R/lib/R/bin/R_X11.so: undefined

R - Compiling and calling Fortran code that uses IMSL libraries - Help!
Good Afternoon R Help!
On of my users is seriously thinking about moving to R from Splus. In his
testing, he has already found some benefits to it. He has, however run
into one issue, calling his Fortran functions in R. Previously, in Splus,
he would do the following:
1. Compile via f90 the *.f program
2. link the object file to the Fortran IMSL libraries via the 'ld' command
3.

configure can't find dgemm in MKL10
Hi,
I'm trying to follow the R-admin instructions for using MKL10 as the external BLAS compiling R-2.6.2 under Linux on a RH EL head node of a cluster. The configure process seems to have problems when it checks for dgemm in the BLAS. I'm using configure as:
./configure CC=icc F77=ifort --with-lapack="$MKL" --with-blas="$MKL" where $MKL is defined as in R-admin

Lack of independence in anova()
If the observations are normally distributed and the 2xk design is
balanced, theory requires that the tests for interaction and row effects be
independent. In my program, appended below, this would translate to cntT
(approx)= cntR*cntI/N if all R routines were functioning correctly. They
aren't.
sim2=function(size,N,p){
cntR=0
cntC=0
cntI=0
cntT=0

possible memory leak involving looping, optimization, and gam
When I run the gam function as part of an optimization and do the optimization many times using a loop, I'm finding that memory use increases over time (based on simply monitoring top). Below is some example code that involves varying the penalty parameter in gam, trying to find the value that gives exactly 50 edf for a simple smoothing problem. I thought I would post to the list to see if

rpart help
Hello. I am not sure if you can help me or not but I have a dataset with
N ~ 4000 with binary response and p ~ 0.08, regardless of how many or
how few variables I offer I get the following message: 'Error in

run tree with the same dataset (no missing data) in S I get results. Is

Help Needed in attempting to install 64-bit R!
Hello R Help,
I am attempting to install/build a 64-bit version of R to hopefully resolve some memory.limit problems for a user who is running a simulation. The 'configure' runs fine and the compilation (make) runs fine until the very last part (see below). I have libiconv in /usr/local/lib (no sure why I am getting the referencing error). The config.site file is attached. ANY HELP YOU

R_x11.so
Hi the list,
I just installed the R-1.7.0-1mdk.i516.rpm package on a mdk 9.1. All
looks fine until I try to launch some graphics functions as png() or
even demo( graphics). I receive the following example message:

grid.cap() requires more time?
Dear all,
I am puzzled by the following behavior of the new grid.cap() function,
which appears to run out of time when capturing the output of a
graphic. It works fine if I introduce a Sys.sleep(1) before executing
more code,
library(grid)
quartz()
grid.circle(gp=gpar(fill="black"))
gg <- grid.cap()
dev.new()
grid.raster(gg) ## completely blank

unable to load shared library '/usr/local/lib/R/modules//R_X11.so'
Hi,
I downloaded a binary version of R for my Solaris 10 box (from http://www.sunfreeware.com/programlistsparc10.html#R), and everything looked fine during the installation. However, I got a "X11 module cannot be loaded" error when I attempted to save a graph to be a png file. Does it look like a problem of the Solaris box or a problem of the installation (missing library file)?

Segmentation fault/buffer overflow with fix() in Fedora Core 5 from Extras repository
The Fedora Extras update of R found its way onto my systems today and
I noted that fix() and edit() no longer work. There is a program crash
that closes up R, but it does not leave a core file. I've tested by
turning off SELinux, it had no effect.
Do you see it too? What do you think? It happens on both systems
I've tested. As far as I know, both of these systems are up-to-date.

How do I access class slots from C?
Hi
I'm trying to implement something similar to the following R snippet using
C. I seem to have hit the wall on accessing class slots using C.

ewSpec <- portfolioSpec()
nAssets <- ncol(lppData)
setWeights(ewSpec) <- rep(1/nAssets, times = nAssets)

X11 and vfonts modules on AIX 5.2
I am trying to get R-2.2.1 to pass make check on an AIX 5.2 at work (I know R-2.2.1 is not the latest release, but I encountered make errors in my attempts to install either R-2.3.0 or the R-patched_2006-05-10 on the version of AIX I am on. I will post those errors in a separate posting from this.)
So far, configure and make finish without error for R-2.2.1 using gnu make, gcc-4.1.0, and
