problem in integrating C routine with R on windows XP
Hi All,
I a C function code, which has been successed in integrating
with Splus on Unix. Now I want to move it on windows.
So I want to integrate this C function with R on windows XP.
I download tools.zip and saved it in c:\bin directory,
download MinGW and saved it in c:\MinGw directory,
download Perl and saved it in c:\Perl directory.
My path is set as:

Hmisc?
I was looking for an R function to turn a matrix into a LaTeX table;
did an R site search using Jon Barron's machine and turned up the
latex() function in the Hmisc package.
But the Hmisc package is an Splus package, and appears not to be
available for R --- there is no hint of it in the list of contributed
packages on CRAN.
I had a look at the Hmisc package (via statlib) and there was no

sum
Dear helpers
I have a list where each element is a matrix (the list is
obtained with lapply). I want to sum those matrices. Is there a
function to do that? The sum function sums all the elements...

S intrp function
Hi.
I am trying some S-Plus scripts that I used a few years ago on R. Many
things have worked flawlesly and I am very impressed with the work the
developers have done. (As I remember, the license fee on S-Plus at that
time was ~$4500 per seat (AIX) ouch!!) So, thank you.
My question relates to the intrp function, which takes irregularly
spaced xyz data and produces a regular xyz grid

Bug in boxplot(..., add=TRUE) ?
R 1.6.1 on Windows NT4:
The boxplot() function appears to draw its own tick marks
and axis values even when called with add=TRUE. As a toy
example, try
x <- rnorm(100)
f <- factor(rep(1:4, each=25))
plot(c(0,4), c(-3,3), type="n", xaxt="n", yaxt="n")
boxplot(x ~ f, add=TRUE)
My expectation is that a high-level plotting function will
not mess with the axes

Writing packages with `methods' package
I'm trying to write a package which uses classes/methods as defined in the
`methods' package. I have a single .R file which defines the class and
various methods for that class. At the top of the file I have
require(methods)
and then
setClass("myclass", ...)
setGeneric("intersect")
setMethod("intersect", "myclass", function(x,y) ...)

Contour Plots
r-help,
I can't seem to get the below data organized in such a manner so as to
generate a contour plot
using any of the functions {lattice.contourplot, base.contour,
base.filled.contour}. I was wondering
if anyone could please tell me what I need to do to accomplish this.

geoR question from new R user
Hi,
I'm a new R user. My goal is to do a variogram using geoR.
I started by trying to do the example in the geoR Illustrative Session
using my own data.
I am able to read in my Ascii data using: D <- matrix(scan("file.dat",
n=530*3), 530,3, byrow=TRUE).
Then I use: as.geodata(D, coords.col=1:2, data.col=3) to make the
object D geodata.
I check the descriptive statistics,

cdf of the standard normal distribution
Dear Experts,
I need to calculate the cdf of the standard normal distribution, i.e.
H(x) = 1/sqrt(2*pi) integral(exp(-z^2/2) dz), where z is b/w -infi to
infi.
I know there should be a way to do it in R, but did not know to do it.
I'd appreciate any help you could offer.

gif, jpeg and png image files reader
Hi all,
Although R seems to have jpeg() and png() functions that converts data into
jpeg and png formated files, it
doesn't have functions the other way around.
Does one of R contributed packages have gif, jpeg and png image readers? I
did help.search() but no luck
Regards,
Jonathan

plot clusters
Hi,
I have a dataset which has more than two clusters (say 3 clusters).
I used kmeans to cluster the dataset.
I am wondering how I can plot the clustering result on a two-dimensional
figure????
The example in the kmeans help file is as follows:
x <- rbind(matrix(rnorm(100, sd = 0.3), ncol = 2),
matrix(rnorm(100, mean = 1, sd = 0.3), ncol = 2))
cl <- kmeans(x, 2, 20)

Has anyone tried to build r-devel on a RedHat 7.1 with the gcc 3.1.1
compiler? I didn't have problems with gcc 2.95.x or gcc 3.0.4, but when I
ran the configure with gcc 3.1.1 I got the following error:

lib-master test failure i686
Hello List,
I've built and checked successfully dovecot and dovecot-pigeonhole on
CentOS 6 x86_64
Immediately below are the successful make check (ok) tests of dovecot
'lib-master' (x86_64).
Below that are the unsuccessful (fails) tests of dovecot 'lib-master' on
i686.
Does anyone have a clue as to why these test would fail on i686?

Rioja package, creating transfer function, WA, "Error in FUN"
Hi, I am a new R user and am trying to construct a palaeoenvironmental
transfer function (weighted averaging method) using the package rioja.
I've managed to insert the two matrices (the species abundance and the
environmental data) and have assigned them to the y and x values
respectively. When I try and enter the 'WA' function though, I get an 'Error

Does matmult exist?
Does the function 'matmult' still exist in R? It has a help page and is
referenced in the help page for 'kronecker', but I can't seem to access
the function itself. Obviously, not an issue of great concern but just a
curiosity.

shared ATLAS library?
>From "R Installation and Administration:"
Note that the BLAS library will be used for several add-on packages as
well as for R itself. This means that it is better to use a
shared BLAS library, as most of a static library will be compiled
into the R executable and each BLAS-using package.
Is there an idiots guide on how to do this (or should idiots just not try).

sourcing a file with the plot.lme() function
I ran into a problem trying to make a plot from a file that's read using
source. Basically, I have the following code in a file "plot.R" :
library(nlme)
data(Loblolly)
fm1 <- nlme(height ~ SSasymp(age, Asym, R0, lrc),
data = Loblolly,
fixed = Asym + R0 + lrc ~ 1,
random = Asym ~ 1,
start = c(Asym = 103, R0 = -8.5, lrc = -3.3))
