Missing variable in new dataframe for prediction
Hi, I'm using a loop to evaluate several models by taking adjacent variables from my dataframe. When i try to get predictions for new values, i get an error message about a missing variable in my new dataframe. Below is an example adapted from ?gam in mgcv package library(mgcv) set.seed(0) n<-400 sig<-2 x0 <- runif(n, 0, 1) x1 <- runif(n, 0, 1) x2 <- runif(n, 0, 1) x3 <-

attributing names in predicted type="terms" gam object
Hi, suppose i have a gam object gamobject<- gam( Y~ s(X1)+s(X2)+ X3) I would like to extract the predicted partial effect of X3 but selecting it by its name, as it's to be included in a function and i don't always know the exact position of X3. something like predict(gamobject,type="terms")["X3",]. But that doesn't work as there's no name. So, looking

Cross-Browser History management
Hi ! Is it plan to release a Browser History Management in Scriptaculous ? Or does anybody know a "prototype" library to manage browser history compatible with IE6, IE7 and FF ? We tried to use Really Simple History: http://code.google.com/p/reallysimplehistory/ But it seems to be incompatible with some Prototype event management. Hi, Is there migration for custom Effect between prototype/scriptaculous 1.4 and 1.5 ? Kevin Davis send me it''s cool Poof Effect but it seems to be tooooo fast in last version of scriptaculous. I think it comes from the code ? But I don''t know the best way to correct that ? Here is a copy/past of his mail for anybody interested in his Effect: > > Hey there, sorry for

model of fish over exploitation
Dear all, I have a serious problem to solve my model. I study over exploitation of fish in the bay of biscay (france). I know only the level of catch and the fishing effort (see data below) by year. My model is composed by the following equations: * the growth function Gt(St) = r*St*(1-St/sbar) with Gt the growth of each period t r intrinsec growth of the stock sbar carriyng capacity of the

ACK's overhead
Good day time! We've noticed the following issue with Samba 3.0.1 on Linux. When SMB client asks for the first time on FID for a locking or read request on an opened file, it causes an ACK to be sent from client side. Windows server also requests ACK BUT much more rarely. Sending ACK causes additional overhead when working in heavy locking and unlocking environment. Windows server

problems with new checks in R-devel
Below are a few problems I have encountered with the new checks being done in R-devel. 1/ I have two generics, test.equal and test.equal.tframe. The first checks that two objects are equal while the second checks if two objects have equal tframes (time frames). There is no reason these should have similar arguments but the check seems to think that test.equal.tframe is a method for test.equal so

Failed to Set UID Error and Can't become connected user Error
I am certainly not an expert on Samba, so I apologize in advance for this question if I should know the answer. A week ago our main file server crashed and had to be replaced. Our new server is running Fedora Core 8 and Samba 3.0.26a-6 but has been very unstable. We are running a small network of Windows XP Pro and Home clients accessing the server (10 clients). ERROR ONE: I am getting

syskern
The bug list summary reported an error in syskern which I finally realized is due to a badly chosen example in the help rather an error in the code. However, I have taken the opportunity to re-evaluate what I have been trying to do with syskern, since some parts may no longer be important. Since syskern was intended to address certain problems in package development I would appreciate other

Sending emails from R under Windows
Hi Does anyone know of any R routines to send emails from R, under Windows? I thought about writing such a facility using the R(D)COM package to drive e.g. MS Outlook, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I have found a function Sys.mail in the library syskern, but this only works under Unix by shelling out a mail command. Thanks, David
