unable to create channel of type 'SIP'
I'm trying to use OpenBTS with Asterisk. I have two phones that are connecting to OpenBTS correctly, but on the Asterisk side the phones can't call each other. I followed this guide: http://gnuradio.org/redmine/projects/gnuradio/wiki/OpenBTSSettingUpAsterisk I set up two phones in sip.conf and extensions.conf. In my SIP output I see this: WARNING[1689]: app_dial.c:2041 dial_exec_full:

offset
I would like to do a logistic multiple regression on a binary variate, with what Genstat calls an offset, ie a regression variable with the coefficient constrained=1. I'm far from home and have Splus but not R here, but any information from either source would be very welcome. I'd hate to have to go back to using Genstat . . . Thanks, Ted. --------------- Dr E.A. Finishing up the contributors list as well
Guys, OK, now that we have the new core contributors squared away, we can go back to finishing the contributors list. There were some people who got added and then there is existing contributors list. I think Darren''s suggestion to wait to add new core contributors is fine (let the new constitution settle down and we can in the meanwhile have a more inclusive look at both rather than

Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, Ogg FLAC
Now that FLAC has officionally joined the Xiph family, there are three different free audio codecs, which can be stored/transported using the ogg container. Would it be possible to create an API and/or a library that would cover them all? If my understanding of the situation is correct, if an application wants to support vorbis, speex and flac, it has to use three different interfaces.

1.8.1 and subsetting dataframes
I've encountered something that didn't arise using earlier versions of R (Linux). A dataframe is created and new columns added to it by doing calculations using apply with various functions on some of the original columns. It's somewhat too involved to give a toy example that's reproducible. However, the resulting phenemonon can be characterised by the following: Browse[1]>

subloop - flexible coding - variable number of loops
Hello, I want to create a flexible code for the following example: In stead of using a different code for each n (as in my example below), I want to write a general code for every n (n from 1 to 10). I tried a lot of things, but I always got stuck with the number of subloops or witch closing the brackets. Any suggestions? Cheers, Peter Department of Mathematics and Statistics

Subtitle?
Hi, Is it possible to add a subtitle that appears directly below the main title? I tried the "sub" parameter, but it adds sub-title to the bottom of the plot. Length of a string
Hi, Suppose I have created something like this in R: foo <- "myfoo" and I want to find out the number of character in foo (in other words, R should return 5 since "myfoo" has 5 charactors. How can I do it? I tried: length(foo) but it returned 1. Cheers, Kevin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ko-Kang Kevin Wang

Re: Writting R Function
Hi, I think I found the problem. It lies in my Fortran program. Is there a way, after a DO loop, to make sure it does NOT return anything? Randomly extract rows from a data frame
Hi, I am looking for a way to randomly extract a specified number of rows from a data frame. I was planning on binding a column of random numbers to the data frame and then sorting the data frame using this bound column. But I can't figure out how to use this column to sort the entire data frame so that the content of the rows remains together. Does anyone know how I can do this? Hints

tapply
I'm having trouble with tapply, it seems to give me NA for the mean of a set like {2, 3, 4, NA}, can I get it to ignore the NA's and give me a mean like say, three? Am I just doing something stupid? Any help would be apprecitated, Also are there PDF versions of any of the R stats books around that I might be able to get my hands on? Bryn

aio_pthread on Debian?
Hello list, I am looking to enable samba aio on my Wheezy test box (I have version 4.1.17 from back ports). The output of smbd -b shows that the stable packages for my distro are not compiled using --with-aio-support. It appears that without recompiling I can use vfs objects = aio_pthread to achieve a similar effect? I'm aware that this somewhat dips into Debian specifics, but I figured

xfig boxplot (polygon) bug??
There appears to be a bug in the R xfig() driver. When I run a simple example, eg > data(InsectSprays) > boxplot(count ~ spray, data = InsectSprays, col = "lightgray") the boxplot is fine. Doing the same thing after > xfig(file='test.fig') and then opening in Xfig (ver3.2 patchlevel 2) on my Linux box produces boxplots where the boxes, although correctly shaded in,
