Organizing the help files in a package
Dear all!!
I am using R1.4.1 on windows 98.
I had been trying to organize the package and has already been able to
document some of the functions in to .Rd (R documentation) files. From these
.Rd files I generated plain text files as well as html files.
I have also given the 00Index file in each of the directories:

passing the reference in R functions
Hello!
is it possible to send the vector in the r functions without making the
function frame to actually have the replicate copy of it ?

How to increases the Memory size for R in Batch mode
hello everybody!!
I am using "Rcmd BATCH" command to run simulation on R in batch mode on
win98 machine.
Would it be possible to increase the memory size of R; if so how and what is
the default memory size used, and what is the limit to which I can increase
the memory size.
My machine configurations:
512MB Ram with Intel P-III processor working at 1GHz speed.

RE: R crashes when .Fortran embeded function, is called twice in R --> solved
Hi all,
Thanks to everybody who thought on this problem, there was slight mistake in
the fortran code which lead to NULL pointer allocation error, but still it
surprises me that why it does not crib in the first run. The compiler I am
using is absoft fortran compiler.
Cheers,

How to use PV on HVM
Hi,
I am trying to setup Xen to use "PV on HVM". For this, I did the following.
(1) I followed the tutorial at
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Fedora13Xen4Tutorial to setup Xen4.0.1 on
Fedora13. I am able to run virt-manager and create a Fedora 13 guest.
(2) I followed the tutorial at

Realtime Problem = Segmentation faults
Hi:
I had asterisk with RealTime database working perfectly in a RH 9.0
machine. I used the sip cache so I even had MWI working. The problem
is that I decided to move to Fedora Core 3. I installed the lastets cvs
version of asterisk and the RealTime addon from asterisk-addons. I at
first had the problems with the kernel and the zaptel driver but all
that was solved with the

randomizing within factors and combining unequal-sized arrays
Dear R folks -
Sorry to be so dense, but can you help me with two
programming problems?
1. Randomizing within factors.
I have factored the values in an array according to a series
of ranked breakpoints. Now I want to randomize the values that fall
within each of the breakpoint boundaries, without replacement. I want
to end up with an array in which the values within each factored

Please help: ANOVA with SS Type III for unequal sample sized data
Dear R experts,
I'm beginner.
My question about ANOVA for unequal sample sized data should be obsolete but
I can not clarify it.
I have a dataset from 23 males and 18 females.
I measured one condition('cond') with 4 levels.
So I'd like to see main effect of gender, cond and gender by cond
interaction and also postHoc test. (In fact, I have to do anova 90 times)

Linux Software RAID 1 - Unequal Sized Hard Disks
Has anyone created or rebuilt a Linux Software RAID having mirrored
partitions on unequal sized hard disks ? There is a CentOS 5 server
having two 400 GB hard disks with five mirrored partitions (software
RAID 1) and one of the hard disks is dying. Since new 400 GB HDDs are
not available here, we are exploring the possibility of replacing the
faulty hard disk with one of a higher capacity (500 GB

Math Symbols in plots under Darwin/Panther
I've just committed a new version of the quartz device to R-devel.
This seems to fix the problem with displaying math symbols in plots
under Panther.
I can't not more test R under Jaguar (at least not these days). In case
you have the opportunity to do that, please send me a report if it
brokes everything under Jaguar (or eventually say "it's ok")

SIP MWI and MySQL Realtime
I know that there are some patches being worked on to cache realtime
users that might ultimately fix this problem, but until then, here is a
little script that brings back the MWI when using the excellent mysql
realtime architecture with sip:

This script relies on sipsak utility found at http://sipsak.berlios.de/

axis.POSIXct: Datetime data and plotting
I've run into a problem with the datetime axis generated by axis.POSIXct. It appears a similar issue was discussed in October 2003 under the subject line "datetime data and plotting" (see https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2003-October/039071.html), but I wasn't able to determine whether there is a straightforward solution.
The code below produces a graph with apparently

r-help,
I can't seem to get the below data organized in such a manner so as to
generate a contour plot
using any of the functions {lattice.contourplot, base.contour,
base.filled.contour}. I was wondering
if anyone could please tell me what I need to do to accomplish this.

PDC without profiles?
Hi --
I'd like to try running Samba as a PDC simply for authentication -- that
is without doing any profile management, i.e. I'd like Windows to not
write anything to the network after logout. Is this possible with Samba?
I'm not seeing an obvious answer to this. Thanks!

R vs. Bugs
A naive question from a non-statistician: I'm looking into running a
Bayesian analysis of a model with high dimensionality. It's not a
standard model (the likelihood requires a lot of code to implement),
and I'm using a Linux machine. Was wondering if someone
has any thoughts on what the advantages of OpenBugs are as
opposed to just R (or should I be thinking WinBUGS under Wine?)?

Bonferroni with unequal sample sizes
Hello-
I have run an ANOVA on 4 treatments with unequal sample sizes (n=9,7,10 and 10). I want to determine where my sig. differences are between treatments using a Bonferroni test, and have run the code:
pairwise.t.test(Wk16, Treatment, p.adf="bonf")
I receive an error message stating that my arguments are of unequal length:
Error in tapply(x, g, mean, na.rm = TRUE) :

unequal variance assumption for lme (mixed effect model)
Dear Douglas and R-help,
Does lme assume normal distribution AND equal variance among groups
like anova() does? If it does, is there any method like unequal
variance T-test (Welch T) in lme when each group has unequal variance
in my data?
Thanks,

coding for categorical variables with unequal observations
Hi,
I am doing multiple regression, and have several X variables that are
categorical.
I read that I can use dummy or contrast codes for that, but are there
any special rules when there're unequal #observations in each groups (4
females vs 7 males in a "gender" variable)?
Also, can R generate these codes for me?
THanks.
