animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it.
A very simple example of what I need:
##==============================================================================
library(grid)
grid.newpage()
pushViewport(plotViewport())
pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)),
yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100))))
grid.xaxis()
grid.yaxis()

Common keys on separate lattice plots
In 'normal' plotting, by using text(.... outer = TRUE), I can set a
title that can refer to multiple plots.
I'm trying to achieve a similar effect with several trellis objects
with which I wish to use a common key. I can only think of
complicated ways of achieving such an end by using a separate grid
graphic which didn't have any plot, but text only.
Is there something more

Problems with example(Grid) in grid package
The following:
library(grid)
grid.newpage()
example(Grid)
has the yaxis label partly cut off and the x axis label does not appear at all.
Also ?grid.multipanel in that example brings up documentation for
grid-internal but this would not seem to be internal if its part of an example.
I am using:

Can anyone tell me how to plot on the same graph two different functions
(of x) using two differnt y scales (axes 2 and 4)?
Thanks

multipanel display of levelplots?
I cannot achieve a multipanel display of several levelplots. Here is
part of my code.
At first, create the layout:
push.viewport(viewport(layout=grid.layout(1, 2)))
Then for the left panel:
push.viewport(viewport(layout.pos.col=1,layout.pos.row=1))
push.viewport(viewport(width=0.6, height=0.6))
levelplot(z~x*y, grid)
pop.viewport()
Similar code for the right panel.
However, there is always

Using dates on axis with Grid plots
Hi,
I'm trying to use Grid plots and would like to have an X axis that
represents dates. I have several years of data so I would like to be able to
have labeled tick marks only intermittently (not one per date). I can
transform the initial data from a date time string into POSIXlt or POSIXct,
or Date objects.
The issue is that when I try to layout the plot using:
dev.off()

Plotting w/multiple y-axes?
How do I plot using multiple(2) y-axes?
I have two series that use the same x-data, but have very different scales.
Appreciate any feedback,

grid package and lines
Hello list,
When using the grid package in R 1.60 under windows grid.lines and
grid.line.to seem not to use the coordinate system as defined by the current
viewport whereas grin.points does. Am I doing something wrong?

ctree
Hello,
I plotted a nice tree with "ctree" . It shows 3 nodes with the prediction of
my 2 groups. (see picture)
Unfortunately I need a larger scale to read the exact prediction of my
groups to get the specificity and sensitivity. I tried to change the scale
with "axis" but it didn't work, my guess because it's not a normal graph
with x and y axis.
Has someone an idea

Lattice xyplot multipanels
Derar Rxperts,
I have a strange situation.. I see curly brackets around "strip.levels" in
multipanel strips while using lattice::xyplot. .How do I get rid of the
curly brackets? For some reason, I am not able to reproduce the problem
using an example below...
Any suggestions are highly welcome!
Thanks,
Santosh

Using pointsize with postscript trellis.device
I've been accustomed to specifying a postscript file and pointsize
like so:

text length in grid
Hello! I first would like to compliment the authors of grid on what has been
a wonderfully useful package for me. Now, my question: Is there any way I
can specify the size of some grid.text using grid units?
I must label the regions of a plot. The regions can be either very small or
very large, so I would like to label each by fitting its text to the size of
the region in question. Ideally, I

extracting elements from a list in vectorized form
Hi;
It seems to me that has probably been asked in the past. But I cannot find
the track.
I usually need to extract elements from a list and contruct vector from
them; e.g., to create a table. Perhaps there is a way to directly extract
them without looping?
Simple example:
> S.lst
$sublist.1
$sublist.1$age
[1] 24.58719
$sublist.1$weight
[1] 60.82861
$sublist.2
$sublist.2$age

Window on a vector
Dear all,
I have a large vector (lets call it myVector) and I want to plot its value with the logic below
yaxis<-myVector[1]
yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[2:3])
yaxis<-c(xaxis,mean(myvector[4:8])
yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[9:16])
yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[17:32])
this has to stop when the new ..... yaxis<c(xaxis,mean(myvector[1024:2048]) will not find the correspondent number

3 levelplots and 1 colorbar
I want to create a simple plot containing three levelplots with one colorbar.
I used the "Three levelplots" code below, but the third levelplot is drawn
smaller than the first two. However, if I try the "Two levelplots" code below
it works well. Can anybody tell me how could I draw three levelplots (of the
same size) with one colorbar.
Thanks in advance, Joaquin

efficient list indexing
Hello everyone,
I need some help with lists inside lists (a good way to emulate a struct)\
Assume that there is a small list called fred:
fred <- list(happy = 1:10, name = "squash")
and a big list called bigfred that includes fred list 5 times
bigfred <- rep(fred,5)
Is it possible somehow to index all these sublists(fred) inside bigfred with a
more direct way like this:

List filtration
Hello R-ologists,
Imagine you have a list "list" like so:
>list

[1] "IPI00776145.1" "IPI00776187.1"
[[2]]
[1] "Something" "IPI00807764.1" "IPI00807887.1"
[[3]]
[1] "IPI00807764.1"
[[4]]
[1] "Somethingelse"
What I need to achieve is a filtered list "list2" like so:
>list2
