How to understand output from R's polr function (ordered logistic regression)?
I am new to R, ordered logistic regression, and polr.
The "Examples" section at the bottom of the help page for

ordered logistic regression - cdplot and polr
Hi,
I have a dataset that I am trying to analyze and plot as an ordered logistic
regression (y = ordinal categories 1-3, x = continuous variable with values
3-9).
First is a problem with cdplot:
Produces a beautiful plot, with the "right" trend, but my independent factor
values are transformed. The factor has values from 3-9, but the plot
produces an x-axis with values from 20-140.

Likelihood ratio test for proportional odds logistic regression
Hi,
I want to do a global likelihood ratio test for the proportional odds
logistic regression model and am unsure how to go about it. I am using
the polr() function in library(MASS).
1. Is the p-value from the likelihood ratio test obtained by
anova(fit1,fit2), where fit1 is the polr model with only the intercept
and fit2 is the full polr model (refer to example below)? So in the

Problem with ordered logistic regression using polr function.
Hi,
I'm trying to fit a ordered logistic regression. The response variable
(y) has three levels (0,1,2).
The command I've used is:
/ordlog<-polr(y~x1+x2+x3+x4, data=finalbase, subset=heard, weight=wt,
na.action=na.omit)

(There are no NA's in y but there are NA's in X's)

Fitting a logistic regression

I have this data:

where AMP is the concentration of this metabolite with time. If you plot
the data, you can see that it could be fitted using a logistic
regression. For this purpose, I used this code:

Using VGAM's vglm function for ordinal logistic regression

I think glm() can only handle binary response
variable, and polr() can only handle ordinal response
variable. how to do logistic regression with

ordinal logistic model with pre-defined coefficients
Hi,
I'm trying to fit a proportional ordinal logistic model using function
polr() (package MASS).
Is there a way to fix certain betas in the regression (e.g. function
arima() allows this by defining fixed )
Maybe there is another function than polr() which allows that?

Hi R help,
I am trying to determine how nls() generates a function based on the
self-starting SSlogis and what the formula for the function would be.
I've scoured the help site, and other literature to try and figure
this out but I still am unsure if I am correct in what I am coming up
with.

ordered logistic regression with random effects. Howto?
I'd like to estimate an ordinal logistic regression with a random
effect for a grouping variable. I do not find a pre-packaged
algorithm for this. I've found methods glmmML (package: glmmML) and
lmer (package: lme4) both work fine with dichotomous dependent
variables. I'd like a model similar to polr (package: MASS) or lrm
(package: Design) that allows random effects.

likelyhood maximization problem with polr
Dear community,

nls not accepting control parameter?
Hi
I want to change a control parameter for an nls () as I am getting an error
message "step factor 0.000488281 reduced below 'minFactor' of 0.000976562".
Despite all tries, it seems that the control parameter of the nls, does not
seem to get handed down to the function itself, or the error message is
using a different one.

Package 'MASS' (polr): Error in svd(X) : infinite or missing values in 'x'
Hello,
I am trying to run an ordinal logistic regression (polr) using the package
'MASS'.
I have successfully run other regression classes (glm, multinom) without
much problem, but with the 'polr' class I get the following error:
" Error in svd(X) : infinite or missing values in 'x' "
which appears when I run the "summary" command.

Struggling to compute marginal effects !
In that case, I can't work out why the first model fails but not the
second. I would start looking at "Data" to see what it contains. if:
object2 <- polr(Inc ~ Training ,Data,Hess = T,method = "logistic" )
works, the problem may be with the "Adopt" variable.

I?m trying to fit a nonlinear model to a derivative of the logistic function
y = a/(1+exp((b-x)/c)) (this is the parametrization for the SSlogis function with nls)
The derivative calculated with D function is:
