Another plot question
Here is another, perhaps trivial, plotting question. I am making a filled contour plot and have almost everything dialed in the way I want it. The last hurdle (that I can foresee) is adjusting the look of the key. I'm plotting the 25%, 50%, 75%, and 95% quantiles and I want the key to be evenly spaced, e.g., the width of the 25% and the 95% should look the same on the key. They are labeled

adding contour lines to a filled.contour
Hi all, Does anybody know how to add contour lines to a filled contour plot? I want to draw a single contour around values that are above a certain level (e.g., significant). The problem I'm having is that since the filled.contour command actually draws two plots (data and the key), adding contour lines paints them over both plots. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy #~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Axes in filled.contour plots
I am attempting to create a contour plot using R with this code: > contour <- as.matrix(read.csv("contour.csv", row.names=1, header=TRUE)) > library(gplots) > filled.contour(contour, main="Flume 1 Flow Velocities") Now this produces the image/plot that I am looking for perfectly. However, the both axes only go from 0 to 1 instead on of using the row and column

Problem with filled.contour/image
Quick question - I am having problems creating an orographic image (similar to volcano example). I have created a map matrix with 3 columns and over 2million rows. I have created the matrix as follows: map<-read.table("map.dat",header=TRUE) long.grid<-sort(unique(map$long) lat.grid<-sort(unique(map$lat) map.matrix<-matrix(map$height,nrow=length(lat.grid),byrow=TRUE) The

filled.contour and time axis
Dear all, I am using filled.contour and my x-axis consists of a vector of dates, formatted using as.POSIXct. When I assign this vector to x in filled.contour, the x-axis in the plot is correctly formatted as dates. However, when I use plot.axes=axis(1) in filled.contour the x-axis is not correctly formatted. I need to opt for the latter because I want to add additional lines and points to the

filled.contour - color palette so z=0 ONLY is blue
I am trying to create a topographic map of an island - the filled.contour function works fine except i am experiencing difficulty trying to represent the sea properly. Basically I want the default colour blue for any instance where z=0, if I simply use the default topo.color I get shades of blue for z values up to 220 metres. Is there a way in which I can specify terrain.color for all values of

Could we make filled.contour() more suitable for PDF viewers?
Note that I sent this to r-devel, yesterday. However, it didn't appear on the mailing list. So, I'm resending it. Today, I plotted the following: > filled.contour (,,z, color.palette=terrain.colors) It looked OK, in R. However, when I created a PDF document, the plot (and other similar plots) had grid (and other) lines in it, that shouldn't be there. Note that this problem is more

filled contour plot with contour lines
I'm stumped, can anyone find my error in this sequence. for(j in 1:(varsize[4]-1)) temp <- get.var.ncdf(nc=input, varid="p_foraging",c(1,1,j),c(varsize[1],varsize[2],1)) filled.contour(x, y, temp, color = terrain.colors, plot.title = title(main = paste("Everglades Wood Stork Foraging Potential \nYear", (2000+j)), xlab =

multiple plot layout and filled contour
Hello everybody, Could anybody give me a hint how I can use "layout" and "filled.contour" (or "image" plot with a color legend) together, please? What I want to do is something like the following example (Two or more plots with a legend for each at one page): data(volcano) layout(matrix(1:2, 1, 2, byrow = TRUE)) for (i in 1:2) { filled.contour(i*volcano, color =

contour and filled contour plots
Hello, I'd like to remove color bar from "filled.contour" plot. Is it possible and how? I also want to overlay "contour" plot on filled.contour but due to scaling of the "filled.contour" to account for the color bar, aspect ratio for "contour" is different from "filled.contour". Can this problem be solved? Thanks, Mark

Add arrows to a filled.contour margin
Hi, I try to put an arrow to a filled.contour plot. I make this: filled.contour(volcano, color = terrain.colors,key.axes=F) arrows(0.95,0,0.95,1,lwd=2) This work, but the problem is that I find the coordinates at random try, for other graphic with other scale is other fight with coordinates. Anybody know a more easy or more generalized way to make this? Somethink like this

filled maps
Hi R-Help, I would like to make filled contour maps of ocean data overlaid by costlines from the map package. I can draw the filled contours and the coastlines om the same plot, but the filled contour also covers part of the land. To get rid of that I tried to draw a filled coastline map on top of the filled contour, but the filled map only draws the closed contours - so most of the land is

2D filled.contour plot with 1D histograms by axes
Hi everyone, I hope this question is beyond "read the manual". My task is simple, just to plot the following, but the plot in the middle should be a filled.contour plot: http://gallery.r-enthusiasts.com/graph/Scatterplot_with_marginal_histograms_78 Background: I prefer filled.contour rather than hist2d. Because, I could use kernel smooth, so the plot for discrete data won't be too

annotating a filled contours plot with a grid of points
Dear R-help members, I am trying to plot annotate a filled contours plot (with filled.contour) with a grid of points. I have read ways of annotating it with individual points but not with grids in another matrix. Any ideas? Thank you very much. How to use filled.contour(x,y,z) data for levelplot(z)?
Dear all, We used the following function to create a spatial plot of a raster image: filled.contour(xx,yy,zz, color = terrain.colors, nlevels=10, main=naamjaar, plot.axes = { contour(Xcoord/1000,Ycoord/1000,lim.data, nlevels = 4, col=4,drawlabels = T, axes = FALSE, frame.plot = FFALSE, add = TRUE);axis(1); axis(2);

How to plot Contour with NA in dataframe
Dear friends, I am trying to produce Contour Plot with R, but there are some NA in my data matrix. After I ran the following R script, I got the error message:"no proper `z' matrix specified". Does anybody know how to plot contour chart with R for the non-strict matrix? Thank you in advance!!!

filled.contour
Hi, I want to draw a level plot. The levels are not evenly spaced, so I did something like: levels=c(0,2,5,10,30,60). I still want the color bar (key) on the right side to be evenly spaced so that the small numbers (0,2,5) are not squeezed together. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks! Jinfeng
