Orientation of tickmarks labels in boxplot/plot
Hi, I have been trying draw tickmark labels along the y - axis perpendicular to the y axis while labels along the x - axis parallel to x axis while making box plot. Here is my test dataset. sunspot data in R 2.0.0
I noticed this in the NEWS: o Datasets 'sunspot.month' and 'sunspot.year' are available separately but not via data(sunspot) (which is used by package lattice to retrieve a dataset 'sunspot'). Now, the 'sunspot' dataset included in lattice was actually a mistake, I realized later that I instead wanted the 'sunspots' data from

xyplot/levelplot: thickness of tickmarks
Hi, if I use the xyplot (or levelplot) function (lattice library) with the option axs="i", I have the problem that the tickmarks lie a bit outside the "plot-box". Consider for example: library(lattice) x<-seq(0,1,by=0.01) y<-seq(0,1,by=0.01) xyplot(y~x,type="l",xlim=c(0,1),ylim=c(0,1),scales=list

reducing space between tickmark labels and axes labels
Hello, Does anybody know if it is possible to reduce the spaces between axes labels and axes lables in boxplots? I am trying to fit several plots onto one page ( layout() ) and need to save as much space as possible. I have reduced margins (par(mar)),adjusted font size (cex) and tck, is there anything else I can do? Thank you [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

persp(): z-axis annotation overwrites numbers at tickmark
Dear R-users first, thanks to Paul Murrell for fixing my problem "What line is labeled in persp()". It works great now (in the development version). One more question (I don't know if it's related to the "old" problem): the annotation on the z-axis overwrites the numbers at the tickmarks and sometimes, if numbers are pretty long, the numbers themselfe overlap the

{lattice/grid} "Error using packet 1" and traceback
On some errors during the plot of a lattice/grid graphics, there is written a message like "Error using packet 1: missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed" into the concering panel and the next panel is plotted. Which option I could use to stop the execution to have a look at the error by a traceback? Regards - Wolfram

lattice/xyplot: horizontal y-axis labels with scales(relation="free")
I would like to create an xyplot with varying y-axis limits and horizontal labels at the y-axis tickmarks. The following does not seem to work, although I think it should, going by the documentation for par. R version 2.5.1, Windows XP Prof. Thanks for a clue. Andreas Krause library(lattice) # axis labels for y-axis are horizontal xyplot(Sepal.Length ~ Sepal.Width | Species, data=iris) #

rotated labels in barplot with beside=T and multiple groups
I have a data set that I display using barplot. I don't know what you call it, but when I look at it, it looks like this: > lsu (0,0.1] (0.1,0.2] (0.2,0.3] (0.3,0.4] (0.4,0.5] (0.5,0.6] A 0.052631579 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 B 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.001007049 0.003021148 0.000000000 0.000000000 E 0.200000000 0.000000000

Questions for package ts prediction
Dear helpers, I am trying to write a function to return prediction values using package ts. I have written three different versions since I am not sure what's wrong with my func2. func and func1 return the same results.But func1 and func2 don't. In particular, the only difference between "func1" and "func2" is the function variable name being y and data, respectively.

unable to add IP address to eth0:0 eth0:1 etc
Hi all, I need to (quickly!grrr) update IP addresses for which a given machine will answer. I did this: /sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 xx.xx.xx.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 /sbin/ifconfig eth0:1 xx.xx.xx.11 netmask 255.255.255.0 /sbin/ifconfig eth0:2 xx.xx.xx.30 netmask 255.255.255.0 /sbin/ifconfig eth0:3 xx.xx.xx.31 netmask 255.255.255.0 /sbin/ifconfig eth0:4 xx.xx.xx.13 netmask 255.255.255.0

multiple print commands in win.metafile()
Hi All, I need a file which I can import to MS Word, I'm trying win.metafile(), but it does not seem to support multiple print commands at once (please see below). Is there an alternative to get plots file which can be used in powerpoint/word? # R code: # this does not work; but same thing works with pdf() library(lattice) win.metafile("test.wmf") p1 <- xyplot(decrease ~

Labels on axes with log scales with lattice
I using lattice to make some plots and I want to make the y-axis on some of these plots use a log scale. In the following plot: x <- 1:10 y <- 2^x xyplot(log10(y) ~ x) I get tick marks on the y-axis at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0. I would rather have just 3 tick marks at 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 but labeled 10, 100, and 1000. I know this can be done using the "at" and

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Thanks Jeff, I attached a file with the program to my earlier email because the posting guide seemed to imply that non-binary attachments would work. But I see that the file was stripped off. I installed the program file on a web site, but when I downloaded it, the line breaks were stripped out. So I've included the program below: ------------------------------------------------------- #

Labelling and formatting of graphics
In the output of the code below, I want to do the following: - get hats over some of the betas - get the polygons stippled, not coloured grey - remove the tick marks at the ends of the axes. If I put tick = false, the whole axis disappears. betahat <- c(0.04*0:150) betahatdens <- dnorm(betahat, 3, 1) plot(betahat, betahatdens, xlim = c(-0.2, 6.2),

finer control of scales in xyplot
When plotting over multiple pages in lattice, I'd like to be able to have "same" scales within a page, but "free" scales between pages. In other words, something like: z<-data.frame(x=1:100, y=runif(100), d=rep(1:2,50), p=rep(1:2,each=50)) plot<-xyplot(y~x|d*p, data=z,

lattice: cumsum and xyplot
I want to display cumulative summary functions with lattice. First I tried to get cumulated data: library(lattice) data(barley) d.cum <- with( barley, by( yield, INDICES=list(site=site,year=year), FUN=cumsum ) ) I got a list of vectors. I tried to get a dataframe which I could use in xyplot. But neither of the following functions led to the goal: d.cum.df1 <-

problem with srt vector in xyplot {lattice}

New CentOS DNS Server woes
Hi folks, I've put my new DNS server in place, told the primary that this IP would be pulling zones and restarted BIND on the primary. I configured my named.conf file to pull zones from the primary, started BIND on the new box. Here's where I get confused ++++++++++++++++++++++++ [root at sunspot etc]# /etc/init.d/named status number of zones: 169 debug level: 0 xfers running: 0 xfers
