barplot & plot together
Dear colleges, I'm trying to combine a barplot and a plot in a single figure as follows: data <- 1:6 t <- barplot(data, axes=F) par(new= T) plot(t, data, type="b") However, as you can see in the example, the dots of the second plot do not fall in the midpoint of the bars in the first. Any trick for setting the 2 plots at the same scale? I have unsuccessfully tried: plot(t,

stacked barplot with positive and negatvie values
Hello I'm trying to create a barplot with a couple of stacked positive values and with one negative value for each group. example: trees<-c(20,30,10) shrubs<-c(12,23,9) veg<-c(2,3,4) soil<-c(-100,-123,-89) example1<-t(cbind(trees,shrubs,veg)) barplot(example1) #this works so far #but now: example2<-t(cbind(trees,shrubs,veg,soil)) barplot(example2) This shows no more

barplot (PR#495)
Full_Name: Zdenek Skala Version: 1.0.0 OS: MS Windows 95 Submission from: (NULL) (194.108.127.14) Dear all, a problem with barplot() was already discussed on R-help for R 0.90.0 - sorry, if this is a known bug, but I was unable to find it in the bugs database. In: > barplot(c(.1,.5,1), ylim=(0:1)) or > barplot(c(.1,.5,1), ylim=c(0,1)) the y axis is drawn from 0.2 to 0.8, in: >

barplot
Dear all, do anybody know how to set ylim in barplot() correctly? When I write: > barplot(c(.1,.5,1.0)) the y-axis goes from 0.0 to 0.8. Wheny I type: > barplot(c(.1,.5,1.0,),ylim=range(0:1)) the y-axis goes from 0.0 to 0.8. Obviously I am doing something wrong. Are the ylim setting standards in barplot() other than in plot() or is this a bug? Thanks for any hints! Zdenek

barplot axes
Hi everyone I seem to be having a problem with the y axis in barplot. The default y axis produced by barplot begins at 0 and extends up to the maximum value of y. I would like it to extend a little further so that I can add error bars and a legend to my plot. Setting ylim=c(0,..) has the strange effect of removing the 0 from the axis and changing the interval between tick marks without

barplot: border color when stacked
Dear R-users, I am using R version 2.10.1 under windows. In a barplot, I want to mark one of the bars with a special border color. For example: barplot(c(3, 7, 11), border = c(NA, "red", NA)) But how to do this when the bars are stacked? for example: barplot(matrix(1:6, ncol=3)) # border of second bar (i.e. the one with total height = 7) should be red again, I try: barplot(matrix(1:6,

barplot with anchored bars
Dear R list members, How to produce barplots anchored to the x-axis (not floating above the x-axis) with a box around? With both following codes, the lower horizontal line of the box is below the y = 0 line: # first code x <- c(1,2,3,4) barplot(x,yaxs='i') box() # second code x <- c(1,2,3,4) op <- par(yaxs='i') barplot(x) box() par(op) The parameter yaxs='i'

box around a barplot
Hi, is it possible to draw a box around the following barplot; using "box=TRUE" won't work. ---------- pc<-c(1,2,5,29,27) barplot(pc,ylim=c(0,30),yaxs="r",xaxs="r",ylab="Anzahl" ,names.arg=c("Mac","286er","386er","486er","Pentium I") ,axisnames=T,col="gray") ---------- Thanks in

Constructing bar charts with standard error bars
I am new to R. I want to graph group data using a "Traditional Bar Chart with Standard Error Bar", like the kind shown here: http://samiam.colorado.edu/~mcclella/ftep/twoGroups/twoGroupGraphs.html Is there a simple way to do this? So far, I have only figured out how to plot the bars using barplot. testdata <- scan(, list(group=0,xbar=0,se=0)) 400 0.36038 0.02154 200 0.35927

Plotting barplot and scatterplot on same device - x-axis problem
Hi R-users I'm a relative newbie and uses R mostly for graphical purpose. I have a layout problem when plotting a scatterplot and a barplot using par(new=TRUE). The baseline of the x-axis is not positioned equal for the two plotting functions (see picture) and I have been unable to find out how this is changed. http://www.nabble.com/file/p18025066/pic.jpeg I have added the script if this

I would like to get the same six color blocks in a hexagram layout (if it were a clock,

barplot y axis too short
Hello, The function barplot automatically creates a y-axis that doesn't necessarily cover the range of y-values to be plotted. I know how to manually create my own y-axis so that it does cover the range, but I was wondering if there is some parameter to change so that the scale of the y-axis is automatically taller than the tallest bar. I thought setting xpd=F would do it, since it says that

barplot - how to force vertical axis to cover entire plot area
I'm using barplot with the following call: barplot(stat_data[[5]][,],axes=TRUE,axisnames=TRUE,axis.lty=1,xlab=xlab,ylab=ylab,beside=TRUE,las=1,font.lab=2,font.axis=1,legend.text=TRUE) On some data, the vertical axis does not cover the whole plot area and the last tick mark is smaller than the maximum value. I tried setting the ylim values but even with that, some plots are still not OK,

barplot()
Hi, Is it possible to draw barplot with x-axis being shown? I looked up the help file and I couldn't seem to find it. For example, I tried to do x <- 1:9 p <- log10(1 + 1/x) barplot(p, xlab = "Digit d", ylab = "Probability", ylim = c(0, 0.35), axes = F, main = "Benford's Law Probability") axis(1, 1:9) axis(2, seq(0, 0.35, by = 0.05),

question about R - barplot function
I would ask you a question around the function "barplot" I have a problem in the graphical output when I run, for example, this program (and the others like this): postscript("copnido.ps",horizontal=F,family="Helvetica",pointsize=15.5,width=10.5,height=9) par(mar=c(5,6,4,4)) dati <- read.table("infanzia.tab") tasso <- cbind(dati$tasso)

ylim problem in barplot
R Version 2.2.0 Platform: Windows When I use barplot but select a ylim value greater than zero, the graph is distorted. The bars extend below the bottom of the graph. For instance the command produces a problematic graph. barplot(c(200,300,250,350),ylim=c(150,400)) Any help would be appreciated. Paul [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Adding line plot to a barplot
Hi, I am trying to add a line plot of barplot, and while the following script works: barplot(DATA1,bty='c') par(new=T) plot(DATA2,type="l",axes=F,xlab="",ylab="",bty='c') axis(4) for some reason the y axis' do not align (the 0s are not in the same position). Is this because I am trying to overlay plot on barplot, and is there any way around

barplot() options for intervals on axes
Hello, I am a beginner with R. I read many tutorials and the FAQ but I cannot solve my problem. I use barplot() to view my graph. I try to get more interval marks on y axis. I wasn't able to find options in 'help(barplot)' or 'help(par)' to do this with barplot(). I seek for another option to print y values on my bars like on the graph of the R homepage:

problem with tick graph
Dear all, I'm having problems with the tick of my graph. I'mpcombining lines and barplot. For my I'm using the function axis combined with the function pretty to have more efficient tick, but all my tick (for example, 300 as my max tick and -100 as my min tick) are not printed on my graph. So I would like to have for the left axis the seq from 0 to 100 (with 0 and 100 printed on

How to pass a character argument which contains expressions to arg.names in barplot?
