bug in R-1.5.1 for Mac OS X installer (PR#1825)
Hi, Thanks for developing an outstanding software for free. I admire all your effort greatly. I would like to submit a bug report on the R-1.5.1 installer (in .mpkg, .pkg format) for Mac OS X. I'm using fink in conjunction with Darwin. In my environment, /usr/local is symbolically linked to /sw which is fink's main directory. This is to conform the directory structure on my machine

R problems
Hi. I have an ibook G3/800 running 10.2.4, with Mac's X11. Up until a few days ago, R was working fine but recently it stopped working. The error I get is: dyld: /usr/local/lib/R/bin/R.bin version mismatch for library: /usr/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (compatibility version of user: 6.0.0 greater than library's version: 5.0.0) Trace/BPT trap which seems to imply that it wants a higher

MacOS X: Packages KernSmooth and cluster won't compile
Hello, I'm using R 1.40 on MacOS X X.1.2 (installed via the fink package manager). To upgrade my installed packages, I tried to use update.packages() today. All went well for most packages, with the exception of KernSmooth and cluster. In both cases, libraries were not found although I think they are present. Here's what happened: ---------------------------------- >

R 1.2.3 for MacOS/X available
From release 1.2.3, R can run different Macintosh platforms. Two versions are currently available that are non concurrent. One version runs on MacOS Systems from 8.6 to 9.1 and MacOSX using the standard MacOS/MacOSX interface, that means that is behaves like any usual Macintosh application. (This is mantained by Stefano M. Iacus) The other version is a Darwin/X11 that means a Unix-like

Compiling R for OS X 10.2.6 (Darwin 6.6)
Our lab just picked up a G4 Powerbook (1 GHz, 1GB RAM, OS X 10.2.6). None of us have any experience with Macs but for various reasons we need to have one around for development. In any case, we've installed fink, all the Apple Developer Tools and the Dec2002updater to gcc 3.3. We're now trying to compile R 1.7.1 without too much success. First we had to get g77, which turned out to

Trying to install rjags on Mac OS X 10.5
Greetings, I wonder if anyone can offer any help or advice--even direction to an appropriate source of advice. I am trying to install rjags 1.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5 (see http://www-fis.iarc.fr/~martyn/software/jags/). I have R.app 2.6.1 installed. JAGS 1.0.1 is apparently successfully installed. I (think I) know this because when I type 'jags' into Terminal, I get the following:

Installing contributed packages on MacOS X: Solved!
I had run into problems when compiling some contributed packages to an installation of R 1.40 by fink on MacOS X. Namely, packages KernSmooth (2.22-7) and cluster (1.4-0) would not find required libraries, though those were present on the system. Jeff Whitaker, the maintainer of the R fink packages, kindly sent me this: > Kaspar: It's not looking in /sw/lib, where the libs are (the

Can't run regression on G3 Mac
Hi, I'm new to R. I was wondering if anyone has an OS X native installation (not Carbon) of R on a G3 Macintosh that is able to run linear regression? I installed Jan de Leeuw's R binary for OS 10.2 Jaguar on my laptop, which is still a G3 model. When I try to run a simple regression, using lm, I get an "Illegal Instruction" message and R quits. Jan thinks it may be the case

Install gptmbr with Windows
Does anyone know how to install the gptmbr.bin onto a USB drive with Windows? I noticed that it would be really easy to modify the source of the installer to install gptmbr.bin instead of mbr.bin with the -m flag, but I'd like a solution that doesn't require me to maintain my own custom syslinux. I'm open to writing and submitting a patch to add a new flag (say -g) to install

Conflict with Ctrl key in MacOS?
After a switch from Windows to Macintosh (running Mac OSX 10.6), I wanted to be able to run a dear old text editor, NoteTab Pro, which is only available in a Windows version. I did an installation using Wine, and after some initial issues in finding the supporting files to the editor (the path to them turned out to have 14(!) levels), everything was running smoothly. But pretty soon the MacBook
