is.na(v)<-b (was: Re: Beginner's query - segmentation fault)
I think the thread ended up with several people (not only me) feeling certain they didn't like `is.na<-` but with the developers defending it and me not really understanding why. Uwe Ligges was going to come up with an example of `<- NA` going wrong (sorry Brian R, I mean behaving unexpectedly), but never did, and I think the problem has been fixed. It was apparently a problem with

Interpretation of Variance decomposition in VAR model
Hi all, This question is not really R related, rather on Statistics subject itself. Even I did not do those using R. however still I want to post it here, because my hope is I could get help from great statisticians who are the very active member of this group. My problem is to interpret Variance decomposition of VAR model in layman's language. Using EViews I got following : Variance

Zaptel slow dial out - TDM400P
Below is a copy of my log, zapata.conf & extensions.conf that relate to the ZAP lines. Basically when we dial out it takes on 10-12 seconds before the ZAP line actaully picks up. I'm hoping to find out what the cause is for this as it's causing user grief with extremely long connect times, and I believe it may be causing issues of cross lines (an outgoing call gets mixed with an

how to know whether Vector B is a subset of Vector A
Hi, I'm quite fresh to R, and a layman of English as well. I hope I can make you understood. Now I have two vectors A and B. Is there any quick way to know whether B is a subset of A? and If B is a subset of A, can I know easily which elements in A (the index of A) equals to B's elements accordingly? For example, > a<-1:20 > b=c(2,5,9,7,4,8,3) > Question 1: we know b is a

auth_policy in a non-authenticating proxy chain
Hi, I was looking into the new Authentication Policy feature: https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Policy I had kinda hoped that I would be able to enfore this in a proxy running in front of several backends. This proxy does not authenticate. It use "nopassword". But I realize that the "succes" reported in the final authpolicy req. (command=report) is not what is

Re: (PR#3241) write.table() fails for POSIXlt class and NAs in
Uwe, You said you used testdata <- data.frame(date = strptime(c("31121991", "31121991"), "%d%m%Y"), nothing = c(NA, NA)) but that's not the same object, and that one does work for me. > dput(testdata) structure(list(date = structure(c(694137600, 694137600), class = c("POSIXt", "POSIXct")), nothing = c(NA, NA)),

FW: is.weekend() odd behaviour
Kurt, Uwe suggested I write to you as maintainer of chron ... at the start of is.weekend, in the check on the argument type, maybe just change chron() to as.chron()? This would ensure as.chron.POSIXt gets called on POSIXt arguments, and (I think) fixes the problem. I tested and it seems ok. No warning/error required. > is.weekend function(x) { if(!inherits(x, "dates"))

Granule Pos of start of page...
OK... i've come across a problem trying to get the granule pos of the start of the page... it's not so crucial with single stream ogg files... but now that i have theora+vorbis in a file, i'm finding that when i seek to a position, i have no way to determine the relative offsets of the different streams at the new seek point and hence the av is out of sync. So given a page, is it
