Does your *shared* hosting account work without errors?
I''m interested in both positive and negative reports. If you are willing,
please contribute
- name of the hosting service
- how long you have used them
- your experience ("flawless!", "it''s crap!")
You *do not* need to reply saying your VPS service works great. This is

How to find the last SQL statement executed in ActiveRecord
Is there a method for retrieving the last SQL statement executed by
ActiveRecord? I realize I can open the log file, but I''m looking for a
programmatic way.

validations with associated object
Does anyone know if Rails is supposed to validate associated objects on
creation?
Say you have a User model, with has_many posts, and a Post model which
belongs_to user. Further, the Post model has a validates_uniqueness_of
:title.
u = User.find(1)
# this should pass
u.posts.create :title => ''my new post title''
# this should fail
u.posts.create :title => ''my

Two matrix loop
Hi,
I'm trying to create a distance matrix. And it works out somewhat ok. However, I suspect that there are
some efficiency issues with my efforts. Plz have a look at this:
donor <- matrix(c(3,1,2,3,3,1,4,3,5,1,3,2), ncol=4)
receiver <-
matrix(c(1,4,3,2,4,3,1,5,1,3,2,1,4,5,3,5,1,3,2,4,5,1,2,3,1,4,5,5,1,2,1,3,4,3,2,5,5,1,4,2,5,4,3,2), ncol=4)
The above creates my two matrices. I have

FerretDonors page added to wiki
Hey folks,
I''ve just added a FerretDonors page to the Wiki (for those interested
we have raised $3915 to date). Currently it just has a list of donors
but I would like to add links for each donor to their personal and/or
business websites. This is something I should have done a long time
ago. I''d love to hear any suggestions as to how I can better recognize
these

Using Tags in Applications
I''ve been contemplating the utilization of "tags" functionality for
categorizing records in my application. For example, a record can have
any tag associated with them: volunteer, donor, phone_caller, etc.
(Much like delicious)
Has anyone already laid out a good architecture for implementing this
on the DB, or other medium? I''m sure I can custom build something, but

Usually this kind of information is provided in the README file.
I am a donor to the R Foundation.
Ubuntu uses the Synaptic. It only installs the R version 2.9.0
So, I have to compile R-2.10.1 from the

Partially crossed and nested random factors in lme/lmer
Hi all,
I am not a very proficient R-user yet, so I hope I am not wasting people?s
time. I want to run a linear mixed model with 3 random factors (A, B, C)
where A and B are partially crossed and C is nested within B. I understand
that this is not easily possible using lme but it might be using lmer. I
encountered two problems when trying:
Firstly, I can enter two random factors in lmer but

Neosurge.com
All,
I would like to thank the latest donor to the CentOS project:
Neosurge.com. We have a nice new, shiny server to help get all those
updates out faster.
http://www.neosurge.com/
Neosurge has plenty of hosting options from normal website hosting to
dedicated / co-located servers. And I can vouch for the speed of the
traffic into the datacenters.
You can definitely get CentOS pre-installed

new to dovecot, dealing with MH foders
Hello,
I'm sorry if this is a repeat, a few choice searches into google didn't
help and I found no search for the archives.
I can no longer put of moving away from UW-IMAP. Dovecot certainly seems to
be the right choice, but I am having problems getting it to do what I need
it to for all my mail. The machine is running the dist version, 0.99.12.
I have a system mailbox and a large MH

Calculating Cumulative Incidence Function
Hello,
I have a problem regarding calculation of Cumulative Incidence Function.
The event of interest is failure of bone-marrow transplantation, which may
occur due to relapse or death in remission. The data set that I have
consists of- lifetime variable, two indicator variables-one for relapse and
one for death in remission, and the other variables are donor type (having

I''ve seen some references to the Ultra100TX2, but it doesn''t seem to
refer to the version that I''m using.

I''ve gotten quite a bit out of Pat Maddox''s screencast

One thing I''m not sure of is the feature where he writes things like:

Here is a "ruby script/console" session verbatim which will explain the

scenes at any time. topics is a has_many relationship of Sponsor.

Has anyone seen this before?
I'm using samba and cups to allow NT/2k machines to print to an HP LaserJet
4000N printer. The printer works fine except for one in house program. In
this one program, all the horizontal lines that should be printed are
missing. Originally I thought this was a driver problem, but today, for no
apparent reason, it started printing the horizontal lines... but only for
the first page of each
