Problem with japanese programs
Hello. I have a tiny problem. I am running Character Maker (a japanese painting program aimed mainly for RPG Maker and the like). Now on Windows, it used the default system font, but when I run it under Wine it uses an ugly handwriting font. Is there a way to fix this problem? It also happens with several programs which were originally in japanese (such as Melody Raiser [from the same author] and

Centos 5.6 and httpd
A problem with httpd on 5.6 I have three Centos machines that were automatically upgraded from 5.5. to 5.6. Everything appears to be running perfect except httpd had stopped delivering web service on all three machines. I did a cursive look to see if there had been a reported bug and found : http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4796 When I changed : chown root.apache /etc/httpd/alias/*.db

[slightly off topic] Sweave with markdown
DeaR list, Has anyone tried to mix the Sweave paradigm with the Markdown[*] (and co.) syntax? Would this be hard to implement? My tiny understanding of Sweave is that one can define new drivers for the text part, while some functions that deal with the R code would not require any modification. Here's the reason I'm interested in Mardown for a driver. I've been orbiting

authentication request
I am running centos 6.5 on a desktop. I have run it for a couple of years with few problems. Lately I have been getting a request for authentication popup that says something wants to upload software.? when I refuse and click on details it says an upload failed for lack of authentication. The only clue I have is an entry in /var/log/secure that says "may 19 localhost polkitd

I had an application using RS232 that worked perfectly

Problems printing, fonts are cut off
I've been searcing this newsgroup and other places for a solution to this and finally decided to post and see what anyone has to say. I am running Ubuntu 6.06 with Wine 0.9.30. The software that is giving me problems is Finale 97, a music notation program. Finale installs Truetype (.ttf) fonts for the special music notation characters. The display on the screen is fine. When I print, the

Re cursive regression
Hi there, I'm in desperate need to figure out how to solve this issue. I need to estimate a recursive model for a time series data of asset returns. The dependent variable is the asset return and then I have a set of k variables, a lagged value of the dependent variable (plus an intercept) as regressors. My sample period (monthly observations) starts on Jan 1972. What I need to do is the

USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
I've several USB <-> RS-232 dongles around. As well as a few embedded devices. They all "Just Work (tm)" on Redhat, CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Raspian and Kali. Knock on wood - never had a problem using any of them. As the drivers are part of the kernel, I'd expect any distro using a recent kernel to do well. Text to Speech - Someone needs to do this
Why hasn't someone found 50 people who sound alike, put them in sound studios and record the 10,000 most commonly used words. You would all differnent forms of the 1,000 most words, i.e. leading, trailing, question etc. You can synthesize the other 0.05% when you run into them. With hard drives so big, processors so fast and EXT3 that can handle 30,000+ files in a single directory that

[LLVMdev] neon registers llvm using
Hi, Everyone: Can anyone let me know the default NEON registers llvm going to use with armv7 devices? For example, d10 and d11 are treated as default zero? I am using Xcode5 + llvm and I got a case that compiler will generate neon codes " vst.8 {d10, d11}, [r1] " from C codes: "int aMV[4]; ...... aMV[0] = aMV[1] = aMV[2] = aMV[3] = 0; " and I
