rpart unbalanced data
Hello all,
I am currently working with rpart to classify vegetation types by spectral
characteristics, and am comming up with poor classifications based on the fact
that I have some vegetation types that have only 15 observations, while others
have over 100. I have attempted to supply prior weights to the dataset, though
this does not improve the classification greatly. Could anyone supply some

Writing a tabel in LaTeX-format
I have a vague recollection of seeing a R-function
that will output a table or matix in a format suitable
for the tabular enviroment in LaTeX.
But I cannot find it. Any hints?

read.table
When I read a table (the dimnames of the table are numbers), R reads the
column names as: X plus the number (X1,X2,X3,...) and the rownames as the
numbers (1,2,3,...)
How can I suppress this action?
The code and the output:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
> r2<-read.table("h:\\matrix",header=T,dec=",",na.strings="-99")
> dimnames(r2)

Getting all R packages
Rather than spend a tedious interactive session
picking several (in fact most) of the library
packages off the CRAN site one by one, it would
be handy to be able to grab the lot in one go
(they seem to add up to about 24MB, so it's not
a huge download).
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for the help.

Image processing? Manipulating image data in R?
Hi!
I am looking for a R library by which i can load images (i found pixmap that
allows it to do).
But in addition i need methods to access the data, get them for example as an
array or matrix to do with this data some processing.
1. Is there a method in the pixmap library to access the matrix in which the
image data is stored.
2. Is there an alternative library running under MS Windows?

repeating rows or columns within a matrix
Hello
Spse I have a matrix, say
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
and I would like to expand it by repeating rows within the matrix, to
get, if the repeating factor is 2, say:
123
123
456
456
789
789
(or columnwise as well) . There must be a smart way of doing that?
Many thanks

S-Plus 2000 <-> R 1.0.1
Good day:
Let's say that I have a data frame in S-Plus 2000 (Win98 version).
I want to use the same data frame with R on another computer.
Questions:
1) Can R read S-Plus data frames? Can S-Plus 2000 read R data
frames?
2) How can i move the data frame between the two systems? Do I
need to use dump()?
Thank you.

Literature needed
Howdy!
Could somebody point me to some good introductory readings about data
mining and descriptive data analysis? I'm a psychologist and a couple
of times I realized that some things just don't appear in
psychological literature, e.g. I've never seen a box plot anywhere in
psych journals so I'm not familiar with them. The R help function is
great when it comes to explaining

effects in ANCOVA
Dear R users,
I am trying to fit the following ANCOVA model in R2.4.0
Y_ij=mu+alpha_i+beta*(X_ij-X..)+epsilon_ij
Particularly I am interested in obtaining estimates for mu, and the effects
alpha_i
I have this data (from the book Applied Linear Statistical Models by Neter

y<-c(38,43,24,39,38,32,36,38,31,45,27,21,33,34,28)

R & DataMining
Dear R-user,
I wish to know if someone is using R as concern
Datamining or KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Database)
and if already exists a R package specialized in this
kind of analysis.
I found this contributes on the R web site:

Sweave doesn't do csv.get()
Hi Everybody
I use R2.8.0 on Mac OS X. I set up LyX 1.6.1 to use Sweave today. I can
compile the test file I found on CRAN (
http://cran.r-project.org/contrib/extra/lyx/) without a problem and the
output looks very nice. In the test file the following R code is used.
<<myFirstChunkInLyX>>=
xObs <- 100; xMean <- 10; xVar <- 9
x <- rnorm(n=xObs, mean=xMean, sd=sqrt(xVar))
