Question on start_form_tag and get post method
Hi all, I have a simple question about start_form_tag. It default generates method=post. I was wondering how you could use start_form_tag to generate method=get. Probably a simple question but one I can''t answer with the API doc. Thanks in advance, Onno

Making a share visible only to members of a group
Hi, > I want a shared directory to be visible only to the members of a group, and > to no one else. Instead, a shared directory is either visible to everyone I tried to realize this by using include like: #include smb.conf.%G But it did not work correctly. Sometimes the share was visible, sometimes it wasnt, and if it was visible, network path wasnt found afterwards. > I have worked

Non model question in a model form
I am working on a Rails app where people sign up and have a profile. When they are first signing up, they fill in their profile but I have an additional question when they are creating their account that alters the initial configuration of the account but is never used afterwards, so I don't want to include it in the profile. It is a multiple choice question with certain validation rules.

Online update functionality
Hi all, I was thinking about extending the functionality of my app with a online update functionality. Maybe it is a bad idea, I like to hear your opinion. I have in mind something like the following: - upload zip to server with new app version; - unzip file to server problably save it to some releases folder - overwrite my app sources in production - migrate database - restart my SCGI process to

pop3 creates bad index file
Hi, When I use pop3 to log on to a (Maildir) mailbox that doesn't yet exist in the filesystem, the pop3 server autocreates it for me. This works. vpopmail quota
Hi, I'd like the vpopmail user database to return the quota settings for users, instead of having to rely on the validity of the maildirsize files. It doesn't look like this is currently possible. Would simply adding a auth_stream_reply_add call for "quota" with a suitable value in vpopmail_lookup be sufficient to make this work? (the quota can be read from the pw_shell

uninitialized constant Base (NameError) trying to use ActiveLdap
Hi group I''m trying to hook up my simple app to Active Directory. I''m following instructions posted on the website. Mainly http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoAuthenticateViaLdap and now also http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/ActiveLDAP. The two instructions seem to differ a little on how to configure (environment.rb). Both instructions break my app with an

verbose_proctitle for proxy processes?
Hi, We're using Dovecot to proxy incoming POP3 and IMAP connections to the right server. We'd like to be able to see what connections are currently open on the proxy servers, without having the parse the log file. For normal mail processes it's possible to use verbose_proctitle for this purpose, but this setting doesn't work for proxy/login processes. Is it possible to do

Windows Mobile and IMAP proxy
Hi, We are running Dovecot proxies in front of our Dovecot IMAP servers, and were having problems with Windows Mobile clients not being able to connect. The clients would send a LOGIN command, and immediately after the succes reply a LOGOUT command. It turns out the Windows Mobile IMAP client gets confused by the IMAP proxy first sending the command tag in the reply and then, in a seperate

Altering the starting URL for webrick
Hi all, With webrick (i.e. "ruby script/server") is there a way to alter the starting URL? In other words, instead of "http://foo.bar.com", I''d like it to start at "http://foo.bar.com/myapp"? And, still be on port 3000? If it''s not possible, that''s fine. Just thought I''d ask. Thanks, Dan

Support for Rails on Linux and the readline package
Hi, I''m installing Rails on Linux and I want to share my experiences with it. I expected a smooth installation because the Rails experts often mention Linux as the preferred platform for Rails. I think it is true if there wasn''t the readline requirement. This package will allow to start the Rails console. Because of the requirement I think in fact many will experience that

\Noselect missing after deleting mailbox
Hi, With mailbox_list_index enabled (which is the default), Dovecot won't return \Noselect when LISTing a mailbox that was deleted but still has subordinate mailboxes. Before creating such a mailbox in the first place, it does return \Noselect. 1 LIST "" Test 1 OK List completed (0.002 + 0.000 + 0.001 secs). 2 CREATE Test/Test 2 OK Create completed (0.014 + 0.000 + 0.014 secs). 3

page caching urls with space characters broken in webrick and mongrel
Page caching of urls with spaces in them using WEBrick and Mongrel is broken in Edge Rails (and Rails 1.1.6, where I started). This is due to the dispatch flow of control in both servers converting ''+'' in requested paths into '' '' chars, whereas the page caching system writes cache files for URLs with spaces in them out as encoded ''+''

RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer).
