Liquid with database?
Hello,
Just wondering if someone here as successfully ported Liquid to use with a database. I would like to try it out but not sure how Liquid integrates with current templates.
Thanks

Liquid templates and forms
I have started to experiment with Liquid templates and all goes fine as long
as I just display my stuff.
But I want to get user input (using forms), and I couldn''t figure out so far
whether and how liquid facilitates the use of forms, something like the form
helper tags in .rhtml.
Anybody knows about that ?

Liquid & Rails 2.0.2
Hello,
I am using Rails 2.0.2 and the liquid template engine does not work
properly. The template is not interpreted as a liquid template, but
like an erb template.
template name : view/pages/template_1column.html.liquid
def index
render :action => ''template_1column''
end
The template is loaded by rails, but not interpreted by the liquid
template engine.
Any ideas ?

liquid: passing objects
I''ve got Liquid installed and maybe since I''m not coming in with Django
experience, I''m completely mystified by how to pass anything worthwhile
to a template.
In my controller:
def preview
@customer = Customer.find(1)
@letter = Letter.find(1)
@liquid_body = Liquid::Template.parse(@letter.body)
@x =

Dynamic view - is it possible at all?
I have the following question. It sounds weird, but still.
We all have app/views/say.rhtml or any other template for the view. It
can include of course instructions in <% %>
So the question is next -- is it possible to use .rhtml as a view
which we just uploaded?
I.e. user uploads his own .rhtml, controller saves it in the database,
and shows the view using it.
Is it possible at all?

Do liquid templates play well with RJS?
Im looking to use liquid template for security reasons, our coding &
designer teams work in semi-isolation. We are looking to use some RJS
goodness but I''m not sure if you are faced with the same problem as with
Rhtml, ie. you are running ruby code which can do anything it is told to
do, eg. delete all files on the hardrive.
Can anyone confirm this is the case?

Plugins? Components?
Hi,
Newbie here :)
Can someone help explain the difference between "plugins" (put in the
/vendor/plugins directory) and "components" (put into the /components
directory)?
Is it just that "plugins" have an init.rb file that is automatically loaded?
Also, how can I dynamically find out which files/controllers are
available in the /components directory?
Thanks,

Best way to bill through LinkPoint? Is ActiveMerchant solid?
I need to set up a site to charge cards through LinkPoint. I did some
searching to see what was available, and saw that Shopify uses
ActiveMerchant. I saw that it hasn''t been touched in several months,
though perhaps that''s simply because it hasn''t needed any changes.
Just wondering what''s the best way to go about this.
Thanks for any info.

I need untyped associations
I am in the process of trying to migrate to ROR from a home grown ORM,
but one stumbling block is ActiveRecord''s typed associations and object
ID assignment scheme. In the home grown system, I have a master table
which *all* objects are packed into and a master associative table which
holds *all* associations. This allows each object, regardless of type,
to have a unique ID and thus it

Streaming to/from MySQL
Hi.
When I upload a 10Mb file (from my browser) to my Rails app, a Tempfile
object gets created on the server. When the contents gets written to the
database, it''s a simple INSERT, so basically the data is read to memory
and then inserted into MySQL.
How come the data is not streamed to the DB so we avoid the memory
issue? Is this a short coming of ActiveRecord or the MySQL/Ruby

Console for Testing Routes?
Hi,
when the "Agile Web Development" book talks about routes, there are what
looks like console transcripts like the following:
URL> store
@params = {:controller => ''store'', :action = ''index''}
Is there something like a console for testing routes (where you could
put in a url and see how rails would route it)??

rspec 1.0.x and liquid?
Is anyone else using liquid with the > 1 rspec? This seems to fail:
it ''should render show'' do
response.should render_template(''buyers/show'')
get :show, :id => 1
end
with an error like
1)
NoMethodError in ''/buyer GET should render show''
You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!

Apache+mod_proxy_balancer+Mongrel+Mephisto, Apache kills CPU
Our Mephisto install kills Mongrels and causes Apache to pound the
CPU. This started when we moved to Apache+mod_proxy_balancer+Mongrel.
Here''s what we know:
The following things are working OK, except when used in the
combination listed above: mongrel, mongrel_rails, MySQL, Apache,
mod_proxy_balancer. We believe these are all OK because we moved five
other Rails apps to this

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] YAC? (Yet Another Capistrano)
My needs are far more modest than Capistrano''s capabilities. Also, when
working in a shared hosting environment, the Capistrano model can be
outside the capabilities allowed by the Web host.
I simply need to push selected directories (on a changed-file basis) out
to a server. I have about 80% of the code written to do this (I''m
considering YAC for the name, with a nod to

Payment Gem Error
I am learning how to use the payment gem to process credit cards. I
think I have everything up and running correctly but I get this error:
undefined method `use_ssl='' for #<Net::HTTP secure.authorize.net:443

Would anyone have an idea what would cause that?
