lattice
I cannot find the equivalent of cex.axis for lattice. How does one change the size of the labels of the axis tick marks in xyplot et al.? Thanks in advance for any help. Pedro. p.s.: I looked in the FAQ and Trellis manual, but I diidn't find an answer... so I hope I am not asking about something obvious. I am using R 1.4.1 on windows 9X. Lattice 0.4-0 --

nlme and multiple comparisons
This is only partly a question about R, as I am not quite sure about the underlying statistical theory either. I have fitted a non-linear mixed-effects model with nlme. In the fixed part of the model I have a factor with three levels as explanatory variable. I would like to use Tukey HSD or a similar test to test for differences between these three levels. I have two grouping factors:

GLMM - Am I trying the impossible?
Dear all, I have tried to calculate a GLMM fit with lmer (lme4) and glmmPQL (MASS), I also used glm for comparison. I am getting very different results from different functions, and I suspect that the problem is with our dataset rather than the functions, but I would appreciate help in deciding whether my suspicions are right. If indeed we are attempting the wrong type of analysis, some

New package for multivariate Kalman filtering, smoothing, simulation and forecasting
Dear all, I am pleased to announce the CRAN release of a new package called 'KFAS' - Kalman filter and smoother. The package KFAS contains functions of multivariate Kalman filter, smoother, simulation smoother and forecasting. It uses univariate approach algorithm (aka sequential processing), which is faster than normal method, and it also allows mean square prediction error matrix Ft to

aov and missing values
I am learning R, and although I have looked in the documentation, I may be asking something obvious. Sorry, if that is the case. In a split-plot design if there is a missing subunit summary gives me a table with two rows for the same factor, one in the error within section and one in the section using error between units. With no data missing the table is "normal". How does one

Is this a bug?
I am new to R (and S) and I hope someone on the list can help me out. I find the following behaviour surprising, is it a bug or a feature? (looks like a bug to me) R Version 1.1.0, Windows (x86, Win32) June 15, 2000 OS Windows 95 cat.test <- function(){ summary(c(1:20)) cat("test\n") } summary produces no output, just "test" appears on RGUI's

The constant part of the log-likelihood in StructTS
Dear all, I'd like to discuss about a possible bug in function StructTS of stats package. It seems that the function returns wrong value of the log-likelihood, as the added constant to the relevant part of the log-likelihood is misspecified. Here is an simple example: > data(Nile) > fit <- StructTS(Nile, type = "level") > fit$loglik [1] -367.5194 When computing the

wine compilation fails: 'checking X11/xpm.h - no'
Hello I am having this compilation error while running 'configure'. It fails to detect the xpm.h file which in fact is where it is supposed be. I am running RH70 and xpm&xpm-dev rpms are installed. Codeweavers FAQ offers a solution to this problem: http://wine.codeweavers.com/fom-meta/cache/38.html ... "I changed 'configure' line 980 from: if mkdir conftestdir;

DNS & DHCP Management System
Hello A few (or a lot) of us supports larger corporate networks. I would like know your opinion/solution based on CentOS. No Win auto/dynamic/smart (WI|D)NS/DHCP How do you manage DNS&DHCP (the informations filled in, not the server software) for hundreds or thousands of computers? For our network, just now we use homebrewed scripts, but they are getting unsufficient (cca. 700

[Bridge] Measuring Bridge Performance (+ebtables/iptables)
Hello, has anyone done any performance measuring of Linux Bridge + firewalling? I did search the net for a long time, to find out what would be the best way to measure the (maximum) performance/throughput. I didn't really come to a conclusion I'm satisfied with. Nevertheless I did create a small bridged test setup with 4 servers (gbit nics) and a linux bridge (2 x 100 mbit nic), all on

a lld linker script bug
Hi, Thanks for your patch, Huang. It looks good to me. Just one comment: can you write a testcase, similar to the others used for linker script testing, with your example? Alternatively, you can modify lld/test/elf/linkerscript/sections-with-wildcards.test to test your case. This will make your patch complete and ready for commit, and will ensure we do not regress on this bug if this code is ever

A new snapshot
Hi, I have released a new snapshot of GnuPG, I hope this is one of the last ones before 1.0.2 ;-) This is still a BETA VERSION and not intended for general use. ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/pub/gcrypt/devel/gnupg-1.0.1e.tar.gz (1600k) The usual diff file is also available, but this time there is only a detached signature for this diff file, because I noticed to late that the --not-dash-escaped option
