similar to: persp(): z-axis annotation overwrites numbers at tickmark

Dear R-users, is there a way to label the tickmarks other than persp does it? I didn't find anything on that in the archive. To plot the surface with equi-distant tickmarks, I assigned x<-c(1:6) y<-x persp(x,y,z,....) Instead of labels 1 to 6, I need something like 0.05, 0.1,10,15,100,1000. I need to change one of the axis produced by persp by giving it labels for the tickmarks. The dimension has months (a factor) so the default decimals don't look good.
