label tickmarks in persp()-plot
Dear R-users,
is there a way to label the tickmarks other than persp does it? I didn't
find anything on that in the archive.
To plot the surface with equi-distant tickmarks, I assigned
x<-c(1:6)
y<-x
persp(x,y,z,....)
Instead of labels 1 to 6, I need something like 0.05, 0.1,10,15,100,1000.
Any hint and help appreciated,
Nina

xyplot/levelplot: thickness of tickmarks
Hi,
if I use the xyplot (or levelplot) function (lattice library) with
the option axs="i", I have the problem that the tickmarks lie a bit
outside the "plot-box". Consider for example:
library(lattice)
x<-seq(0,1,by=0.01)
y<-seq(0,1,by=0.01)
xyplot(y~x,type="l",xlim=c(0,1),ylim=c(0,1),scales=list

Orientation of tickmarks labels in boxplot/plot
Hi,
I have been trying draw tickmark labels along
the y - axis perpendicular to the y axis while
labels along the x - axis parallel to x axis
while making box plot.
Here is my test dataset.

-Altering labels and tickmarks on persp() plots
All,
This was posted earlier but may have got lost in another thread.
Can someone tell me how to independently alter the fontsize and position of
labels on a persp plot??
I've tried using titles() and axes() but they seem to only apply to the
standard plot() and contour plots (contour() and filled.contour(). Commands
like text() seem only to add to the margin of the plot rather than

axis in r plot
I have a graph plotted in r.The x axis tickmarks are at 0,5,10. I need a
graph with resolution of tickmarks at 0.1 interval. When i place tickmarks of
0.1 intervals using the following command axis(1, at=seq(0,5,0.1),
cex.axis=0.7, las=2) I only get the tickmarks of 0.1 interval that are very
closed placed in the graph.I need to increase the spacing between each
tickmark. Please anyone help out

Tick mark puzzle.
I am bewildered by the behaviour of tickmarks as demonstrated by the
following code. (What I'm trying to do is draw a single tick mark
extending
from the axis all the way down to the tick label, which is two lines
from
the axis to make sure it doesn't overlap with the ``ordinary'' tick
labels.)
# Try 1:
# Gap between tickmark and label.

lattice: formatting tickmark labels of log scaled axes
Problem:
How can I format tickmark labels of log scaled axes of lattice
graphics in the usual `xxx'-Format (and not in the scientific
format).
Example:
(according to the help-page of xyplot):
In the first plot I get the xxx-Format,
in the second plot I get the scientific format (10^xxx):
data(sunspot)
plot( 1:37, sunspot, log='y',type='l')
xyplot( sunspot ~ 1:37,

Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
Thanks Jeff,
I attached a file with the program to my earlier email because the posting guide seemed to imply that non-binary attachments would work. But I see that the file was stripped off.
I installed the program file on a web site, but when I downloaded it, the line breaks were stripped out. So I've included the program below:

persp(): add second plane (second, long question)
Thank you for your replies so far.
Sorry for bothering you again, but I'm still not able to get what I need as
I don't understand all parts of the replies (just using R for easy
things....).
Is there a code for plane3d() like some of you sent me for points3d()? I was
not able to get that out of the scatterplot3d package...
What I can do is to get the x,y and z-range for the xlim, ylim and

persp(): add second plane
Dear R-users,
is it possible to add a second plane to the persp()-plot? I couldn't find
any hint on that in the news archive...
I'm using R.1.4.1 for Windows.
Thanks in advance,
Nina

change axis labels in persp
I need to change one of the axis produced by persp by giving it labels for the tickmarks.
The dimension has months (a factor) so the default decimals don't look good.
The graph will finally become a pdf or emf file to be embedded in a document, so persp3d will not work, I think.
Thank you all.

No subject
Hi,
can anyone help with two questions concerning persp?
(1) Is there a function in R to project points onto a persp() plot, as is in
S+ (perspp() I think) ?
(2) How can I label and tickmark axes x,y and z in a persp plot?
(I am still using RW065)
Thanks for any help

surpressing tickmarks / labels x-as for two sets of boxplot (plotted as stacked boxplots)
Hello,
I am trying to plot two sets of boxplots together. These are estimates of two
experiments and?seven?factors.
The results of the two experiments I want to plot as boxplots stacked to each
other.
Therefore I plot first the results of the first experiment; and next with the
add option the second set of boxplots.
The boxplots are plotted at 'at = 1:7 - 0.15 for the first experiment and

offset labeling boxplots
Hello everybody,
often I plot boxplots with different number of boxes (up to 200 boxes).
I'd like to give every box a readable label on the x-axis. Therefore, I
decrease the fontsize of the names and plot them vertical.
But if you zoom into the plot (pdf) you will find an offset between the
tickmark and the label - the label is shifted to the right.
If you vary the box.count in the

Limiting number of tickmarks in lattice bwplot
Have a simple bwplot with 24 ordered factors across the x axis. I would like
to only label every 4th tick mark so that the labels fit. I tried
scales=list(x=list(tick.number=6)), but I still seem to get 24 tickmarks and
24 labels. Full code is below:

scales=list(x=list(tick.number=6)),horizontal=FALSE,las=2,main="Rooms

using axis with newline characters
Wondering if I missed anything or if that's a problem with R:
I want to have many x axis tickmarks and labels such that it makes sense to put them on multiple "lines".
The newline character seems to be ignored though for axis labels:
plot(1:33, axes=F)
axis(1, 9, 9)
axis(1, 11, "\n11")
axis(1)
# whereas
title("one\ntwo")
works as I expect it to work.

How can you plot some dates? I mean how can i have the tickmarks with the label of each date on my x axis?
The dates i use are in POSIXct format, i don't know if it matters.

colour by z value, persp in raster package
Hi all!
My question is how to colour pixels by z value in persp plot in raster package. Here is an example:
x <- seq(-1.95, 1.95, length = 30)
y <- seq(-1.95, 1.95, length = 35)
z <- outer(x, y, function(a,b) a*b^2)
r1 <- raster(nrows=35, ncols=30, xmn=0, xmx=30, ymn = 0, ymx = 35)
r1[] <- c(z)
persp(r1)
There already exist some function to produce persp plot for anothe
