50% performance of custom R build compared to PPA R for a command
Hi, I have R installed from the Ubuntu PPA and a local build of R (more details below). I will refer to these as "R" and "R-devel", respectively. I've reproduced the following on Ubuntu 13.10 and 14.04. Below is an example (which requires the bootstrap package) that takes 10 seconds for me to run with R-devel and 5 seconds with R library(bootstrap) str(tooth) theta <-

moduli(5) changes
Hi folks, This applies to src/share/man/man5/moduli.5 in the OpenBSD source tree, and doesn't seem to apply to the portable OpenSSH, so I've sent this change here instead of via Bugzilla. I'm trying to connect Asterisk with SpanDSP using iaxmodem. My system looks like this: ISDN <---> Asterisk <---> IAXModem <---> Hylafax Asterisk and

Calculating seasonal anomalies
I have an irregular time series, which cannot easily be converted to a ts object (long stretches with NA). I have calculated the climatological mean and st.dev, but need help on how to calculate the anomalies from the climatology and my original data set. Below is an example, where I have indicated the basic idea of what I want to do under Question 1 and 2. I assume I will have to create a custom

ask for help on nonlinear fitting
I have a table like the following. I want to fit Cm to Vm like this: Cm ~ Cl+Q1*b1*38.67*exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867))^2+Q2*b2*38.67*exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867))^2 I use nls, with start=list(Q1=2e-3, b1=1, Vp1=-25, Q2=3e-3, b2=1, Vp2=200). But I always get 'singlular gradient' error like this. But in SigmaPlot I can get the result. How
